I had a great time! I took my cousin with me which was her first trance experience and she enjoyed it too. Ashish Shah played some good choons. I was really diggin the darker tech-house stuff. Johnny Chaos sucks IMO, I just wasn't feeling it. Edgar V was just...alright. He played some good stuff towards the end though. PvD was amazing as always! Definitely made up for me missing him at Vision the last time he was in town.

And what totally made my day...

Yep.

Sweet! Vids from his last show at the Riv. Man was it hot in there.

Pure only took pics from what I could see. I should be in a bunch of them since I was at the rail this time.

Posted by Omega_Blue on Apr-18-2005 02:06:

oh shit, they were from the last one huh. it looked about the same since in the vids the place was PACKED just like last night. i personally thought johnny chaos was pretty good, he got the place going.. lots of effects and tricks. ashish shah was lackluster at best. hey teznic whereabouts were you at the rail, i was like right in front about a row or two back. got my ticket signed no one heard about the set being broadcast on the radio though huh???

Awesome concert. Wasn't really digging the edgy stuff early on. Neither was most of the crowd since at one point I saw the dance floor pretty must halt to a complete stop. Everyone was kind of doing one of these while Johnny played with the mixer and didn't bother to keep a steady beat for about 2-3 mintues straight.

Paul pretty much blew the roof off the place with his set. I'm glad I got down on the floor early and stayed all night cause by the end of the night I was pretty much right in front of him. I was close enough to the speakers on the right side of the stage that my right ear is still ringing right now. After he finished he came right over to where I was standing and started signing autographs for people. I'm glad I was there and able to get my stuff signed and get out quick cause everyone started rushing to where we were at. Having as much fun as we did made all the bs we dealt with(car sprung a coolant leak on the highway an hour away from Chicago, couldn't find any parking, jackass wouldn't let me in with my camera and threw my sharpie away) to get there worth it.

I'm glad I wore my PVD t-shirt and my girlfriend wore the Vandit t-shirt cause I saw about 10 other people wearing the Vandit one.

I think Ashish did a nice job getting people warmed up. It wasn't too much but just right.

Johnny cracked me up. He spun some wild stuff, but when he started doing all those effects while making crazy faces it reminded me of an SNL skit with Will Ferrell.

Omega, I was towards the right with only one person in front of me at the rail for most of the night. Then they left because it got too loud and I moved up to the rail and just kept my finger in my right ear (still hurts to this day ) until the end of Paul's set. We were in the right spot to get stuff signed because it seemed a majority of people near us all had items they wanted autographed, so as soon as Paul unplugged his headphones we started waving it yelling "PAUL!" and he came right up to us. It was badass.

You guys might have seen me. Tall, black t-shirt with cargo shorts, and black spikey hair.

Love is in the air

i never wanted the concert to end, it was so awsome, my first time at a trance concert, everybody had a smile on their face when pvd came and it was like seeing god for me, and those pics from the projectors were awsome, i love pvd

at the end I kept yelling "ONE MORE PAUL!!!" like a jackass. Then he cut off the announcer and threw up nothing but you. ah, it was a good time.

Ya that was great! Oops...

Hmm the bathrooms flodded, beer was $5 for a small cup, security wouldn't let me onto the main dance floor and I got into a small tiff with them in which I ended up flicking off some big guy off in the face while my friend dragged me onto the second tier

it was nice hearing "say hello" from ashish..

yup the bathrooms flooded. it was disgusting. i pissed in it anyways. I brought a couple buddies there, one of them who was seeing an electronic event (whilst rolling) for the first time.. i kept asking him "so whaddaya think??" and he had this huge grin on his face, dancing his ass off the whole time. later he described the buildups/breakdowns as a "musical orgasm." man I love these events.

teznic i might've even talked to you a little bit, there was a bunch of spikey haired people around.

anyone else notice that they took off the tops to everyone's water bottles? and they made me throw mine away when i was LEAVING... which don't make any sense to me. meh.

let's see the correct tracklist and some pics people!!

I think I was standing right by you all night long. I was the tall guy with the black PVD t-shirt on. I think you were standing right in front of me for most of the night, but eventually a couple people left and we were both able to get right up to the front.

It was kind of cool how he came right over to us. I was like the second or third person to get something signed, so I was glad I stayed right there all night.

what i wish i heard

there was a song i wanted to hear but i didn't. i know that going to shows isn't about hearing what u want to but goddamnit this show (the blue moon dance) was on the day he was originally slated to go in chicago! anyway, the song is:

Tilt - New Days (Devant Dirty Mix)

The rest of his set was fantastic. I really dig the new for an angel and the harder parts of his set. Paul thank you so much !! The riv staff was not my favorite part of the night, but I feel like the sound wasn't something I can complain about bc I was mostly upstairs. Thanks to pure & pvd for a dream come true!!!!
