Anyway, I wanted to share some research with y'all. I found the Prelude's Torque:Weight ratio to be much better than the Civic's and thus the lower 0-60 time, and HP:Weight ratio is slightly better. I also included a few other of the cars we've been discussing.

One anomoly is the better HP:Weight ratio for the Celica GT-S (vs. Prelude) yet the manufacturer's 0-60 time is slower than the Prelude's. Wasn't sure if that was a mistake; the Lude is about 450 lbs. heavier!!

I think the Celica's slower 0-60 is because of it's lower torque/weight ratio. For quick acceleration, and in this case to only 60mph, the lower torque rating will hurt it more.

Hi guys, I'm new to trance addict but not new to cars. My profile pic is one of my at Mosport in street/track car. I'm part of few different car clubs and also go on some open lapping days. I've done quite a bit to my car but anyone who knows its not about what you got its about how you drive it. I've got lots of pics but have no idea how to attach one. Everytime I do it asks for a web address. Can't we upload a pic?

Posted by MarkT on Apr-04-2005 17:22:

welcome!

unfortunately you have to have a URL to link...can't upload directly to TA. Just use any free online image hosting service.

I hear ya on the "how you drive it" part

A guy on a car forum always replies to noobs with the same answer when they say "what should I do first with my car"...he says "driving lessons" (i.e. through a racing school)

can't quite tell from your avatar...what are you driving (and what have you done to it?)

That appears to be a 996 911 of some sort.

Posted by B_Rock_77 on Apr-04-2005 20:38:

You guessed right. I have an 01 porsche 996. Well I guess everyone wants to know the mods...

- porsche factory roll bar
- Euro Spec fix bucket GT3 seats
- Bilstien PSS9 coil overs
- GT3 front and rear full adjustable sway bars
- Unichip piggy back ecu
- Fabspeed Intake mod with K&N
- Removed mufflers and from cat straight out. (a screamer)
- Installed fire extinguisher
- 5 point harness for both driver and passenger
- Smoked clear side markers
- 18" 5 spoke Porsche OEM rims from a 2002+
- ADVAN A048 Yokohams's... soon to be changed to the new Yoko's. These tires are really an R compound tire with 2 grooves to make it legit to drive from home to track.

Soon to come, sport clutch kit with lightened flywheel. 28lbs-12lbs
Pagid Orange pads to go on soon.

I think that's pretty much it but I might have forgotten something. Oh and enough track time to spank our boys in blue.

Here is pic of me at the track before some of my mods. I also have heavy tints on the car all around 15%. This is an older photo but you get the idea. I have lots of photo's from the track. I will take some photo's of inside the car so you guys can see the madness. Who knows maybe instead of thread maybe we can do car meet one day.

Its not a comfortable car to cruise in anymore but when you put your foot down and know how to make the car perform its simply awesome. You just don't want to stop. Its addictive...

Ever wondered what might result if Honda gave its S2000 the Type-R treatment it reserves for the go-fast versions of its cars in Europe and Japan? Well, you could be about to find out.

The Japanese marque has just confirmed that among the cars on its New York motor show stand in April will be a hotter version of its eight-year-old roadster; it'll be called the S2000 CR and, says Honda, will take the car's performance "to an entirely new level."

Official information on the more hardcore S2000 will be scarce until its unveiling on April 4. All Honda has said about it so far is that it's "club racer-inspired," "aggressively tuned," and has been "engineered around the expectations and needs of Honda performance enthusiasts."

So how is Honda going to achieve the necessary added aggression? Given its preference of high-revving atmospheric engines over forced-induction ones, a turbocharger probably isn't on the cards. It's more likely that the company will apply its latest VTEC valve timing technology to the car's standard 237hp 2.0-liter motor, which, allied to upgraded induction and exhaust systems, should boost headline power up beyond 260hp.

Added to that will be power-to-weight ratio gains achieved through weight saving. Aluminum body panels, aluminum updates to the car's X-Bone body structure, the removal of the car's air conditioning and part of its audio system, and the substitution of leather seats for lighter, manually-adjusted buckets, could save as much as 222lb from the 2800lb curbweight.

All that means that, while the standard S2000 has a power-to-weight ratio of 188hp per ton, this more track-focused one could have as much as 225hp per ton. Special circuit-biased tires, lighter alloy wheels and a stiffer chassis are also racing certainties.

The new S2000 CR is going on sale in the U.S. this autumn.

here's my e30.
ground control and koni adjustables for the suspension
audio is just a magnaflow exhaust (plan on putting bigger injectors and a chip this summer)
interior needs to be redone
exterior - i got a splitter being installed this summer on to the stock lip, wheels are getting powder coated black and maybe a red pin stripe also hid's to come and i already got smoked tails and some slight body work is needed for the rocker panels and i should be done.
here are pictures from last summer.

How do you like the E30? Is it reliable? Parts expensive? I was thinking of getting an E30 325is or E34 525i

parts aren't expensive as i thought. go to maxbimmer.com theres a good thread for buying an e30. i haven't had any thing bad happen. example on parts, i got all 4 pads and rotors shipped for $375. motor on my car is strong still and i keep up with the maintence.
its a very fun car to drive and feels solid. i've driven other cars and it just doesn't feel the same to drive as my car even if its 18 years old.

Posted by PurpleHaze on Mar-21-2007 04:32:

nice didn't know we had some car junkies in here too

with the whole n/a vs f/i debate its really just opinion vs opinion on which one is better blah blah

personally i'm a fan of both after driving a really quick n/a and a really quick f/i car - they're 2 totally different cars yet run the same at the track

the power delivery is like night and day...n/a its constant pulling u back furthur into your seat...f/i is just like "boom" fullboost and u get slammed into the seat

i just prefer the big bang after a nice spoolup

tuning is tough, i have a piggyback ecu on the wrx and doing it yourself takes a lot of patience and small increments/decrements in order to get the right number, be it idc's, timing, wgdc's....

but the payoff is wellllll worth it in the end when you have good supporting mods
