Sorry to hear about you havin a shitty time trancearmada, too bad I didn't get to see you there either! But yeah, I'd never dare go to the front of the stage at a party, doesn't matter if it IS my favorite dj (Tiesto) up there or not, there's NO room to dance, and shit like that happens. It's happened to me before, tons of times, that's why I spent my night in the back with some other TA's, there was room to dance, I could see Tiesto clearly, and the sound was perfect (definetly NOT too much bass in Souvenir De Chine)! So basically you gotta weigh out the pros n conjs of where you're gonna spend your party next time! Peace.

Hahahaha, you know your Tiesto buddy! I'm sorry to hear your night was so shitty. For any big DJ or big party there's ALWAYS gonna be assholes there. The thing is I find most of them up at the front, mixed in with all the loyal fans. The Kool Haus is a wicked venue, you could see Tiesto from pretty much anywhere you stood so maybe next time just try to find a spot further back.

It was absolutely key for me to find friendly people in the place, if I hung around assholes for too long my night would have turned out shitty like yours. So that's what I did, I walked around, talked to friendly people, danced, and enjoyed the music. So, to comment on the crowd, it was a nice crowd as long as you went out and found them.

As for the set, holy memories from Wintergalactic Batman! Eugina, just when the disco biscuit kicked in. OH. MY. GOD. Incredible. I definitely would not have enjoyed his set that much had I been sober, I would have thought most of his songs were a bit played out, but it was nice hearing GOOD trance all over again. Silence was a bit much though, too overplayed, even during the mental state I was in. Cloudwalking was the tune of the night for sure, I remember singing along with a guy near the chill room in the back: "Do do doo da-do do doo!" Yes, it may sound cheezy/dumb now but it was definitely a trance moment.

In comparison to Wintergalactic, overall WG was way better, but I liked Tiesto's set at Kool Haus more cause it was ALL trance, and that's what we wanted to hear. See y'all at PvD.

Have to agree with that, I walked in, walked around the side to the back by one of the speakers and parked it right there, (pretty close to the meeting spot). I had a good view and plenty of room to dance too and no ginos around at all. Had some cool people chilling by me in the back dancing all night long.

Sneaker Pimp too much fun!

i thought tiesto's set was excellent!
my night went almost exactly how i planned it, except i did'nt catch his headphones which i knew he was going to throw to the crowd cause he does that almost everytime he spins, oh well... i got my picture of him from ibiza signed although his silver pen kinda blotched whatever though. i'm reading alot of mixed reactions about his set though, about the tracks he played being old or to known..but what did you expect four hours of brand new tunes? he played everything i wanted to hear and more, urban train was the best that song has the craziest build-ups ever and it's produced by none other than the man himself which made hearing it that much better! i never knew i could meet so many peeps by going to a club by myself (all my t.o. friends ditched out) but everyone i met was awesome especially the ta's trancearmada (sorry you did'nt have as much fun as i did), arcticboy,
ruff ryda (you were chillin, i know you had a good time, sorry i could'nt come chill, maybe next time im in t.o.)and to that cutie in the ta shirt forgot your name but you've gotta be the prettiest ta i met all night, i know there's more but i'm bad with names especially when they're aliases oh well tiesto rocked the house, and me, can't wait for him again even if he does play the same set, tiesto rules ginos suck ass! later

The party that night was awesome, Del (Swamper) it was almost as good as our time at Connected (two years ago, v4 I think)... Tiesto killed it.. a crazy set, it was awesome.

Ian - Welcome to TO, glad you had a blast, awesome to have met you.. your NYC ars be welcome here anytime.. one day Del, I and the rest have to check out NYC!! for sure!

Rich - You was fakkin drunk lol... I kept looking to make sure you never got lost lol... another NYC fella great to have met!

Posted by Evmac on Oct-09-2001 20:58:

Yeah...
I saw the "No-Shirts" rush a couple of people that night..
Too bad TranceArmada, I guess its where you were ion the club because some spots were alright people wise. Wintergalactic 2001 had a better vibe I think, but Tiesto did play a lot of favourites but I personally like that.

Well, I think Im going to PVD tomorrow!

Hey, was that to the left of the meeting spot? Cause if so, that's where I was almost the whole night!

ramsey

Ramsey Dude, sup. Tiesto was da shit! REmember me?? The dude
next to you, in the orange tee...

TranceArmada is prolly the 1 out of 2500 peeps who had no fun.
I must admit, that was the greatest club/party I've ever been to..

Yup, almost right in front of the speaker on the left (Looking at the stage). I had a pair of jeans on and a blue t-shirt with some chinese lettering on the front and a dragon on the black (two shades of blue).

Posted by Boy trance on Oct-10-2001 00:10:

Hmm, I'm not sure I remember you... I was just between the opening of that speaker and the curtain in the center, and sometimes a lil behind there! I was wearing a baby blue long sleeved v-neck, baggy dark blue jeans, and white gloves...

