Yea you are right when u said that he doesnt stick to one genre, and a lot of other djs have done the same thing. But his track selection is horrendous and makes his sets inconsistant. I saw him live and he dropped a sweet techno tune then dropped a real cheezy trance tune after taht and had the club not been so packed, he wouldve cleared the dance floor. A lot of ppl stopped dancing. He did it a coupla times that night.

Check his Timewarp 2004 set no trance all techno = sweet set.

actually you can'T determine one dj as the best in the world.
dj's fitt to different genres as hiphop, house, trance, techno and all its subgenres.

but i would agree when you say that picotto is kind of special.
he doesn't belong to one style, his sets are variating. sometimes he plays more house (turntabledays, germany) or he takes the tribal way (orgasmatron, italy) or even more into trance (especially old sets...)

i won't say, that his mixing techniques are the best of the world *g*
- he has his own way of mixing tracks. and some people love this way, some people hate it.
for example, take a closer look at the hardtechno dj's PET-Duo. They know how to drop the bass - hold one or two hits back into a deep silence and then burst in with a thunder of beats. picotto is to my mind not able to influence the audience in that way, but he uses more of these metallic sounds, impressing the crowd with dark and frightening sounds (for example: picotto - taotek ep, picotto - tell me something(will be released in a while))

all in all you can add, that picotto is a brilliant producer, showing new ways and inventing new trends. he changes his style from ep to ep. compare comodo and back to cali in 1999/2000 and now alchemist, alchemy and taotek ep.

Back to Cali was 2002, when he'd already been doing techno for a couple of years.

I think he's pretty good, diverse, but I don't know what the hype is all about he's not "fenomenal"

I think this thread was just made by someone with over active hormones. There is very little hype over mauro in the real world .
