For some strange reason I found this thought hilarious. Probably because the image of transport planes full of x-boxes and ps-2s going to Southeast Asia briefly popped into mind.

In the past I would have said yes, but I think it was a shallow viewpoint on the issue.

Death is just death. When you are dead you have no feelings or regrets, no suffering, and no sadness. It is much worse to be the survivor, to see the lifeless body of the person you love so deeply and to be powerless to do anything for them. That pain and that suffering cannot be imagined unless you have experienced it yourself, and it is a fate far worse than death. So I do not think I could ever believe that I would actually be doing someone a favor by dying if they truly cared about me, and if I genuinely loved someone I think that is the very last thing I could ever bring myself to put them through.

Nice.

There's an easy way out of this paradox. You explain to her the above scenario. Make it clear to her that she should die so as not to suffer the worse fate. She becomes angry that you're suggesting she should die. She stops loving you and suggests you die. You kill yourself (or she kills you). You get to die for the one you love, and she gets to live for the one she hates; you both win .

it depends on the situation

Not any more

Life is precious, and if I could give mine to save the one I love I would.

I'd croak for the Skank.

yes, totally. the problem with about 97% of the worlds population is that they spend too much time thinking about stuff even when there doing something else, pondering, worrying, regretting what if's, if only i had that, if only i was like this, if only i had this girl, or that friend, or that car or i miss this or that person, or life's so unfair or whatever. instead of just living in the moment, or if the moment aint so pleasant looking to to what they actually want and knowing they can get it. i'm like happy at nearly every waking moment, very rarely i think about negative shit, maybe once in a week (but i should eliminate that pretty soon ). you need to realise you don't 'need' any particular person

Posted by noikeee on Jan-05-2005 21:38:

In the past I would have said yes. As of now, considering that I haven't loved somebody for a long time and that even my views about life have changed it has dropped to a "possibly".

But this,

How about another spin on the question...

Would you do absolutely anything for the person you love?

And my answer would be yes again.

Endre - I Kill For You springs to mind...

is an absolute "no" for me. No I wouldn't do an ethnic massacre, neither drop nuclear bombs around neither cause gigantic tsunamis just for one girl which might be infinitely special for me but irrelevant for the rest of the entire world.

Posted by x-filer on Jan-05-2005 21:42:

hmm let me think about dying for my family? Wouldnt do it In fact i would sometimes really enjoy killing them myself. So if I wont die for family I wouldnt die for the one I "Love"

Posted by M1cro5lave on Jan-05-2005 21:48:

yes, I would. But doing absolutely anything, no. There are far worse things than death (as someone already mentioned)

Posted by Ian on Jan-06-2005 00:50:

yes

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jan-06-2005 01:01:

Yep. In a heartbeat.

Posted by Michael19 on Jan-06-2005 01:13:

not a fuckn chance.

die for someone you loved?

there isnt one girl/boy(if thats what floats your boat, floorfiller ) so why cut your life short?

you bound to find someone else you love.

also, if you loved her, you dont want to be up in heaven looking down on her riding some other guy.

Posted by EtherealSL on Jan-06-2005 01:47:

well i think teh question is really really vague...

i think to get more accurate resposne, you need to make a situation up

like, "if you were to save your loved one from a potentially fatal car accident, but in the process would require you to sacrifice yourself in his/her place... would you do it?" or somethign liek that

Posted by DjSaline on Jan-06-2005 01:50:

ya. i could care less about myself. i'd die for them

Posted by nec on Jan-06-2005 08:02:

If I would ask you the same question after a year or two, probably the most would say "no". And thats the only smart answer. People just done realize.
