If it had been amazing, I would have said so, without a doubt.

And I'm very into my music - ask anyone who knows me. I just dont like a lot of the shit discussed on here - and I'm not the only one. Just look at some of the people who have said the same thing. Just because you believe 'electronic dance music' only consists of Tiesto and Armin, doesnt mean that I dont like 'edm' because i dont like them.

u either need to lighten up or get laid

if he wanted constructive criticism, he would have posted in the Amateur DJs forum.

Like I said before some people require that you pressure them in order to understand why they said such comments. Sometimes people are lazy or sometimes people feel they can say shit without explaining.

I literally had to go through 3-4 pages of fighting with Laushinameee before I got an answer or something constructive about my mix.

I think you learn after awhile how to handle criticism online. DJ's have different strategies they follow. I like to pressure people to understand the rationale behind the criticism. Other DJ's just ignore criticism in its entirety and form a 'hard shell'. How you handle criticism is obviously personal preference but also a reflection of your personality.

Either that, or they just get sick of arguing and say something to make the other person give it a rest.

I wouldn't call it arguing but rather an explanation of the comments one makes relating to criticism towards a mix or a DJ.

For example an explanation such as:

This was shitty because....

Or I don't like this because.....

Rather than:

You suck.

This is Shit.

My Review of the Mix

One Man Army - The Anthem

* Not the best tune to open the set with. I believe you need something to grab attention or set the mood.

Starkid - Crayons (Leama & Moor Mix)

* Markus Schulz and those GDJB bedroom wannabe DJ's have played the shit out of this song all summer. It was good in June but now its tacky and overplayed. You should not have played this tune on Fritz.

Brian Eno - An Ending (Leama & Moor Mix)

* Beautiful song. Not overplayed that much. Good Choice. Maybe should have opened with this song.

Filterheadz - Yimanya

* To be honest I think you should have picked another Filterheadz song. This is ok but other Filterheadz songs are better and have more energy. Especially given that this is the 2nd to last song of the mix. You need to make an impact in the mix and this song isnt the correct choice imo.

Futureshock - Prides Paranoia (Marco V Mix)

Awesome song. One of my fav. Good Choice to use it to end a set.
But it doesnt fit in this prog. trance set you started from track 1 to track 4.

I think you were trying to slowly build the set but given your time constraints I think you should have just picked a mood and built around that mood. It seems that you were trying to go from prog. trance to hard trance in 30 min. You cant do that. If you plan to do that you need more time and more tunes.

Mixing was good.

I'l do mine
track 1: Don't ever play it again
track 2: Every fucking **** in the world is playing it. If you have to play crayons, play the scribblin on the walls mix, it's better
track 3: Nice tune, wouldn't play it myself, but can't knock you for it
track 4:
track 5: Aloud Sex n sun (Prydz mix) would have been a better choice, especially on Fritz

Posted by Kuffdam on Nov-04-2004 16:50:

The set is actually this...

1. One Man Army - The Anthem
2. Starkid - Crayons (Leama & Moor Mix)
3. Brian Eno - An Ending (Leama & Moor Mix)
4. Filterheadz - Yimanya (Original Mix)
5. Futureshock - Prides Paranoia (Marco V Mix)
6. Jose Amnesia - The Eternal (Nu Nrg Mix)
7. Magnolia - Its All In Vain (Dogzilla Mix)
8. Signum - First Strike (2004 Remake)
9. Delerium - Silence (Above & Beyond Mix)

The mix was given along with several cd's when I met PVD last week at his Scotland gig. He told me he doens't listen to mix cd's so probably wouldn't get back to me on that....

Later that week I was contacted and told that he had listened to them and really enjoyed this mix and would like to use the first 30 mins of the mix on his show..... so his choice....

The guests only ever get 30 mins. I was not ask to do a new mix as he wanted this one for the show and simply confirmed with me that I would be to be a guest.

well kuff, I thought it was pants and it was boring as feck. You sold out kuff, you only play fanny trance now. It was so boring, I turned it off about 14 mins.

Way to jump in after the dogs have already had their dig at the carcass!

Posted by NiteMer on Nov-04-2004 18:46:

I love "The Eternal". I played it at a Halloween party this weekend (same mix), but I think I still prefer the original. Maybe after I get used to hearing the NU NRG more, it'll catch up in interest. Classic track.

well maybe if u say why it was shit then u would be helping out...constructive criticism would do us all a better all u can come up is that its shit...u seem on the edge all the time...

Posted by Laushinameee on Nov-04-2004 19:05:

is it not blatently obvious though? the whole set was wank trance, apart from a filterheadz track, which happens to be the worst thing they have ever made. It was shit because the music was shit, its quite simple.

Yeah, but listen to all the wank trance PVD plays. He plays some great tracks and some overcommercialized garbage. I don't hear you bagging on him, ever. Tell him that his set is overplayed, too commercial, or whatever your reasoning for not liking it is. Saying someone's set is shit, but not expanding on it, is worthless. That's an opinion statement with no validation. I know that you know and understand the music, so demonstrate that rather than just flaming.

Just curious, what do you think is good music? Do you actually like trance? If so what kind?

yes PvD plays some shit, and if you cant see me saying that then you arent looking hard enough. Anyway theres no need to bring other djs into this... its not kuffdam versus.... its just comments on kuffdams mix, which was appauling. It was really bad, and anyone with an ounce of taste will not fail to reach this conclusion.
