yes very true, for last time you can not say who the hell is the best dj. it is a matter of personal opinion and how u connect with the dj and the music they r communicating. there is no such thing as the best dj. look i know what u r trying to say but just belive me.

TIESTO IS ONLY RATED ON HOW POPULAR HE IS WITH PEOPLE, THIS IS DONE THROUGH DJ MAGAZINE EVERY YEAR AND PEOPLE VOTE.(I THINK YOU MIGHT KNOW THIS ALREADY)

What's trance??
Its techno & house & progressive & "Trance" and perhaps even rock or other (listen to The Doors or such). Trance is a feeling, emotion, different to everyone's mind.

And: Often what is called trance around here normally I would definitely not call trance. Just "melody" doesn't mean it's trance, often melody means its NO trance.

You can call what Sven V�th plays "Techno", some call it "Schranz", I would call it trance (to my ear). Is Alter Ego "Rocker" "techno" or "house" or "trance" or "progressive"??

But the silliest thing I ever heard is to say "Psytrance" is no "Trance". Who says that hasn't understood anything about what this kind of music ("Trance") is about.
These people should admit that they are POP-listeners and check chart-entrys every week.

Best you can say about this is what PvD says: Its ELECTRONIC MUSIC.

best in my opinion is someone like Dave Clarke, the nature of trance means it isnt very technical so its hard to seperate djs technically.

Yeah but you could say that about all DJs. I don't think there's one DJ out there who plays exclusively one genre. Eventually, everyone plays tracks from different genres. Yet, DJs are categorized by what they play the MOST.

I agree when you say that each person has a favorite DJ and i do think that the voting for the best DJ in the world is most likely based on that, but its not only that..there are good and bad DJs out there..we have to give credit to the way they perform, mix, produce their music even that is not the music you like. I think that�s more then only a personal taste. Maybe the voting does not shows correctness on their abilities. In my case I do think Tiesto is the #1 DJ. That�s my personal opinion...but I think he has all the other skills to be there 3 consecutive years.

and i'd call most of what joof plays full on.. i don't know much about psytrance, but i thought it kinda subdivided on sub-sub-genres: goa, full-on and prog-psy. if he plays full-on -> he plays psy -> he plays trance

i never said trance and psytrance are the same thing. i said psytrance is still TRANCE but some people here seem to believe that just because its called PSYtrance its not trance.

actually plenty of psytrance and other forms of trance go hand in hand...just listen to some J00f sets, among other sets where the dj blends psytrance or goa with uplifting or energetic trance..some older sets i've heard there's also a pleasant mixture of psy or goa with trance and techno..sounds fuckin great and diverse imo.
