I don't even understand why the fuck you guys even post here. Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but if you don't have anything positive to say, then STFU and get out of the thread. This is obviously a pro hip-hop thread so stop trying to strike an unnecessary argument and leave it alone. We understand that you're anti hip-hop..so you made your point and you have nothing else valid to say. You guys are correct when you say that this is a trance board. However, I see no admin objecting to this thread so it obviously is a valid conversation. Rap is a form of poetry put over a melody, making it music. It matters not what they rap about, but it still is music. If you take no time to go deep into the roots of this genre, then we can only take pity on you. But please don't be a stereotypical prick by bashing on others who have a different taste than you.

And pop is more of a concept than a defined genre of music, much in the same sense that Christian music is. Pop music can sound like anything, really. Mainstream trends during the past forty years have proven this well.

As for the intellect of hip-hop, there has been no such criteria given to determine whether or not one genre is more intellectual than another, most attempts to insinuate otherwise have been without credible argument. Saying that trance is more intellectually superior than another is pretty damn dumb as it is already; I mean, seriously, take that plug out of your ass and stop the pseudo-intellectual elitism. As a matter of fact, I'd be willing to place a heavy wager that hip-hop in general is far more intellectual than the crap being spewed forth as trance simply due to what seems to be that hip-hop artists (yes, this includes that top ten pop-hop stuff) are more technically proficient than your average trance producer and the fact that the genre tends to spawn a far more diverse sound in comparison to the formulaic Euro-anthems we've all been bombarded with over the past ten years.

Oh, and one more thing. Hydarnes, Hissiprissy, this may come as decent mind fuck to you guys - the first trance song (The KLF's 1988 Pure Trance Original Mix of their hit What Time Is Love), believe it or not, contained rap vocals on the main versions of the song.

*sigh* I have neither the time nor the energy at this point to flog an already mutilated horse. It goes without saying that this debate was concluded long ago (partially characterized by your conspicious absence from addressing any of the relevant and critical arguments that were to follow). If you really think that reiterating your antiquated (and previously refuted, I might add) arguments are going to afford you anything more than a pretentious pat on the back to those that piteously share your bias, you are free to believe whatever delusion you like, but don't expect me to fall for this foolishness twice.

The point is that this is a Trance board. This isn't a place to talk about any unrelated musical genre that we might like. If people want to talk about Hip-hop, go to a different board because this surely ain't the place. If they wish to go ahead and audaciously clutter the forum with such content anyway, flames should be expected, and rightly so.

i've found that while i don't agree with many of his lyrics (but i do some) Eminem has some of the best music i've heard

Your point is well understood. However, it's not your place to take on the role of TA police, enforcer of the Music Discussion forum. So, why must you flame, instead of condemning us in your mind? It's a lot less combative. And also in many minds, including myself, rap is a type of electronic music (don't try and change my mind, it's a waste of words). Therefore I consider the thread valid, whether it be trance or not, especially since the description says "Trance or any electronic music." Once again, we are all entitled to our opinion. It's a he said/she said battle, and no one will win. So lets just leave it alone and stop flaming people because of there opinion.

Iam,

Well, you're from America, the land of plenty rap. It's actually kind of sad that Rap has to be equated with music, because it's really just rapid-rhymed talking with some background music.

Yes sir! I guess I just enjoy bashing rap. I actually wasn't going to say anything until I saw some outrageous comments made by rap-supporters. On a more logical level, however, I do maintain my position which does not include rap as a bonafide form of EDM music--and it therefore doesn't qualify to be freely discussed on this board.

saul williams has some amazing songs falling well within the boundaries of both hip hop and edm...

ps...i like how the main objectors to the hip hop thread have never posted anything relating to 'trance' anywhere else...

plus i like how one of them hasnt the grasp of english to properly flame us, so he relies on the others response, both of which likely arent from N America|

There was just far too much crap to go through to find a decent argument by the time the thread got to page twenty-five or so, so I just quit reading it. If I missed any strong points to come after my argumentative retirement from that debate, then I ask now that you bring forth whatever previous arguments you thought strong enough to refute the points brought up by your opposition.

In any case, we're both going around in circles in each other's eyes, and both are under the delusion of our own views. I've given many different examples as to why hip-hop should be included as a form of electronic music, with my main point relying upon the fact that the vast majority of it is sequenced. Unless I've missed something critical, I don't ever recall you giving an arguable reason as to why it should be excluded, aside from a musical dissimilarity.

I would just like to comment that not all people from WI are ignorant, over-opinionated assholes like Hydarnes...

I am ashamed to say I live in the same state as you. WI is a Hip-Hop and House dominated state when it comes to electronic music so if you're so set on bashing it, you might as well move. You know as well as i do that 99% of the 5.5 million people that live her have no idea what trance is let alone EDM so you're both unmatched here on TA and where ever you go.

I wont say you're wrong in saying that Hip-hop isnt EDM but i wont say you're right. it's all a matter of opinion and since the loops and riffs made for hip-hop are made electronically and its classified as a type of breakbeat, i consider it EDM. You can argue your point all you want but you arent going to change the opinions of the people here and since we clearly consider it a sub-genre of EDM, it is allowed to be discussed in the MD.

