Quick question! Will the entrance to the Loveparade be a free event for us. Because if that is the case, then maybe we can get a bunch of TA's, including ourselves who will be willing to chip in for the cost of ths operation. We can each put in $50-$100.

This is a call for "Tranceaddicts of the World" to unite and donate for a good cause. I may even consider putting in a few hundered dollars for this event. I really want to see this succeed. This is the first ever Loveparade in the USA. We shouldn't let this oppurtunity slide.

What do you think of this idea?

It's getting to be a bit late, if you ask me.
If lots of people had stepped up to donate money a couple months ago,
then maybe we could have done something. With LP giving people
so little time to submit applications, they've made it hard for informal, "virtual" groups like us to participate. And in my opinion, is a lot still to pull off in 2 months, esp. since applications are due very soon.

Take a look at the application, and you'll see that a lot of work needs to go into this. You really need professional equipment, construction, and engineering (in addition to talent) to pull something off like you see in LP Berlin.

I'm not giving up, but I'll still be there regardless to participate!

And yes, I'd be willing to donate a little (in addition to my time which I've already donated), but I just got hit with a $5500 car repair! UGH!!

car repair? sounds to me like your buying a new bloody car!

on another note, did we ever come up with any numbers as to how much money we need to get this float going? If we had a goal it would be a lot easier to look into.

take away the international talent, the lights etc. What will the basic cost for us to set up and play go for?

Anthony,

Well I can give this whole board some advice, never keep a german car, especially an Audi, when it's out of warranty (or at least get an extended warranty). When something goes, wrong, they commit suicide. No offense to german TAs...they make great cars, when they work.

Anyways, when I was looking at this before, I was guessing 10k minimum when accounting for booking talent. Through out that part of the equation, and maybe 5k to do it right (i.e. professional sound, renting a proper truck, paying someone to drive it, some insurance).

Well ok, so I don't know the exact numbers, but if we start doing things such as....using out own equipment ( i.e. a lot of us have out own CDJs, mixers, and turntables...but who has a decent power amp and a bunch of speaker stacks?) having ourselves spin,...etc...maybe it gets cheaper.

did you guys look at the application?

edit: oh sorry i missed some posts...

anyway i agree that it is a bit late. i've done big events before in 2 months and they went fine but never when i had to come up with the money in that time. but like fupaking said, i will defintely support all i can. i just dont see how we can get ourselves into this with no money.

Well, if we can't get a float this year, then at least we could meet up and attend the event so that we could be more prepared for it next year, that is if the event goes on next year.

I just found out the Love Parade is coming to SF. I'm really looking forward to going and meeting you all there.

I live in Berkeley, about 10 minutes from downtown San Francisco, and love the idea of TA meeting there and getting a float.

I'll support in any way possible so drop me a private message and let me know how I can help out.

Mike
