Love parade cancelled, eh?

| 14-04-2004 -TALKS WITHOUT POSITIVE RESULT- Negotiations between Loveparade GmbH and the City of Berlin did not have the result we were all been waiting for. Berlin is not willing to accept a possible loss of 500.000 Euro like last year. Loveparade GmbH on the other hand will never allow the event to be anything but free. Selling tickets for the Loveparade is against it's principles. Merchandise, advertisement and catering should be the only sources of income. A speaker from the organization even announced that the parade won't take place, but Harald Wolf (PDS) says both parties will talk again this friday. |

| No Loveparade Berlin 2004 Berlin, April 14 2004 We are terribly sorry to announce that this year's Loveparade will not be celebrated. Due to a lack of financial resources - and only three months remaining to get this straight - there is no other way but to cancel Loveparade Berlin 2004. Ever since the Loveparade lost its status as a demonstration in 2001, constant financial losses were the case. Until 2002, these losses were paid for with our own savings. The main reason for these losses were the high production costs, which resulted from its new status as a regular event. These additional costs added up to more than 900,000_. The general business situation remaining over the last years has not only affected Loveparade itself, but also a great many of our partners (in the advertising, TV, and record industries), which added to our bad financial situation. In 2003 it was the support of Messe Berlin who helped out with the necessary budget. Nevertheless, this year's conferences with the Berliner Senat and the Messegesellschaft did NOT end with a financial solution for the Loveparade even though we had tried to cut all possible costs. Furthermore we thought about financing the event with tickets, but we eventually came up with the decision that this would be the wrong thing to do: It would turn the initial ideas of Loveparade as an "event open to anyone" upside down. We are planning to meet in the near future in order to discuss our next steps and the conditions which could make future Loveparades possible. |

Maybe I should delete my post on the previous page
They've said it was under pressure before, but never that it was cancelled...
Though I'd imagine all the parties on that weekend would still be going ahead....
From German TA LP thread:
"one of the companies that organize the LP have jumped the gun and issued a press release saying that the LP isn't going to happen. This is not the case. The other organizer (PlanetCom) is still working with Berlin's Senate to find a funding solution"
so, we'll see

Ouch! Fingers crossed for all of those heading over there.
Noob question ::
is there a diff between Sensation white and black apart from obvious??
i.e .. style of music ( darker, harder , melodic, ect)
Hey all . I'm going to as many of these parties as possible... petty GKGG is in england though, Can't they have it somewhere nice next time? Ahh well.... Guess i should see more of the country before saying it's all crap. My girlfriend is coming over then so time to party! Not far for me to go up to Berlin for a few days.... or to amsterdam really...
IF ANY OF YOU MIGHT BE COMING TO LONDON TRY AND ORGANISE IT AROUND THE AUSSIE MUSIC FESTIVAL 'FIERCE'.....THE DANCE TENTS ARE SUPERB.......
