i dissagree. thats all i can be arsed to write.

Oasis are original, its just that many people only hear their tracks that make it onto radio, wonderwall is a great song, truly original, and just because it got played a shit load on the radio doesn't mean its bad.

So much RCHP stuff is more pop-esque than Oasis!

Oasis have so much depth and originality in their other stuff that doesn't make it to radio!

Don't judge them based on superficial knowledge, listen to some of their lesser know stuff and then you will see how much better than RHCP they are - just listen to "The Masterplan" album - in terms of originality and just all round brilliance.

I seriously cannot believe Oasis are going to lose this poll.

Oasis don't do anything original at all.

I don't think we could be possibly talking about the same band here...

Look, in the UK, Oasis are a pop band. They had a legendary chart battle with Blur in 1995/1996 to see who could get more number ones. They're Britpop. Pure and simple. RHCP are a rock band, and however popular they are, they aren't a pop band.

That's not how it seems in Australia!

UK Chart Hits Database
^ Up until the beginning of 2002. Type in Oasis and then Red Hot Chili Peppers and see who gets the most hits.

Do I live in the UK?

Even if this were the case, Oasis are still a far better group, some pop record bullshit cant tarnish that fact

what exactly does this prove? that because oasis had more successful hits than red hot chilli's, that makes them worse than the chilli's?

seems backwards logic there. ur slating them for being popular. maybe theyre popular because theyre good and liked? the only exception i can think to this rule is tiesto.

I'm proving they're far more commerical, which was one point I made that everyone disagreed with. RHCP started back in 1984, yet they only even got vaguely close to as commercial as Oasis in 1991.

nup, sorry dude but 2002,2003 RHCP were far more commercail than Oasis has ever been.
The only time that Oasis become slightly commercial was around the time of WTSMG..

Posted by Coup on Aug-25-2004 15:31:

the last red hot chilli peppers concert in the UK was a few months ago, and was at hyde park. they did a publicity deal with bbc radio one (the second biggest radio station in the uk (second to bbc radio 2 which is for older music)) where radio one advertised the chilli's concert, and played a chilli's track every hour, plus gave away tickets, and relayed the gig live on the radio.

it doesnt get any more commercial than that.

RHCP. No competition there.

...and the reason you think that is because you dont know what you're talking about? or do you have some point to back up what you said...

or the fact that your are too emotionally involved with Oasis to realise the fact that many people (more than half in this poll) rate RHCP higher than Oasis, It's one thing being a fan of oasis, but you have to also realise that there will be people who prefer rhcp in this poll, and that does not make them any worse of a music fan or any less knowledgeable, to the point where you have to question everyone who doesn't agree with you

If you think Oasis have never done anything like that you're seriously deluded.

CLEARLY the Chilipeppers........Oasis is cool and stuff, but the guys in it are really conceited, and they try too hard to be the Beatles. they need to find their own style.

Posted by DjSimonB on Aug-29-2004 17:24:

They're both very mainstream rock music, get over it.

That doesn't make either of them any less good.

Oasis - Stop the clocks

this tune is gonna be massive, hopefully it will make all you RHCP fans realise how good Oasis are!!
