And it doesn't go to infinity. It was calculated in 1995 to exactly 6,442,450,938 digits.

However, further research has yielded much greater precision.

Because it insultes, meaning it slows the reaching of temperature equilibrium, therefore, when something is hot, it stays hot, when something is cold, it stays cold.

Maybe I missed the question, why do people insist on saying this, like it's surprising or some old wise saying and holds true all the time. Could you possibly point out anything more obvious by saying that? I'd be worried if that were not true and people kept looking.

Pi is an irrational number, which means that it has an infinite number of digits that do not repeat or terminate. In fact, you can calculate pi for yourself using the following infinite summation:

pi = 4 - 4/3 + 4/5 - 4/7 + 4/9 - 4/11 + 4/13 - 4/15 + ...
