Well like I said, she inspires me, but not everyone. I wouldn't call it "gangsta" since they play "Rich Girl" and "Hollaback Girl" on top 40 stations. In this case I would say that she branched out and tried hiphop or something different in her case as an artist.

well...lets just say i'd be very surprised if she was the one that wrote those songs...

Posted by Slylee on May-17-2005 18:54:

"Holla Back" was a smart move for her. that song is about nothing more than money and marketing. remember Destiny's Child "Can you keep up" and how it had that high school band sound to it? look at how many football games are playing that song now still and think of all the royalties.

i think maybe gwen to trying for something similar. it's the type of song that every cheerleading squad is going to be dancing to now. i'm sure she wouldn't pick that song if she had to pick one song to define her style. it seems like that song was a more fun song that was guaranteed to be a hit and guaranteed to make her a shitload of money.

Shame / Disagreement

this thread is for the boyz to love gwen

and somehow the girliez have transformed this into the i-wanna-fuk-gavin thread

she's a more talented writer than that bullshit lol

i respected her in her earlier no doubt days.

but all this poppy shit is just downright CRAP!

sorry jordan

see this is what i'm saying. these last few songs of hers were made because she is on her own now...she has to stay afloat somehow...and she's doing it quite well by making a lot of crap that will sell...

Posted by Slylee on May-17-2005 18:57:

"What you waiting for" isn't crap.

then again, "crap" is in the eye of the beholder.

I heard her talkin about her album a few times. She said she wanted every song on there to be like a single or something. Just fun stuff. Nothing too serious. Something that not all like, but will have stuck in their heads. Haha..think she succeeded.

I totally like it. I find some of it cheesy, but its fun to dance around to, so I listen, plus..I love her.

i like her original better than jacques remix any day. sure that remix is pretty good and they played it at mynt and i was dancing, but i was very disappointed when i heard that remix. when i first heard that song i thought, "oh man, there's gonna be so many sick remixes of this song out" and then someone was like, "yea there's already the jacques lu cont mix" and i got so happy and then when i heard it, i was like, "ehh..i like her version better"

Posted by bass drive on May-17-2005 19:03:

her body looks like a skinny guy's body (serious)

so I say

i just said that i liked that song...i mean holla back girl, rich girl, and bananas or whatever...that stuff is crap...

I thought this was a thread on her physical appearance... not on her musical making abilities...

ohhhhh well, it is the CORe, and you're having a semi-intelligent discussion/debate.

I agree with both comments.

She did contribute to both songs. Dr Dre produced "Rich Girl" and I read in a interview that the whole album is supposed to be a throwback to her high school days, so that may explain the marching band thing.

Javy-no offense taken!! I love your little Puerto Rican ass anyway. And I'm not offended by anyone elses comments either. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Anyway, maybe this thread needs to go back to if shes hot or not!!!

Posted by UWM on May-17-2005 19:07:

The 'album version' (radio play) of What You Waiting For was also produced by Stuart Price

oddly enough, i must admit......... i havent heard her version lol.

same goes for mr. brightside, i havent heard the original

almost all EDM songs of recent that are remixes of original songs...... i havent heard the originals.

i am that out of the loop when it comes to modern music a la NOT edm

oh yea i forgot about that rich girl song. i don't like that one either.

to be honest, i only like her as a performer and i never even got into No Doubt or any of her singles...i was never amazed by her music. i can't think of one song she did that made me like go nuts other than her recent one, "What you waiting for". but i always liked her for her style and videos...that's about it.

i love her clothing line L.A.M.B.
