I still haven't gave up on the, still... Just because they're down 3-1, doesn't mean they're automatically going to lose. ANYTHING can happen in the NBA.

Mattsanity - mattsanity - mattsanity...Its about time you realize that the Lakers realize that they can't win...And if you didn't have hope for the Lakers still, then I would be surprised...Its over next game tho...Like I said from the beginning, but I'm not the type to tell you I told you so...haha..it was fun matt, i just hope next time we agree on the matter...

You should also realize that it isn't over 'till the fat lady sings. If you look back in NBA history, you would of seen Fisher hitting a shot with 0.4 seconds... Pippen hitting some wild shot with 0.6 seconds in the 90's and winning the game, after Reggie Miller thought it's over when he the shot prior... Celtics thinking they won the title in '76 when there was 0.9 seconds left, while everyone else from the crowd were collapsing onto the court 'cause they also thought they won the title, but the there was still time, and the a Suns player hit an unbelievable shot to go to overtime, so the Celtic's weren't champions yet. See, you can't count them out like that. How do you know the LAKERS realize they can't win? Were you in the locker room with them when they were complaining and shit? Thought so. They're poise and determination wasn't there. They'll most likely show it in the next 3 games, especially since they're in a do-or-die situation.

once again, the master has spoken...haha...ok, maybe i wasn't in the locker room when they were complaining and shit, but i saw them on the court during the game, their demeanor explained it all...they looked so down and defeated...even kobe...and thats never a good sign...i'm actually reaching the end of my rope on this...after game 5 could you atleast admit that i was right bout the results??...i knew it would end in Detroit after game 1...what more do I have to argue?...we'll talk after game 5...

if you mean rioting as in rushing the court and flooding the staidum floors, yes that will most likely happen...as for rioting in the streets with looting and such, i don't see that happening...the city of Detroit will, and should be, very happy but it still is just a basketball game...im sure they, Detroit's fans, will keep things in perspective...but then again, it is the first time they will win a championship since 1990 so who knows...

PISTONS 2004 WORLD CHAMPS!

Good luck next year LA. You guys will need it.

Posted by daydreamer on Jun-16-2004 03:50:

it was all about that boy BIG BEN!!!
great game from him, but it was a team effort that got the win.

Posted by BadBadNeil on Jun-16-2004 04:01:

And they can't complain about fouls because Pistons had a LOT called against them and they still were up by 24 points. Awesome Game!

Damn right. The whole team should have been the MVP. I dont wanna hear anything about what happened to the Lakers. The PISTONS were just a better TEAM period. My hat goes off to Coach Larry Brown. Congrats Detroit.

Posted by Mattsanity on Jun-16-2004 05:21:

Wow, amazing. The Lakers played way worse than I thought. Is it because of Piston's defense that made them look like playing undetermined? If not, then the Lakers should be ashamed of themselves.

First of all, I would like to say congratulations to the 2004 NBA champions, the Detroit Pistons. They deserved what they worked for the whole season. All those ups and downs, but they perservered more than any other team, and they managed to stay as one unit. Big ups to the Lakers. They made this series worth watching for the fans, and it was a better series than last year's. They deserved to be in the finals, and they were a good contender for the Pistons. Big ups to Malone. He was the backbone of the Lakers this season, and he was the reason why they got to the finals. I wish that he will remain a Laker, along with the other 3 hall of famers, and I hope they try to win it next year. Malone's career is far from over because he hasn't won a championship yet. If he wasn't in shape as he is now, he would of retired 4 years ago, and he said that himself. I believe he can endure for 2 more years considering that. Untill he wins that covet, we can take our hats off to him and make him leave the game in a fashionable way.
If the Lakers played at their best throughout the whole series, they would of had a higher possibility of winning it. Unfortunately, the Pistons exploited every answer to the Laker's problems, especially on defense, and just unexpectedly pummeling the Lakers in 5. It's ironic how an elite player in Kobe couldn't translate his words on the court. I thought it was a fact that the Lakers were going to own the Pistons in game 5. No offense to Kobe, I don't even think it's an offensive attack on him, but he should of pulled a Jordan and dominated the whole Pistons. I understand that Jordan struggled in '89 and '90 versus the Pistons, and I understand that Jordan's student was put in the same pressure, but I don't even think this Piston team were any better on defense than those Pistons. Their only great true defender is Wallace. Prince is always a darkhorse on defense. He will stop players on certain occasions, but he can never stop Kobe. Kobe was always driving in which was a good thing as he got his free throws, but he should of drove in for the attempts that he bricked the shots. I don't even remember him making atleast 5 jumpers. The Laker's offensive set is pretty useless when it comes to facing the Pistons. They do the triangle motion, and when Shaq passes out to his teammate, they brick the shot. I think they should of done other plays that would make the Pistons think twice. If Payton was actually determined for the championship, the Lakers wouldn't of been struggling, and they would of most likely won the series in 6, which I predicted before it started.
When Darko got his garbage time, he didn't do anything that would leave a last impression on the fans and his team. He bricked like 5 shots including the free throws, and he got his pocket stolen like 2 times. It seemed like he was so nervous that he was on a NBA court with a 22,000 fans watching him with every other player on the court who's better than him. I don't understand how most of you see a bright future in him. If you do, so be it. He can either be a star in the league, or he might be a bust. I see him leaning more to the negative side.
During the presentation for the Finals MVP and the NBA champions, Darko was at the back of the swarm. The light was shining on the whole swarm, and it was leaving out Darko LOL. I never even saw Darko getting a chance to touch the trophy. All of the members of the Pistons except him were touching the trophy and going crazy while he was just at the back like a Pistons spectator. See, he knew he didn't earn it. Imagine if he contributed to their ring, you would see him in the front of the swarm kissing and feeling the trophy. For 30 years altogether in college and NBA as coach, Larry Brown is the first NBA coach ever to win a championship on both levels. In 22 years, he has been waiting for this his whole life. He's truely one of the greatest coaches in history. His lack of rings doesn't show it, but his strategy creations and very smart decisions for the team in certain difficult circumstances overcomes that. He is a coach that eats and breathes basketball. You will only come across a very few coaches like him. I just found out that Larry Brown was available in open arms for the Raptors before the season started, but they passed him LOL. They passed up a coach who was the best strategy creater, and arguably the best current coach for a rookie coach would had no brains, but a somehow "firey" mindset. They said he was a defensive minded coach, but the Raptors were the worst defensive team in the season. My team would of automatically been in the playoffs if he was our coach. He would of made those scrubs such as Moiso, Archibald drastically better. That was probably the primary reason why that stupid Grunwald got fired as General Manager.
