While I enjoyed aspects of the night, I personally found last night was his worst set I've ever witnessed in my 6 PVD parties. I thought the track selection was weak and when he finally started stringing together some good tunes near the end, he got off! It just wasn't hard enough for my liking. Nice crowd however, and I did like the added bonus of not smelling like smoke when I got home. PS. Working the next morning blows. |

| Originally posted by DarkWater It's nice not seeing a DJ who goes out there trying to appear Godly-all throwing their hands up in the air. He knew that we worshipped him, and so he didn't need the theatrics (not naming any names here). |

| Originally posted by PartEgurl That is an interesting way to look at it, and yes he did look very focused. Unhappily focused. I did like that about him, how he didn't try and act god like, he just made his music up there, and we could all repsond to it on our own. |

Ya I see a few smiles here and there, and that is good to see. Overall I just got the impression he was unhappy at the time, and so did a few others. It's just an observation, maybe I am used to overly happy Armin?? Jumping around with his arms in the air, with a huge smile on his face the entire time? When I am watching a DJ spin, if they are excited and energetic about thier music, I can't help but to act the same.
Funny- That was probably the happiest I've ever seen Paul. He's much more reserved and untouchable than most DJ's out there. The 1st time I saw him, I hated him, cuz he only looked up at the crowd twice the entire time, and he never smiled once. That really put me off him for a while. I've since learned to expect that from him, and if he's in a better mood than that, then it's a treat.

| Originally posted by High on PSI I liked how the guv wasnt packed like it was for Tiesto... lighting/setup was really good, just as it was for Tiesto. PVD was alright, played bangin tunes, but i would have liked it if he played a bit more of his own stuff. he played Naranja, which i really liked, cant get enough of that song. IMO, ferry on march 13th @ is still the party of the year to me ![]() I left @ 4am... anyone stay till the end/know how long it went till? |

I spotted RJ, Ken, and Goodnet first, then Barry, Ortemy, Cuzo and his gf, the_broad, tatgirl and wurm. Later in the night I met Trickdadde and his gf, magnetonium, NeonAlien, and Myway. Nice to see all of you, and hope to see you all again sometime soon.
Hi. This is Myway. I was thrilled to meet some of TOTAs at
PvD's gig.(PartEgurl
)I had been to the Guv for Ferry corsten in
march but there was any chance to back to the Guv awhile until PvD.
PvD was my answer. He revitalized me by his vibe. I had many
obstacles before getting to the Guv but it was proud of me to
overcome difficulties. Among his tracks I liked Naranja,Bilingual,
Voodoo People and Aftershock. From Mark Oliver's tracks , I liked
It's just won't do and Praiseworthy song.My highlights of the
night were an autograph from PvD and Dancing with TOTAs. I couldn't
get an autograph from PvD when I attended to his gig @ Roxy, NYC
but I was luckier in TO than NYC!!!
In addition, some of
TOTAs who I met at the Guv were amazing people. They were
friendly and very passionate about rhythms. I love you guys and I
wish I can clubbing with you guys at clubs in TO again. Well, My
summer highlight(PvD) finished. I am not sure about that I can catch
more gigs later in TO rest of this summer because I will be in Korea
after first week of July. I will be in Korea until end of august. I
hope to see Ferry Corsten with Heineken thirst in Seoul around
August. Well. Thank you all and PvD!!!!!

My Observations:
1) The train horn has to go i agree!
2) whistlers have feelings too
3) Motorola is probably why tickets didnt cost $30 more each so live with it. Who cares anyways?
4) Oliver plays ONE disco house song (which happens to be the biggest song in ibiza right now) as the sun comes up early in the morning and all the music snobs cant handle it. Grow up!
That is all

^^ I agree with your first three observations, especially that whitslers have feelings ! I am surprised that you were the only one who commented on my little story. I disagree with the mixes of different genres in the set though. Two is fine, but three, (progressive, trance, disco house) is just too much for me. I can't get into a set like that, I loose interest.
Shaya, he's so hot right now. (quasiquote from Zoolander)
..just came back from watching the soccer game, woah, Holland is in.
Late review:
I thought his set was ok but it wasn't what I considered to be anything over the top or memorable. His mixing was great but it just didn't 'feel' like I was listening to a PvD set - maybe it just wasn't long enough. Highlight was when he dropped that Katana track...which despite its age always sounds good.
As a side note, personally I think that ever since he started using Final Scratch that his sets have lost a certain something... no longer does is set limited by capacity (re: packing his record bag) and being forced to 'make do' with the tracks he has available to program his set throughout the night...
The sound and visuals were great - and there was lots of room to dance - but I felt there was more of a vibe/energy in the crowd when he was at Kool Haus back last fall - maybe its cuz its easier to have unobstructed view of the DJ from pretty much anywhere in there.
Margaret - He was 100x better in NYC, so don't worry
Nat / Christina - Thanks - we'll see u on the boat cruise
Guvaholic - nice to meet u & your gf
Special K - ya ya I know u r a tranceaddict in denial
guess I'm not the only one who thought PVD was disappointing. I thought his last set in KH was wayyy better. He played a much harder set this time and not quite the tracklist I was expecting. mixing was top notch, neverthless
For a while I thought this party was a little packed. well, especially in the front half of the dancefloor. I stuck around the back and had lots of room to dance so no complaints but it was hard trying to move around in the front. I can't imagine what it was like for Tiesto.
As usual, always great partying with the TOTAs. It was nice bumping into Vince and Ken at the party. that's right! Technoheads turned Tranceaddicts? lol j/k glad u 2 enjoyed PVD's hard set. Also nice to see the usual suspects (Del+gf, Durafei, Maxtuh, Ari, RJ, Ortemy, Nat, Cuzo, Hardcore trancer, Cyrus King, Ninja Pimp + anyone I missed, Wurm-->
not all asians look alike. dude mistook me for John Tang
Good luck with moving and come back for a party soon)
Much respects to John for the reduced and thnx for the drink.
I thought I'd see the hardcore partiers Mike, Jenna, Marge, Ray, Az but heard you guys didn't attend.
next party: Nu-Nrg! this will be a sweet one! Temporal Rythm and Viva never disappoints.
btw: the air horn is 100000000x more annoying than whistlers. down with the air horns Guv!
I dont think Tiesto and PVD are getting worse per se... i think people are expecting more as the hype machine gets bigger. In my opinion these guys have never been as good as they are hyped up to be. You have to remember that these guys got famous and hyped because of their tracks, not their mixing. Djing is just a good revenue source and a way to promote albums/singles. Chalk many of the reviewing comments up to a maturing audience i guess.
I agree with the comment above that half these "DJs" should stay in the studio. Let the DJs who specialize in DJing DJ and let the producers produce. If one happens to excel at both... BONUS!

No sure you can make a living in the business not doing both...what I think is more correct is that you WON'T break into the business if you don't produce your won tracks/remixes. It's almost hopeless breaking into the business (on a world class scale) if you don't make your own stuff...
It was a pleasure to meet some TA's with no T'Attitude.
Sorry I could not get back to you all sooner but I was recovering all day Friday and attended a pool party yesterday.
PVD was awesone hope everyone had a good time.
See you at G.G. on Wed!
DAMNNNNNNNNNNNNN! I missed such a great nite..... Musta been loads better than the 7th anniversary celebrations at Kool Haus coz all of us know that the Guv is WAYYYYYYYY Better
Now i'm gonna feel more shitty coz I#m gonna miss Marco V, MOTORCYCLE

, Johan Gielen and Paul Oakenfold too... They better be havin some good trance sets after the 25th of August when I come back to TO :S
