what makes you think that when Vaidisova just knocked off the number 1 seed in Amelie Mauresmo and Venus Williams??

when a player gets hot, they get hot. At this moment on clay, Vaidisova can win it all.

Thats exactly what I'm thinking...Defeating Venus Williams can be such a moral boost for any player. We might just end up seeing the best of her..

to the Williams sisters now!

They're weak now.

Taking down one of the Belgiums is the new goal one should hope to attain!

FUCK! I missed being able to watch the match! DAMMIT!!!

But no surprise, Justine KILLED Kim. Shes just too great against Clijsters!

6-3, 6-2.

I love that score! I'm alwasy impressed with Henin, esp agaist Clijsters!

But god, do I wish I could have seen that match!

I'm a littel bummed out that crumbled in the 2nd set, and couldnt beat out Kuznetsova... I REALLY wanted to see Vaidisova vs. Henin

I dont think Kuzetsova has anything to offer against Justine, she'll go down in straight sets I predict. I hope I'm not wrong.

Im not coming down to TO till Saturday nigth now because I dont wanna fucking miss the womens finals on Saturday morning!

It's ON AGAIN!

Bc of going away for DEMF in Detroit and then still feeling zonked and bojangled and tired still on Wednesday which had off work, I havent had a chance yet to catch any of the games.

Hopefully gonna make up for that starting Saturday (since all the games air starting at 9am is seems! ARG! Damn work)

Who else has been watching?

I need to catch up on whos made it through , and what upsets have been seen so far.

Caught some quick headlines in todays papers, think I saw that Hewitt, Federer, Nadal, Sharapova are all still in.

Well ladies and gents, its that time again... in fact, its more than 1/2 over now

Im a little late on this one, hehehehe. Discuss.

My personal favourite for womens: Justine Henin-Hardenne, my FAVOURITE womens tennis player. Shes going up against my 2nd favourite player, Maria Sharapova tommorrow in a quater-finals match, so thats gonna be UBER INTENSE! Im taping it, since it comes on at 10am and I'll unfortunately be at work and simply cant be home!

Cant freaking wait!

On the mens side... Federer OF COURSE... (tho I can think of others Id rather have take the title, but Fed is simply UNSTOPABLE! )

~Jem~

HAH i love reading ur tennis comments - FULL of enthusiasm

You know my stance: ROOOOOOOOOOGERRRRRRRRRRRRR

Justine Henin beat Jelena Jankovic 6-2, 6-2 in the other semifinal. The Belgian will become the first woman to win three consecutive titles at Roland Garros since Monica Seles in 1990-92 if she defeats Ivanovic on Saturday.

Jankovic rallied midway through the second set, and Henin had to save a break point before moving ahead 5-2. Jankovic double-faulted to go 15-40 down on her serve and give Henin two match points.

She won at the first attempt when Jankovic's forehand sailed long. Henin clenched her fist and blew a kiss to the crowd.

MY GIRL'S COMPLETELY THROUGH AGAIN!!!!!! Woo HOO!!

And Maria Sharapova just got knocked out too! This is gonna make her win on Sunday even easier!!

I'm fully expecting to see Justine Henin taking this french open cup now 3 times in row

God i love henin.

I don't agree with this. Sharapova got outplayed. She was making too many errors, and had ALOT of forced errors. Ivanovic kept hitting her baseline balls, and Sharapova was just having a hard time with them.

If Sharapova played against Henin how she played today, it would have been 6-0 6-0.

I like how Ivanovic is playing. Nice serve, and very smart play. I am looking forward to the final. It will be a good game, but I know that Henin will 3peat. Her backhand is just too damn crazy...Reminds me of Federer's backhand.

My 2 cents.

