Ok, how about:
Paavo Siljamki (from Above and Beyond)
"I'm pissed off about religion, it's good for people, but at the same time it makes people becoming bad, I mean, all the wars since ever always been because of religion, so that's why I don't like religion, I'm atheist, and I think religion is good for education, but it can also be sh*t for many things, you also need it, but at the same time when you grow up, you need to get rid of it."

Of all people in this thread to claim as arson, you pick Ory? In all honesty, "dj jasonF" has been far more beligerent here.

Give me condescending progheads over profane, irrational trance relativists any day.

If you mean a condescending proghead, no, I definitely am not one. But good job jumping to irrational conclusions.

You used hostile, aggressive language and insults when you easily could have made your points without it. I'm not talking about the content of your argument, I'm talking about the total disregard for igniting a flame war.

thats why i said prob.

i was agressive cuz these type off comments make me mad. maybe it wasnt the best way but ive seen ory in other threads and i think he doesnt deserve any respect.

Posted by Ory on Jan-09-2005 00:49:

I don't really give a shit about how much respect you give me, sweetheart.

Posted by DickieThijssen on Jan-09-2005 01:07:

stop the war! we are in edm together, we have to help each other... This is like giraffes eating giraffemeat instead of leaves... Hmmmm, well never mind stupid comparison

"nearly every thread", that statement made by moondog means that he feels that many threads suffer. His comment includes this one (which obviously has...) but obviously extends beyond.

Likewise since you read these forums you are aware that Ory words his comments in such a manner in many threads to incite trouble.

Likewise the issue isn't one of musical taste even though you wish to frame it within that context... for some reason you are oblivious to the concept of atmosphere... that's what we are discussing.

I do? Perhaps in other threads, not this one. But kudos for conflating my musical opinion elsewhere with my point here.

I'm not claiming that Ory isn't stirring up argument, but that in no way excuses the behavior of "dj jasonF". That's like saying it's okay to beat the crap out of someone for calling you a name. It's a matter of controlling reaction.

Uh, what are you saying, exactly? What is "the concept of atmosphere"?

Posted by DickieThijssen on Jan-09-2005 01:48:

i'm out! no english dictionary at hand

Posted by Ory on Jan-09-2005 02:46:

Concept of atmosphere.

The only reason that I don't dispise progheads on this forum is because they show the nOObs that there's actually 'better' music around. That's the progheads' quest, really... To get more listeners.
And that probably sucks, cause everyone knows that most respected IDM artists are MUCH more inventive in creating music than proghouse producers

Duh. But stuff by, say, Autechre doesn't really entertain me... well, some of it does.

We'll get to that if you explore the entire genre!

Tod Dockstader, now that guy made some cool IDM in the 60's(or late 50's). Here's a direct mp3 download of him giving a 22 minute interview in 1963, talking about music and messing with oscillators. Interesting stuff. Here's the site that the link to the mp3 is on. It contains more info on Dockstader.

Man, those guys were like the avant-garde of EDM in that time, so fuck prog! It's actually the rising of industrial, not IDM. It's the age that people were exploring with all those new possibilities. Much Later, when Jungle got mixed up in these sounds and ways to make music, it evolved into IDM Then on the other hand, you got Drill 'n Bass (Actually much faster and more fucked up IDM)
Man! There are some awesome sounds in that interview!

ohhhhh god I cant thank you enough for that.

Not only was it interesting, but theres a few samples in there that are just begging to be sprinkled into a set.

Posted by Ory on Jan-09-2005 04:12:

Listening to it right now. Yeah, vocal samples from that interview would fit nicely into a track.

Tension... and release

That almost made me laugh.

Oh and LOL @ this thread. Childish debates continue:
"Wahhhh...my music is better than your music...wahhhh!!!"

I don't think so friend. Two words: Carl Craig

Two more words: Derrick May

Kenny Larkin
Mad Mike
Stacey Pullen

etc..

How come all most new listeners start out with listening to trance? Well... I could go on, but I'll just advise you to stop being so stuck on trance ('cus it sure seems like you are), it's not everything. The more experienced you are with something, the better you can judge its quality.
