You know I'm there bro. Just as FYI, different genres are being represented here. DNB, Trance, NRG, Hard House, and if we put Scorpio down, REAL Techno.

Add my star.

When do you need your answer by? I'm not sure when I'm going to Cali for the summer.

But otherwise, count me in.

Posted by Cinder_DCS on Sep-07-2004 02:24:

count myself and Feuhrer in

always ready to throw down some fun

Posted by Rememberence_ on Sep-07-2004 04:01:

That's too bad about the beach party Bo, what was it that would have been too hard to organise? Anyway, whatever the case I'm definitely in if you need me. Please put Octane and I down under the Pacific Trance / DCS affiliations

Cheers,
Packer

Posted by rapfiend03 on Sep-07-2004 13:08:

it was hard because i would have to hire police security, buy insurance, get approval from the count commisioner, etc... this way all i have to do is get contracts, pay for the rent, and sell tickets. so that is what i chose cuz it would be easier for me and prob us too. good thing about tequila frogs is that its on the bay and you can see the sunrise and sunset from inside the club. and deviantxpete asap is best but i can work around that .

DJ's:
1.*Dirk*
2.*Packer(Pacific Trance/DCS)*
3.*DJ Octane(Pacific Trance/DCS)*
4.DeviantxPete
5.*Feuhrer (DCS)*
6.*Cinder (DCS)*
7.PryZm(DCS)
8.Berzerk (DCS)
9.Koma(DCS)
10.*Scorpio(affiliation?)*

oh DCS are 7,8, and 9 down to do this?

Posted by DJ_Octane on Sep-07-2004 15:52:

Scorpio's affiliation is DCS, www.topjox.com

I know Joe (Berzerk)is down. He posts as JustJoe on here.

Posted by SID133 on Sep-07-2004 16:27:

do you have an idea about how much its going to cost to rent the place out?
is thier going to be a deposite or any misc duties to pay?

dude wont tell me how much it is to rent it until i have signed contracts but ima have to sell tickets to pay for the rent. so yeah and are you all(dj's) doing this for free? (i get all ticket sales and club gets all bar sales)

Posted by DJ_Octane on Sep-07-2004 21:23:

I don't know if I speak for everyone, but I'll do it for free. Most of us ride together anyway, so really all I may need is help with gas. If this party really goes off, it would be nice to get a small cut though

I think we should get a tentative date and find out how long we have to party so we can start putting the line-up together. Will this be one area or two?

Posted by SID133 on Sep-07-2004 21:32:

since it was moved from the beach to the club will any time ristrictions or anything drastic like that be placed on the event?

Posted by rapfiend03 on Sep-07-2004 22:00:

not that i know of teh owner said that all i had to do was pay for the rent(workers salary etc. included in rent) basically he never said no to the hours. and yeah man if we make enough(sell enough tickets) to actually pull a profit then yeah ill split it. prob only one stage but ill check. and as dates im looking at june 4(sat)-june 5 (sun) its the weekend after memorial day so there wont be AS many families.

Posted by digitalbreach on Sep-07-2004 22:13:

Idea

usually when we throw parties @ clubs

we usually take the door and promise the club owner so much @ the bar. Just an idea, but most likely this wont work in this situation. You should definately draw out a contract, if your gonna rent out a club.

Posted by rapfiend03 on Sep-07-2004 22:25:

i think thats what he meant but im not too sure i need to go talk to him again. i know he said that he wants ALL of the bar sales. which to me is reasonable cuz i dont wanna mess with tabc or anything like that. but i need to have him clarify it more.

Posted by SID133 on Sep-07-2004 22:43:

what ever agreement you and the owner reach make sure that you get it in writing and it is signed and noterized just for shit and giggles

any way i can help just let me now im not a dj but ill help out with whatever

Posted by rapfiend03 on Sep-07-2004 22:45:

cool thanks for the help everybody. also should i try to get something like ticketmaster to sell tickets or should i just sell them myself?

I agree with what Dave said, as long as gas is covered and we perhaps drive back that night then I'm fine with that, and of course it would be a bonus to get a cut if the profits suffice.

Regarding the tickets, I'm not speaking from experience but it would make sense to me to have presale tickets available for a fraction less than the door price. Will call is also simpler than having actual tickets too, but then I'm not sure about a decent online ticket vendor... so I'm stumped there. (they all seem to rip people off)

Also, if the owner is taking all the bar profits, I certainly hope the rent is not too steep were I in your shoes, I would definitely talk to as many people that have rented venues as possible, you don't want to agree to a contract that jibs you! Keep us posted

Posted by DJ_Octane on Sep-08-2004 01:51:

Yeah, most likely you need to leave the bar to the owner. The TABC rips into their profits so much, they can't afford much else. We shoudl be fine with the door. I hear the people in the valley really love to party and I'm sure they could make the drive. Also, I know some peeps from Laredo that would make it out. Just let us know the time copnstraints so we can make up a good lineup. I would like to have different genres represented as well as other parts of the state.

Posted by rapfiend03 on Sep-08-2004 17:41:

yeah i would too. at the best i would love for this to be the biggest EDM festival/concert in texas but i know that that will be hard to pull off.

and a final lineup with contracts and dates/times = the time that the owner will tell me how much the rent is(yeah i know its stupid) = the time when we'll know how much tickets will be and how many we need to sell = who will be willing to sell them = the beginning of the end of the planning.

hopefully by oct. ill be able to bring actual contracts to adreniline(sp?) hopefully.......

oh can you all get in contact with other DJ's to tell them about this cuz i want more DJ's from other parts of texas.