Too bad you didn't have fun TranceArmada...I remember meeting you and I'm sorry i couldn't hang out with you for long (my friends from NY had come over for only 2 days and we decided to club togather). I have to say that although the crowd had it's share of Gino's, they didn't bother me that much. Having clubbed in NY Clubs like Twilo and Exit which are Gino Heavens I thought that the Gino to normal ppl ratio in Guvernment is not bad. In fact most of the Gino's I bumped into didn't give me any dirty looks (maybe it's cause i'm 6'5). Anyway I agree that although Tiesto set contained good tunes, it was very predictable. Having seen Tiesto Essential Mix tracklist i was kinda expecting a more experimental set, but it seems he played basically the same thing as he did in Montreal. Too bad cause i think he is more talented then that.

No you got me all wrong I had fun it's just that there was way too much shit that ruined the night for me. Don't worry about hanging out together, I am sure we can do that at PVD.
The thing is I am like 6'3 and I was surprised those punk even tried picking a fight with me.
As for Tiesto, mentioned exactly what I was about to post. He had almost an identical set to that of Montreal he played a night before. I was expecting a slightly different show, but Tiesto did not impress as much as he did at the Wintergalactic earlier this year.

Posted by Durafei on Oct-10-2001 03:10:

Well, as I mentioned earlier I agree that his set was very predictable. Nevertheless, the set was still very enjoyable. I judge DJ sets by the kind of music DJ plays, and not by "predictability" of the set. Most people enjoyed Tiesto's set as it was. If he started experimenting, a minority(most likely Us, tranceaddicts) would've really loved it, but majority of people, who are not that hardcore trance fans, would not have liked it at all. That's exactly the reason why Essential Mix was that progressive: Majority of UK audience loves progressive. On the other hand, public in Montreal and Toronto is very similar. We are relatively new to Trance. I doubt he is playing Delerium-Silence anywhere in Holland or UK. Yet, most people enjoyed hearing that track here.

The thing I find wicked is how things change. When he dropped Urban Train and Souvenir De Chine during Wintergalactic, nobody cared. Nobody knew titles of those tracks for that matter. Now, these two tracks are like the biggest trance hits ever.

One thing I'm dissapointed about though, is that he didn't drop any Gouryella tracks. That really would be the highlight of the night for me.

Posted by Crazy Serb on Oct-10-2001 03:13:

Well, I didn't catch Tiesto at the Wintergalactic, and this was actually my first time seeing him live... and for that reason, I think he rocked the place! And so what if he had almost the same set as he did in Montreal - I wasn't there! And what does this set have to do with any of his previous sets? I am just guessing that he is trying to put up an equally good show in every city he visits, so what if the sets are almost the same (except he didn't play Riva - Stringer in KoolHaus, damn it!)... the important thing is that we all enjoyed it, me especially, and can't wait to see him again!!!

As someone said it before, Tiesto's got the trance, we got the energy (or something along those lines)...!

Nobody cared?? Trust me people cared! Especially with Souvenir De Chine! And the reason nobody knew the title of it was because it wasn't anywhere near released, we were actually literally one of the FIRST to experience that tune in a club/rave ever! And alot of us knew about Urban Train when it played then! But I know what you mean, what djs have to do is learn to balance the old with the new, in order to (try and) please all of us!

I really hate it when people start nit picking! When some one is of a mythical status, and as close to perfection as you can get, people will look for complaints just to discredit. Tiesto played an unbelievable set, and it was an unbelievable atmosphere! I could have not wished for anything more. Tiesto just made my year. Like I said before in my post, friends of mine who are not really into trance and came along, fell in love with Tiesto. They could not believe how intense his style was and how unified and energetic the crowd was. Hell, at least you were not hit on all night by a gay guy, like my little cousin Mike was. He did not complain, for the music was too trancending (he's straight BTW)! LOL

I just wanted to say that I'm still buzzing after this set...I can't stop thinking about it. Whenever something upsets me, or gets me down, I think about the set and my day is bright again. Not too many dj's can do that...

Playing Urban Train or Cloudwalking here on my computer brings tears to my eyes.

I couldn't have asked for a better night, and I can't wait until the next time I see Tijs live.

Long live epic.
Steve

Wow... here's my late review... i have to say that that party was FUCKING KING!!!!!!!!!!! The set up in Kool Haus was fucking great all those screens and shit were perfect for the occation!!! OMG.... what amazing night for Trance.... minus Addy's set, i thought he sucked straight up!! They should've had Viceroy there (you know how to finish wicked parties properly)! Matt's set wasn't too bad, there was the odd song i didn't enjoy, but oh well... the song that got me goin from his set was that one that goes "Annihilating!", i only heard that once before on the Paladin 4.5 mixtape, anyways that song is amazing and set the crowd up good for Tiesto to come on. Tiesto set no matter if it was predictable in some parts at all was still great cause we got to hear him do that shit here, and on an amazing system..i was there with my brother (KevinExcite) and a bunch of other people... Boy Trance it's always cool seein you at parties, i'm pretty sure i met some other T.A.'s.. i think i met xtc Totalle, but i can't remember (if i did, sorry for talkin to for so short of time, i was talkin to so many people), didn't get to see everyone cause i was in another world that night!
... So not long after Tiesto's set i ended up leaving cause i had to work the at 2pm that day so i wanted to get some sleep, plus Addy's set was doin nothing for me, so we left... all in all, it was a great night!

Posted by Viceroy on Oct-11-2001 01:57:
