OMG is the guy on the right named Richard B. If it is whats up bro, It's Nathan from the Surf Club. I havn't seen you in like 5 years. If not, then you look alot like him.
Such a good time hearing TA dj's and bustin it with fine TA dancers. I don't want to put down a list cuz i forgot too many names. Thanx for being awsome everyone. Life is good when we all get together.
Thank you so very much to all of you who were able to make it to the party on Saturday. TAs definitely proved that they have the most heart in the Toronto scene. Sally and Michael wanted the party to be about helping people, wanted it to be a simple reminder of how lucky we all are to have each other and wanted it to be about enjoying the company of good people who are passinate about music, life and friendship. I think you would all agree that their party did just that.
Thank you to all of the DJs who graciously volunteered their time for the event and for delivering the amazing sets that you did. Apologies go out to the guys in the upstairs lounge for the poor set up and sound. With true class and professionalism you all made the best of that less than perfect situation and still delivered wonderful sets. Thank you to all the others who helped out at the event...Margaret, Tara and Aaron... and a big thank you to Emery who helped us with the creation of the CD.
I cannot tell you all how utterly disgusted I was on Saturday when I learned that some person had made the pathetic decision to steal money from a charity. Sally and Michael worked so very hard to put together this event for a cause that would have helped so many families who are in desperate need of a home, food and rebuilding their lives. The fact that some ignorant person decided with one appauling act that their cause was more important than this is beyond my comprehension. Shame on you. As some others have stated above, Karma has its way of showing its face in this world, especially on those who have opted to lead a selfish life, so I can only hope it finds the person who did this. Sally and Michael, you may not be able to hand over the money you had hoped for to Habitat but some horrible things in life are beyond our control. What you should focus on in this case is that you did something great. Please remember that your generousity and kind hearts are an inspiration to the rest of us and your reminder of how lucky we all are is a gift in itself that we thank you for.
I also wanted to let you know that Pattrin, my adopted sister who lives in Phuket, will be sharing the CD with her friends and family in Thailand and she asked me to personally thank everyone involved and everyone who attended the party for their generousity. So, THANK YOU!

Thank You, Heidi, for sharing these heart-felt and warm thoughts! These are the kinds of words and the kind of attitude we should all remember when in an unfortunate situation. ... and this is exactly what I have been going through over the last 8 months ... a draught, a windfall, i even call it the 'quicksand' that i've been in, has ultimately led me to an astonishing relevelation - to stop looking 'at the ground' in tunnelvision, to stop being a victim to my own circumstances and to just start embracing life again, even though I'm broke as hell, as a refugee lawyer stranded, heart-torn and displaced what seems like a refugee myself, overqualified and unemployed. well what can i say? haha! always take life with a grain of salt; u never know what cards u'll be dealt! but you guys proved it again to me on saturday nite, - fuck it all & let's just have a good time!
i wanted to thank all of you, by just being YOU, to share what life is really about - so that i could to get my head out of the sand to start LIVING & being alive again!
dallas, sweety, ~ u deserve it!
tatgirl ~ i hope all goes well in july! fingers crossed, girl! u can do it!
~s*princess ~ our TA Godmother! the secret for silk-e hair is ****
cuzo ~ thanks for recognizing for how long we've not partied together and measuring it at the length of my hair!!! LOL!!!!
thanks to S & M for all of their hard work for putting this on! Margie & Ray, Tara & Matt, Jenna & Mike, Heidi & Aaron, Jeff, MaxQ, RJ, Liam, Christina, Cono-Sur, Endlesswave, Durafei, Highroller, Richart T., Eso, Carlos, Diginut ~ really great seeing you all again! as well as Erica and John, in our thoughts. memories of how it all started ... and how good the good old times were!
last but not least of the outstanding encounters of the nite: LOCA! you brought it all back into perspective!
and of course a special THANK YOU &
to my love and rockstar, Richard Raiban, for putting on another brilliant set, even though for only a short part of the nite, by creating an undeniably unforgettable & magical atmosphere, as always!
THANKS to you all!!! What a great nite!
and as for the money - what goes around, comes around. i would not worry, this person will sooner or later, or one way or another, have to pay for what s/he has done. count your losses, lick your wounds, and move on. what counts is the greater message of this event and that's what all this was about.

