Awesome lineup guys...this is going to be one ROCKING night in Adelaide! Hope it all goes well!

Posted by LucasYork on May-04-2004 01:16:

mmm change ya mind huh?

well buy a pre sold for $15 instead of paying $20 at the door?

i understand how people feel about fees, but then i get upset that people complain about paying for an event and then go buy 2 pills...

i'm not saying you do..

im not sure how to convince you, ill leave that up to heathy!!! haha...

is this party goes well, once i return from overseas, you can expect a bigger and better party...!!!

$20 isnt too much by the way, considering ODDY charges $18 pre sold, $25 at the door for 2 interstaters, check out any of his events.

either way, you can always go to see human nature @ heaven for $10 at the door on saturday

:P hehe

have a good day guys

Gumble i'll speak to you about this off-line, to see if i can get ya there.

Lucas i'll speak to you Sat night about things

Posted by gumble on May-04-2004 07:15:

lucas: im not exactly a fan of oddies events, so that arguement doesnt apply to how much i pay.

fabric event last year: 2 internationals, 2 rooms, best night of my life; $15.

Posted by LucasYork on May-04-2004 07:21:

yeh but that makes no difference mate

as a promotor, u have no idea how it works..

FABRIC... im pretty sure have a nice little deal with the club.. and get a nice cut out of the BAR.. which makes a massive difference..

I on the other hand... am only charginging $15 pre sold

i get NOTHING from the bar and even a large cut out of the door fee goes to LE ROX....

i pay for all ads, flyers, djs, flights, hotels, blah blah

getting it now?

if u can do it better n cheaper and willing to risk your money, hey man do it...

otherwise don't complain to me

Posted by gumble on May-04-2004 08:32:

im no promoter, im the punter, i complain.

having said that, most ppl, the ppl u are enticing to your night, arent really interested in what it costs you as the promoter, but what it costs them; to have thier moneys worth and a good night out.

in all honesty i hope this works out for you, i hope everyone gets blown away and thinks thats the best $15/ $20 they ever spent.

im sure u've done all possible to keep costs low, but i understand in adelaide, you've got a lot to compete against, and it may be near impossible to offer a better price....

it just seems at first glance, being the only glance of many a clubber, its a bit steep.

you get what i mean?....

anyway, im sure Heath will introduce us at some stage....

Posted by LucasYork on May-04-2004 09:44:

yeh man I understand....ive managed my money very well... but it's all about turn out as well... and its my first party.. so i dont know what to expect

well unless you r rocking up... i leave for europe and america the week after..

so maybe when I return.... in 3 months...

it's cost me nearly just as much for 3 interstaters, as they paid for HIM plus his international flight..

my pre solds r $15

theirs were $18

mine at the door is $20

theirs were $25

get your facts straight

Lucas

I'm a punter, I don't care what you had to pay for your acts, I care about the price for ME! and if MTME got JB cheap, good on 'em, isn't that what being a good promoter is..?

In regards to my first post, I was just fuckin about to see if we could get some free tickets, but think of it this way, you made a fuckhead response to a fishing comment, and now me and my group of friends, say around 10 of us aren't going to your show, which is 10*15 presold.... Im not saying that's the case with me, but who knows who you are offending or is reading what you write on the internet.

Don't get on your high horse about being the lone soldier of trance in this city and about how if this party fails it will be the end of the world as we know it. I think you are pushing this point to the wrong crowd indeed! Last time i checked this is tranceaddict? and all of us have been present in force at every trance act in town for at least the last year or two!

I really do hope your party goes well and everything runs smoothly, but just remember we are on your side! In the end it doesn't matter how well you have managed your funds, or how cheap you've scored the main acts for if no one rocks up to see it. Adelaide is a small town and word of mouth is a great way to promote a party as its effective and costs you nothing except to show a little respect for the people you want to be at your shows!

Ahh dude your not comming?

I can understand what your saying about your moneys worth, but as Lucas said. its going towards good djs, good sound good production, this is the reason why so many local nights fail because punters dont go support there local djs (no gumble im not directing this at you, I know your a big supporter of the trance scene and its dj's, but i urge u to reconsider, youl be happy once youv rocked up!)

I promise ill buy u a drink :P

Posted by PulseFusion on May-05-2004 00:41:

Now now people, where's the plur? good points raised by both parties, the price is a bit above average for a mostly local (acknowledging some interstaters) but then again, the whole trance thing is still a bit rocky here in adelaide so much respect and thanks for the hard work that solace and lucas have put in, whether it be for us, the love of trance or just the money, they still are putting in effort and as far as if the promoters are putting in the effort, we will put in the support. it is a very fragile community and as someone said is very word of mouth orientated. so can't we just call it even and look forward to the weekend eh?

having that said, i may have to give it a miss as my standard trancing buddies have turned to the dark side, they all want to go get trashed in some un-namable r&b club closer to town instead... if i can bring along a buddy, ill come but it's not looking good.

on a lighter note, two bits of good news...

my favourite girlfriend has been promoted to girlfriend class 1 as she just learned to mix last night, mind you i don't want to hear nothing but you ever again...

secondly, i went to a careers seminar last night also, and a DSTO representative was interested and took my name down... he, he someone's going to be a rocket scientist. woo hoo!

p.s. solace, i didn't want to spill the beans, thought you'd like to . any update on that though?

Nice one brus! I don;t think theres anything more scary than doing all this studying and then finishing it and not finding yourself a job. Good work to you, i hopefully will have a job lined up by this time next year, fingers crossed.

Posted by PulseFusion on May-05-2004 12:22:

the freakiest bit is that i may *have* to travel overseas to work... there just isnt really that much in the way of job prospects here. i'm also hoping to do some postgrad study too so i got a while still...

Posted by LucasYork on May-05-2004 15:08:

ahhh nice one...

im considering moving to the UK, to study a music business degree....

it really interests me, but at the moment I'm finishing my network engineering...

good luck man
