i agree
i've been to a lot of house clubs, which i like too, but after being at a trance night its hard to go back, house just doesn't make me feel the same way
unfortunately house is so much more popular, trance is hard to find

i would listen to trance 24 hours a day if i could...im a true addict, and in the process if turning newcomers onto my favorite music EVER

Posted by cosmicstar on Oct-17-2004 18:53:

Well, the people who don't like Trance don't like Trance because they don't know what a melody is. This happened to me. I gave somebody a Trance song and they said they don't like it. I said listen to the melody. They went: "What hell is a melody????".

To the main topic....I guess it's hard to explain why we are so addicted to Trance. I personally think that once you like Trance it changes the way we listen to music. I could listen to Pop music and like it because of the melody. But nothing beats Trance.

Does anyone else find that they go through a period where they don't enjoy the music at much (sometimes it feels like nothing),

then there's other times where u can't get over it, it's just so fucking good. A track u never liked fucking hits u like a Airliner landing on top of ur head...

I find that the best time to listen to tracks u don't like is when ur really fucking tired... yet comfortable ( i remember waking up at night and listening to an ASOT episode, and loving this track I never really liked before)... i sometimes leave my Mp3 player on overnight, so i listen to the music as i sleep.... sweet dreams... should try it sometimes...

me addicted? - defantly since 14 !

i listenin to it all the time - Work - Play - Raving - Driving

It seems to suit everymood/situation, classic stuff , never give up loving it

omfg i love you guys.....where the hell are you in Miami!!!! I need to meet more tranceaddicts like you guys!!!!!! Electronica is amazing! I listen to it everywhere, although trance is my favorite right now. I think it's true that we really do seem more addicted than othere ppls, but whatever. I look at it this way...they are missing out....plain and simple guys. They are missing out. I'm trying to convert some of my friends but it's hard down here in Miami with the strong rap and hip hop influence.

Ha ha..

i always thought that EDM was big in Mimai, with the radio stations playing dance, and paris hilton getting bood for raggin "TECHNO"

When i first came on TA, I had the same feelings as u..

Australia is worse than US...

things here are commercial.. this country has no music culture, it follows only America, and anyone else who's doing well in the world.

On your other comment, I think this type of music attracts a certain personality-type- people who get bored easily with things that are mundane... And so much music is mundane.

You are correct. I know for sure that INTJs love anything melodic. They are the type of personality to get bored easily. Also, smarter people tend to love anything melodic.

And since I'm biased, I'm going to say that the best people on earth listen to EDM.

i'm so addicted to it because it's so catchy. Trance is like the essance of pure emotion if that makes any sense.

what's INTJs anyhow?

I agree witht the smart bit... I do feel taht peopole on TA are very intelligent and articulate...

they make statements and tend to back it up real well

They are also more accepting of others

wow- i thought i was one of the few people who cared about personality types... i also happen to be an intj... and i think that trance is definitely more intellectual, especially since so much of it is lyricless, your mind has to wrap itself around the melody and the beat... plus the manipulations and the progression, all of that is complete aural sex.

w00t! you're right on the dot with what you just said. It really is hard for other people that aren't into trance to understand the meaning of the melody and beats that are played into trance. People find the repetitive beat annoying, but everyday when i wake up and go to sleep, i definitely am listening to trance music...it keeps me awake and interested in the things that i'm doing, like my hw or just talking to ppl online. Trance definitely is friggin great unlike many other types of music that are infused with lyrics and goddamn uber repetitive beats.....HAH and i just noticed that ppl that say that trance is repetitive have got to be kidding me, because of how most types of music have repetitive beats. Anywho, Trance is really awesome when it comes to individuality....i think i liked trance because of the way it really correlates to Classical music. And i've been playing the violin for about 8 years. So really, classical and trance are correlated with each other....AND IT'S TRUE!!!! omg

trance grabs you by the balls and pulls you in hehehe

nah it's just music that allows you to interpret it for yourself... i love it! addict all the way here

I am not sure, but I am definitly addicted !!

Posted by M1cro5lave on Oct-29-2004 22:06:

When I didn't listen to trance (I was young and mislead by the music on radios), I was pretty wide. I could listen to rock and pop as well as country(!) and old disco megahits.

When I started listening to trance (4-5 years ago), all of these other genres faded away, and trance dominated my whole music style. I felt really good, and I can't stand the old disco megahits and country music anymore. Makes me sick and just wanna go away. If people play it, I intend to just walk away because it gives me a terrible headache.

Trance dominates my world. Happy hour, I'm truly a tranceaddict!

this is funny, but i played the violin for 14 years. i still love classical music, but only when i actually see it it live. i think trance is almost the 21st c. version of classical music. most of the producers have even had classical music training, etc. maybe debussy would have been making music like this if he had been living now not to say that this is a replacement, since even now there is good classical music being created.

I agree with that...

BUt guys INTJS (NO-ONE ANSWERED MY FUCKING QUESTIONS... I'm PRESUMING THAT MEANS INTELLECTS)....... A lot of druggos are into trance as well... Trance sounds awesome on E or Mary Jane... A lot of people only start listening to trance once they've experimented with drugs, and they start loving it...

Hmmmmm.... I wonder if it's certain brain characteristics that mean people like trance... maybe even somethign to do with genes? Definately, it has to be a brain thing if a lor people start loving trance it after doing drugs.

Posted by Eis on Oct-31-2004 16:44:

Addicted to what?
If it's the music you mean then I think it's just normal for a fairly low-publicity genre to have a dedicated fanbase..

Yes, pretty much all intellectuals are attracted to melodic things. That and those who get bored a lot are attracted to melodic stuff. Rational personalities love melodic things.

Posted by Krypton on Oct-31-2004 21:43:

i wonder myself, and its weird. maybe its chemistry. for those wired for trance, it could cause the pleasure part of our brain to be much more active than someone not wired for trance or when i listen to some other musik.