What an amazing night! Finally got to party with the TA's, what an experience. Man do you'll know how to throw it down. What a shame about the charity getting rippped of though, but what goes around comes around and I hope it comes around twice for whom every was/is involved in that. But the night was just amazing and the music was insane. I can't wait to party with the TA's again.
Sally & Michael - can you update us as what exactly happened that night?
It would be nice to hear from the organizers (remember the telephone game in preschool?)
my review to come
Board Wars inception was a means of uniting our electronic music community for an evening of rhythmic exaltation and an opportunity to assist a small portion of the millions stranded in South Asia. For weeks the three of us have worked tirelessly to materialize this wonderful concept and on Saturday we finally came to enjoy this feat; I have emphasized this because as M and I scrolled through all the wonderful posts of support it became clear that our third partner in crime hadnt been mentioned alongside our names.
Heidi, aka Angelgirl has played an integral role in this event soon after Michael and I came up with the board wars concept. In fact, she came up with the versus theme. M and I feel an obligation to iterate the many hours of devotion she has put into this event. She was also in charge of coordinating the compilation CD! So please pay as many compliments to Heidi.
Wed also like to thank Aaron, for mastering the CD and playing technician to all the DJs Saturday. Your patience and kindness will not be forgotten.
Saturday brought us much joy, and much sadness. As many of you know, money was taken from our cash box. The box was closed, but not locked. We naively never fathomed that anyone present at this momentous occasion would steal from fellow friends. That is correct; there wasnt a single patron not associated with an individual at the event.
It pained us greatly, to think that someone would have the audacity to steal from all of their friends, and worst of all, to steal from those ravaged of their possessions, livelihood, and families.
The money was taken between 15 minutes of me leaving Michael for a break. When I had returned and relieved Michael, I opened the cash box to count the money, and as soon as I saw what was there I didnt even have to count it. The height of the bills was so low my heart sank immediately. I looked under the tray and nothing was there. I restrained myself from panic until Michael returned because he couldve simply stowed in a safe place.
It is a sad lesson to realise that one cannot trust a single soul. We were gullible not to hide the box each time our eyes were averted to perform coat check. That is the reason you did not see us the remainder of the night.
We are forever endeared for all of your support; to the DJs both upstairs and downstairs who sustained laughter and exhilaration throughout the night and despite technical difficulties. Thank you for handling yourselves so amicably. To all of our friends, and friends of friends who came out for an amazing cause, and to support these masters of sound.
Michael and I may have trouble reconciling ourselves to the theft, but weve resolved to put this aside and move forward to assist those in need. We may not have raised as much as wed hoped on Saturday, but it doesnt mean we cant still try.
This is exactly what our money is going towards:
REBUILDING
Q: Approximately how much will the Habitat houses cost to build?
A: We estimate it will cost us approximately US $1000 per house or US $200 to get each family member out of a displacement camp and into permanent shelter. This estimate includes costs of materials, transport and building centers designated to provide more families, NGO partners and others with expertise to build homes in order to reach and possibly exceed 25,000 families.
Please click here for more Q & A from Habitat for Humanity
Michael and I are pledging an additional $350 towards the tsunami relief fund. Voodoochild is pledging $50.
Liam, amongst many others, has suggested a Pay Pal procedure. Tomorrow Michael and I will set this procedure up and make the information available to you. While were reluctant to ask people to dig into their pockets yet again, we do so because this is such an important cause any donations are appreciated no matter how small. The donation will be anonymous.
Once again, we thank all of you for your tremendous support. Many of you dont know how much of a sap I am. You guys brought me tears of happiness!
I hope that clears some stuff up!
Sally
Ps: we have some copies left of the Board Wars compilation CD of original productions. The CD is $5.00. Please PM me if youre interested.

Yea, when Margs told me about the money later on in the evening, i was shocked beyond belief.
That is complete balls, and i cant believe either that someone had the nerve and audacity to do such a thing... in general, and especially more so given the nature for which the money was being collected.
I cant imagine the person who did this, how they can honestly live with themselves!

Wow... I can't believe i missed ANOTHER review thread!
My old tired brain isn't working very well lately...
I had a great time, even though I had to vacate a little early... I had a LATE night the night before, and I was beginning to wane...
I had a great time while I WAS there, however! Big thanks to Michael, Sally and Heidi for your tireless efforts putting this together for us! We don't deserve you!
I was shocked and ashamed when Brynne came home and told me that someone had taken money from the cause... unacceptable.
We can rise above this folks. Let's put a little in and make the night an even BIGGER success than it was.
Keep us posted with details Sally!
WOW.... It's hard enough for me to keep up with everyones first name as well as their TA name and now you are adding in other nicknames????? Yeah I totally know who Andrea is (/ chanoa /spitty{ for reasons unknown to me}).
