Let's turn our attention back to the original posting which was commemorating WWII vets who sacrificed their lives for freedom.

This thread is to honor those vets and we don't need any mindless comments from the peanut gallery. I'm warning you, don't go degrading the accomplishments of our dead soldiers.

Ummm, yes, that's a good idea.

I also wanna pay my respects. Takes so much heart, soul and courage to go do what they did. I couldn't imagine them NOT doing it for us, therefore making us anything but free. What they did makes me proud to say I was born in the U.S.A., and in 1976, too.

D Day was one of the great military feats in history which was instrumental in turning the war.

How about we stop the flaming and just think about what happened all those years ago, and what it means to us today.

If you want to be insensitive about war or other things, do it elsewhere and the ones that showed their stupidity, just don't get it and you are really a shame to society, you don't care that many people died for OUR FREEDOM, so we could all have the things we do today. Most of the people who died, won't be remembered by name but heck, I thought that a thread had to be started about this because it is because of the war veterans that we live the way we do. So don't bother with the stupid b.S in this thread, it's just plain wrong and it is not the time.

9,000 MEN LOST THEIR LIVES ON JUNE 6TH, 1944 (this is not a joke, these people died for my freedom and yours)...so remember the veterans with respect and kindness.

I dont mean to be disrespectful, but clarify something for me. Didnt the troops go off to europe to fight the germans, where the germans wanted to take over europe? Doesnt that not qualify fighting for our freedoms, but rather fighting for the freedom of europe? Isnt that like saying the Americans took down saddam to liberate our freedoms, where our is the world freedom. I never really paid attention in social studies, bleh, someone explain how this relates to OUR freedom in north america?

The difference between then and now, is that from 1939-1945 it really was an attack on freedom. Thosuands of innocent brittish, french, russian, polish..... were slaughtered in their own homes by the nazi's. Don't forget it wasn't until america was attacked directly that it became involved in ww2.

France never made a decision to go to war, war made a decision to go to france.