You all continue to say this is a trance board but if that doesnt matter. It may be called trance addict.com but a lot more that trance is discussed here. If you're so set on cleaning this place up into a trance only board, i can see a large portion of the members not even bothering to post simply because so many people listen to many other kidns of music. if we cant post about hip-hop because its a trance board, we might as well not post about breaks or techno or ambient or house.

Whatever... you've all made the fact that you dislike hip-hop perfectly clear so stop wasting your time trying to turn your opinions into fact because all of us here have our own opinions aswell. I agree with a slight dislike of hip-hop but this thread is about intelligent hip-hop. hip-hop with a meaning and a purpose, not the trash hip-pop you hear on mainstream radio. i dont find enjoyment listening to that because its all about the same 5 subject: cars, money, ice, bitches, drugs..

whatever, im getting ahead of myself. Hydarnes, fissipissi... stop wasting your time and stop wasting ours.

*sigh*

ok

litlebit of sample what Busdrivers lyrics are like

I am a bus driver and it's four in the morning
And I'm pressing out my clothes beside my bed
Fourteen years been on the job
And with many miles behind
Still I'm up at 3:30 to make sure I'm there on time
My car gets me along just fine
To and from the station
But my castle is this Houston Metro bus
My first stop is Ashbury
The sign's been gone for years
All the same the people wait
'Cause they know that I'll be there
(Chorus)
What would you say
If I told you that I won't be by to day
Would you say that
I'm just a bus driver
And what do I know
Just a bus driver
And what do I know
Just a bus driver
And what do I know
I'm always there by 5:15
And lately I've been early
Judith likes to be in early to the bank
And she gives me conversation
And a token good for riding
And she's happy all alone
And then there's Charles in retail sales
And I hope they pay him well
For all the work that young man does
'Cause I've never seen the inside of a custom refrigerator
But I know that he's the first and last one there
(repeat chorus)
And I wonder how this world would be
If I was never here
To drive this bus around from Ashbury to Main
I suppose this town would be the same
With one bus less exhaust
But that bank and retail store
They just wouldn't be the same
But what can I see
From the limited confines of my bus driving seat
Only me
And I'm just a bus driver
And what do I know
I'm just a bus driver
And what do I know
Just a bus driver
And what do I know
Just a bus driver
So don't believe that
Just a bus driver
Well don't believe that
Just a bus driver
Well don't believe that
We're all just bus drivers
And it's time to go home

and

Im just here to hold your hand when you die
and to show you around imaginary places
puttin many lumps on my bloody stump
edible habits so I bit the perfect circle
die in your sleep with the sky at your feet
ill shoot you when your happy on the day that you will find peace
how did you do it, i dont know, im ok
every person i know is a secret sorta agent
cuz im accused of lewd conducts
So far hard to rape her prom side
any kind of rumor for em, may they rest to put me in a loony bin
a funny farm a coo-coo but they need a villian

Im just here to hold your hand when you die
there is not a sicker person that can do it better
no need to skip it in my ecosystem
but in the audience of me being evil christian
HMO know how I hate him so
but he charged me for a halo
but im on a scavenger hunt for a map with a chunk
of a sky mirror Ill go crazy with a mud pie
I play dead songs on the silk screen
Iron my shirt it is a chill dream
It is on to lead away to the stair well till we gut him in it
straight up from the center finally fair-well

Im just here to hold your hand when you die
and to give your assault rifle a bannana clip
flow in the dark when i stroll in the park
giving everybody informative pamphletes
no sign of life for as far as i can see
everybodys just charred meat up in the car seat
eat shit and die to the secret spy
cuz i have this funny feeling that im being watched
24 hour survailance
money or power or ailments
whyd they send the medical the he shimmered me the hammer

it was way too much you coulda went and had 200

Im just here to hold your hand when you die
Psycho better cause trouble runnin for your soft spot
late market closed, and the irk on her nose
turned into a deadly gas flowin through the air ducts
shes had no love for the thought that she was
she doesnt love me cuz I dont have the right hair cut
Im misunderstood, I just face it, Im no good
but I will not appologize for anything that I say
My name is Mr Busdriver
this is the producer Paris
we did not embarass to admit that we were purchasing a bit
of our own imaginary place

kids.. if you want to piss off your parents
show interest in the arts

kids.. if you really want to piss off your parents
buy real estate in an imaginary place.. oh yes

ok ok, alright, um... yea..
down... low...

- lots of scratching -

gotta do my shout outs now.. (please do)

Im just here to hold your hand when you die
Paris and Daddy care, theyll also be there too

Im just here to hold your hand when you die
Unless you get that mums the word will help you

Im just here to hold your hand when you die
Feel the fellowship announced everyone will help you

Im just here to hold your hand when you die
Shoulda been an empire hip hop clan too

Im just here to hold your hand to die
Im just here to hold your hand when you
Just here to hold your hand..
when you die..