Posted by Rememberence_ on Sep-08-2004 18:15:

Do you have some kind of requirements for these DJs? Experience? Style of music? How many stages do you think we'll have?

Posted by DJ_Octane on Sep-08-2004 21:29:

Here's some I recommend:

DJ Na8 - House (Laredo)
ArcAngel - Hardcore/Downtempo (New Braunfels)
*23 - Acid Techno (New Braunfels)
Anaken - DNB (San Antonio)

We can try to get a rough estimate of how much time we have and then go from there. DCS, we need to get together to figure out who will play from our roster. For sure it should be:

1. Cinder (DNB)
2. Feuhrer (NRG)
3. Packer (Trance)
4. Octane (Trance)
5. Berzerk (UK Hard House)
6. Scorpio (Techno)

I pick these 6 because all 6 of us post on this board. If we're just running one stage, we need to open it up for the other guys. Once we know how much time we have, then we can add more but for now, I think we should go with this 6.

I would like to see these guys too:

1. Dirk W.
2. Pee-tah
3. ArcAngel
4. DJ Na8
5. Anaken or Aika
6. *23
7. Pope Gregory
8. Ferry Corsten

LOL, I don't know if I should be on the same ticket as Ferry Corsten, but I will do my best. I really need to get more live stuff done in order to "get used" to the feel of things. Public performance kinda makes me nervous so I need to get adjusted before June. Guess there is plenty of time for that though.

I am looking forward to hearing the DCS crew. I have seen ya'll talked up so much and I am sure you can deliver so it will be exiciting to see and meet ya'll. Looks like this thing is coming together.

Posted by Cinder_DCS on Sep-09-2004 02:27:

If anything, ask to take the door. Most clubs require a deposit, some dont, depending on management. TABC demands like 10-15%, with that in mind, let the venue take the money. Unless they wanna negotiate a cut. If so, have that shit put in writing and notarized. Some venues can get shiesty(sp).

As for presales, only do pre-sal;es if you Book a regional headliner (ie - Kid icarus, Ron-E) or a major headliner. Many online ticket sales (ticketmaster, star tickets, etc) demand a percentage, thats why its safe to just do a "at the door" thing if its only locals. You can do presales, but a limited amount, if you print them yourself or get them printed, ya know? and have them distributed at various places (record shops, clothing stores, etc)

Now, as for kickback, I myself *i think i can speak for most of DCS, if i dont, kiss my ass :P jk) when i say, just some gas and some food man. Now, if you do make a killing, then maybe implement the rule of 5's and tens (if entry is 5 and you have 100, thats 500 bucks) i would have to explain that one later. But for the most part, kjust some gas and and food man. I am assuming you are a gperson of good character, so with that in mind, i would not ask for a payment unless you do make a nice chunk of change. This is to bring different genres together and to show peeps a good time, so i am down.

as for talent, i recommend these names outside of my crew:

Breaks - Pope G, Kevin Titus
House - Daveed and Lucas Wade, Boogie Monster (not sur ehow much he will ask for)
Trance - i wil leave this to you guys

Dnb - bwahha - Aika, Anaken, SDF3,Zero (these guys ae good peoples, trust)

hardhouse/NRG - Johnny Dove, no one else in SA besides my boys tickles my fancy)

Techno - Tremor, Ruckus, *23 *these men kills it* and uhmm, me thinks thats it

yea, i hope i didnt ramble on too long

OH YEA, if you do put up dnb, please please please make sure there is a good soundsystem for it. with at least a monitor. So many book DnB on shit sound nad its complete disrespect, naw mean?

Posted by Feuhrer on Sep-09-2004 02:50:

Sorry I havent posted in a while. Life has been hectic, and I got an XBox w/Halo...so I have been melting my brain by playing games and going to school...ANYWAY! Like many members of my crew have previously stated, gas, food, and maybe a place to shack up, in the case we play late sets, would be nice. I don't much care for kick back, I just want a place to stay and at least 3 Jack and Cokes !!
If you need help in any other way please let me know how I can help.

EMAIL: [email protected]
YIM: ToolsGod01
AIM: Feuhrer2001

email me for phone number if needed.

Thanks for all the support for the crew ladies and gents!

Some good and trustworthy advice there Andy. And I agree on the equipment, Bo, when you talk to the club owner, I guess closer to the date of the event (as they may change their equipment between now and then), it would be a good idea to ask what kind of setup they have and maybe even checking it out. Mainly the monitor(s) in the booth and just to see what mixer they have (for the lesser experienced DJ it helps a lot to know in advance).

I think having texas talent is key but in order to draw the people, there has to be a headliner, or two or three....however that would require paying them. In the valley there are plenty of parties with local talent and that's all fine and dandy but it doesn't necessarily draw crowds...people who pay want to know they're going to have a good time - and a way to guarantee that is by having a couple of people whom they know or have heard of...(kid icarus, Ron-E, etc...)

also, mad respect to everyone who is participating but would this really draw people from other parts of texas and would it convince them to make a drive down there...??? I know this would be the FIRST year, but it be nice to introduce this as an annual event with drawing power...assuming this is an annual thing, the first year might only draw people from the valley but fuuuck it! Word of mouth is good!

I know this is more critique than actual ideas on how to pull it off but I'm trying to think of other ways this could work .... I really do think energetik.com should get involved because people in the valley who are into the scene post on the boards a lot and are ALWAYS looking for parties - and YES, they DO love to party =)

anyway, just some thoughts...and i'm willing to help in advertising this event....i know some people aren't partial to this, but advertise this as a texas "rave" and i guarantee more people will come...
