This sounds fun.

If Im in the 48, and if Im not in the middle of a storm chase, then count me in. My chase is planned for May 13-23, FYI in case anyone really has a problem with me not being there.

Posted by jam.iii on Feb-21-2005 05:39:

hehe those last posts cracked me up.

thanks to the perdue folk for jumpin in to put forth some ideas and effort. from the looks of it, we already have enough DJ's to make it a day and night event. even if we start in the afternoon i'm pretty sure it could go well past 11pm... outdoor would be ideal because we could fit more people, but whats the weather like there in april? if its cold and rainy like it is here, the outdoor thing might not work too well. i think an after event would definitely be necessary, even if the person wanted to charge a small admission for beer, because thats how it usually works. i know i'm not too helpful at this point but i'm just trying to cover angles!

finally, i know it sucks to be me and this isn't really important to the event as a whole, but the first and second weeks of april i won't be around i will still do anything i can to help make this happen though!

Here's a suggestion. I don't know if anyone has brought it up yet or considered it before, but why don't you guys rent one of those massive outdoor tents from Grand Rental? And, just find a fair ground or park?

Let me know if you'll be playing Not Even Winds, I got that to perfectly transition from Wave Force. Ozgur is amazing!!! I do like the 5 out of the 6 songs in your list that I've heard (haven't heard Jason Randolph) I'll check out your mix tomorrow. Cheers!

i have a feeling you l33t djs will laugh at my record collection.

Wolvie-

I'm totally adaptable, so no worries what so ever on the playlist, I'm sure it's something we can work out as things get closer and set times get figured out...

Did you see the setlist from my show last night? You may want to hold off on downloading the set I have available until I get the next one up, it's an hour and it's probably got even more records you throw!

Cheers, and see you at G&D on Saturday,

RJT

Haha, I barely remember typing that after I got home from the bar! I'm not sure why I was so concerned about setlists already, but glad I could still spell most everything correctly! Cool, I'll look out for when you upload your new mix.

Mine is rapidly growing, but probably isn't much better

Alright here's what our options are right now. There's a place that we can rent out that has a bar and its 18 to enter 21 to drink. The problem....its $500 to rent. Obviously $500 doesn't just appear out of nowhere. Our other option was the one that we started with. have it outside on the Memorial Mall on campus. Any thoughts?

Posted by tylerc on Feb-22-2005 19:56:

if we rent the place will that give us a venue all night?

i'd love to do it outdoors, but after rjt's story from his party, who knows how it will be accepted.....

If we're going to do this, 500$ can appear quite easily, I'll worry about cash if you worry about promotion...

Also I'll need more details as to when I have to get cash to where etc. in order to rent, and we'd also have to set a date.

Cheers,

RJT

I'm going to call the place tomorrow and start hammering out some details (price, date options, times, etc). I will update when I know more.

Called the place and got some details.

We can have the venue all day
4104 sq ft (about 40x100)
A separate bar can be run for those 21+ and it can still be an 18+ event.

i'm down and i could convince a few other ta's to come as well

That sounds pretty good. I think the mall would be fine, provided the weather is good and a house party would continue the event after 11, but I think considering the bar would allow us to be there all day with 18+ admission and 21+ drinking, that seems like the best bet. At worst it would be $5 each for 100 people to cover the cost and even less than that if more people are expected. RJT, thanks for offering to put up money, I could chip in some in the case that there would be a loss, though it looks like 100 people would be no problem. Also, Phreek, thanks for all the planning you've been doing.

This event would be indoors with the option I talked about above. This makes for better lighting, and bass .

How does April 9th sound? I think a saturday would really be best for this event.

Also, anyone interested in DJing please send me a pm with at least your DJ name so I can kind of get an idea of who all is wanting to spin.

Posted by RJT on Feb-23-2005 00:10:

April 9th sounds OK, but that will come up quicker than a lot of people think... I would suggest waiting a week or two, but I'm definitely up for whatever works for most people...

As far as a cover goes, I think 5 bucks is pretty fair for a cover... And 100 people definitely sounds feasible at this point.

One question, what time do we have to wrap things up? Because boy let me tell you I could spin all day for something like this!

Doing my best to pull things together with the Phreekster and Co.

Cheers,

RJT

The guy said that we can run until 2am if we want. I can't do April 16th since thats PVD at the riv. Either the 9th or the 23rd would be best. Going into May we would have to worry about finals and I don't really want to screw with that.

Posted by RJT on Feb-23-2005 00:17:

April 23rd gets a thumbs up from me... but dude, I can do the 9th if it works for more folks... And Ferry is in MN on the 20th so that could get expensive/tiring...

9th or 26th, what do kids think?

Posted by RJT on Feb-23-2005 00:33:

Oh, and as far as I'm concerned, KT you and your records are more than welcome to join us...

Midwest TA's gotta hold it down together, you know?

Cheers,

RJT
