MTV Dance in the UK do sometimes play some good shit

A few weeks ago was watching it until around 3am, one great video after another

Astral Projection - Chaos
BT - Embracing the Sunshine

The one thing MTV Dance does really badly is research. Anyone remember the screenshot of the 'Ferry Corster remix'? Well the other night on the Creamfields '04 show the caption read: 'Mario Picotto' oh the shame

Bullshit. One million singles in the UK alone would make it one of the Top 100 best-selling singles in the UK chart history, which it definitely isn't. In the 2000 overral Top 40, Zombie Nation were at number 38, and KernKraft 400 hit number 2 for two weeks. There's no way in hell the track sold a million singles in the UK.

Didnt like ATRC in the first place.

Yeah...Sandstorm didn't even go platinum in the UK and it's a worldwide multi-platinum track.

Actually I don't know if that proves any points...meh.

I have it on special edition single, which says Sandstorm was the biggest selling 12" of 2000, going Gold in UK and Germany and platinum in Ireland and Scandanavia.

and at the same time, I've never liked it ever

I remember the first time it got played on sensation i think it was, Ferry had just banged out a mint set, ended very techy-cum-electroish with stuff like RYBR (F Massif Rmx) and Armin came on so much slower and i felt so much energy go, but even 2 minutes into the song people were calling it the best song ever, i never understood why & i still don't

I admit it doesn't have an amazing build up, but the main lead gets me everytime. And the bass...

I guess I have some personal attachements to it. I'm no fan of the original or any other version tho..

i still like it, brings back good memories of 03

csi

wow, that song was almost dead when i first heard it. yes, i'm new to the trance scene. i first heard the song on csi - miami back in april (for the record, i hadn't ever watched the show - it's all about the original). i said, what is that song!?! and after some extensive googling, i figured it out. so the fact that it was on a tv show AND I was crocheting a hat at the time while sitting at home, alone on a friday night must make it more dead. i still like it though

amen to that

Posted by brian on Sep-27-2004 21:55:

It'd be slightly more dead if people stopped making threads about it.

I loved hearing it live when Armin played it last April. If you like it, I don't see the problem. I don't give a crap what other people play, DJs or radio stations or soccer moms or whatever. I just like it, and therefore listen to it.

Ok, SOMETIMES it's cool to hear trance radio edits on some stations or played by a trance compilation, but nothing more unless they're the FULL REMIXES/MIXES.

Radio edits are teh ghey for trance because it takes away the buildup. Only 'Dance' music fits radio edits really.

ATRC will still be classic to me, don't give a fukk what anyone says.

Here's a new concept...

How about basing your opinion of a tune on how it moves you (or doesn't) when you listen to it - instead of where/who/what is playing it at any given time.

OK PPL S T O P I T
it a classic whored track (no1 was smart enough to say this
)
its an amazing track and i still like it but when you listen to it all the time then its not magic anymore its not special anymore so you start hating it.
am i right or am i right?

maybe you are right. i do think a truely special song never quite loses the magic. it doesn't matter whether i've heard it 5 times or 100 times. it's all about personal preference in the end.

They played it at a HIGH SCHOOL DANCE I was recently performing glowstick poi at. I think this is what Motorcycle WANTS... it will become popular by the masses, but hated by the true fans. Let's hope this isn't gonna be like heaven or sandstorm (which, contrary to ATRC, WERE SHITTY TRACKS!!).

Posted by erdega on Sep-29-2004 04:29:

I heard it on cnn headline news couple of weeks ago. It's no big deal. As someone said before, special songs are resistant "wear and tear" so I don't mind but look forward to it.

Sandstorm was a better track than ATRC.

No. The track is shit.

I love this song. I don't care what anyone thinks.

Maybe it's cause I didn't hear it a lot when it first came out?

But either way, whenever I hear it in G&D's EM, I love it.