Henin's turned into prolly the best women's clay-courter ever (if she wins).
VERY impressive

TODAY's agenda:
Roger at 1330 CET (730 ur time) vs Davidenko...will NOT be easy.
GREAT weekend of tennis coming up

I hear you 100% and agree based on the things you've said. you mistook how i meant my comment though...

just that w/ sharapova out, henin's chances look better anyways. henin just doesnt have as much to fear from jankovic *in general* ... and stats wise.

if sharapova was playing shit like she was but still somehow came thru, id still be more worried with henin facing her than jankovic *generally*

maria often can often pull through, or make it close when forced, and there have been many a matches with her vs. henin when ive been on teh edge of my seat. im just generally not as concerned that i feel jankovic is gonna out henin.

and as u said, maria was playing like shit, so really the win of jankovic's was maybe atleast as much sharapova's fault (for playing poorly) as it was jankovic's fault (for playing well).

now, i didnt watch the match (damn work!! ), so ya, its hard for me really to comment intelligently on henin's chances to win given i havent been able to catch ANY jankovics matches this fort night. and cant say for myself how i think jankovic's game is looking and how well she is playing from first hand exposure.

ya when i turned on teh tv before going into teh shower he in the 2nd set, won the first 6-4 i think it said. and they were 1/2 way thru teh second...

and it was only aroudd 8:05 am, and if hte match started at 730 as vrk said, then fed was just flying through!

i didnt get a chance to watch any of it though, only see a couple games quickly before needing to leave

anyways, excited about fed rafa tomorrow!!

You keep saying Jankovic, but it is Ivanovic that Henin will face in the final

I have watched most of the matches, and noone i mean NOONE comes even close to challenging Henin. She will win in straight sets I think, but will have a bit of a harder time, i dont think it will be another 6-2 6-2 victory.

As far as Federer goes...WOW he was not on his game AT ALL... Good game though.

If he plays like that against Nadal, he does not stand a chance.

Posted by Jem_hadar on Jun-11-2007 03:27:

So fucking Rafa won! Jesus.

The universe was kind to me and allowed that I was able to watch the mens final even though I was in the city... i was kinda worried about this before leaving, till it hit me in the club, that footwork will totally close before 9am and therefore i can just wake up super early to watch the open at bakis

anyways, FAN-fucking-TASTIC match. It was chalk full of insane plays, shots, maneuvers, etc.

Wow. What tennis.

I was highly disappointed to see Fed lose *again* though. I really wanted to see him finally pull through on this day and finally claim this title.

But Nadal was just too good. jesus.

What a match.

Posted by I_Am_Vince on Jun-11-2007 08:55:

amazing match, Nadal just owns clay courts, no matter how good Federer is in every other aspect, clay and Nadal is his Kryptonite. Federer messed up quite a bit too, missing all those drop shots and some of his forehand shots.

He had 1 great drop shot from quite far back in the court, and I think he attempted 2 or 3 others, but netted them all.

and yeah, his forehand really let him down... really thats what helped seal the deal.

if his forehand had remained strong, and think he would have had a great chance at winning this year's french open... but with nadal, u cant afford to give him points, and thats all fed was doing w/ his forehand hitting the net so often.

his serve started out really weak too. ive rarely seen him mess up so many first serves. it improved in later sets, but never was really on par with how it normally is.

and nadal held his serve fantastically.

nadal was very very impressive in this final.

Women: Henin is the Queen of clay.

Men: Nadal is the King of clay.
Fuck it hurt to watch Roger lose again to Nadal, but what can you do?
Nadal is just too fuckin good on the dirt. Well-deserving champion, and gracious.

Nothing but respect for him and Henin

On to Wimbledon

I really expected Federer to pull through and take the win this year from Nadal. I haven't had a chance to watch the match yet but from what I've read it was a relatively ugly game from both players (though they're ugly games are levels above everyone else). Federer will win the French eventually though, he's too good not to win it and he'll be around atleast through the 2012 Olympics so he can throw a few Olympic Golds to his other Grand Slams (Now imagine if he wins the AO, FO, Wimbeldon, USO & Olympic Gold in one year )

On to Wimbeldon we go though...
