-- Why does almost everyone think that Tiesto suck?
Pages (6): « 1 2 3 [4] 5 6 »
whatever, I'm not really gonna get into this tiesto thing anymore, not worth my time... its obvious he sucks but hey...to each his own...
it is right not to start any wars between listeners of every dj...anyone can like tiesto or pvd or any dj...but i also worry about the dj charts? Why does he always keep holding place number 1 then?
why is hip hop the mainstream music in america? ...and I find it hard to believe the "dj charts" are a true testament to actual dj skill
does it matter how many autographs a dj signs?
does it matter how energetic he is behind the tables?
Most important thing is this:
does the dj make you dance, smile, party?
If he can it doesn't matter if he does with it dodgy transitions, but amazing crowd-reading like Tiesto. Or 3 turntable dj-ing like carl cox, or albetoning like Sasha.
I agree with you
Which dj do you think is the best from United Kingdom?
Carl Cox, Sasha or Digweed?
Steve Lawler is best from UK. 2nd Nick Warren.
Tiesto
When I started listening to Tiesto I thought he was fantastic. I adored his productions and remixes in 2001 and I never thought he was gonna be as big as he is today. A couple of years ago tiesto gave trance a huge boost. His productions really shined and his remixes became floor stompers. His remix of silence rocked EVERYONE's world, everyone on this board liked it, don't lie and say you dont. Tiesto paved the way onto becoming a big time dj, up there with names like Digweed, COX, Sasha. Just before this time, everyone liked tiesto, all of you on this board liked his performances and productions. It was not until tiesto (and trance) went a different route a couple of years ago. His "sound" changed, and trance was evolving.
I think the "main" reason for people hating tiesto is his status as a big time DJ. When most people say "I hate tiesto because of his music" It means "I hate tiesto because he is commercial now, and im gonna be a real "tranceaddict and hate commercial stuff. It got to the point that trance was getting popular, Tiesto was the height of his game, and he was getting more commercialized. ITS A KNOWN FACT - If alot of people like him and his music becomes more commercialized, people will eventually hate him. People like dj's/music that's more "unknown" or "underground" or "not many people have heard of" Even if the artist still has that touch, people WILL hate him because of his commercialized status.
I think that is the main reason. Dont argue with me saying "SASHA was huge and people dont hate him at all". Sasha was the biggest dj in the world for a while but he never "sold out" as you all say. (by the way, sasha is amazing.)
Tiesto brought trance into a stage where it was becoming more well known and commercialized. As a senior in high school, no one know shit about tiesto and confused genres alot. By the time i graduated college, everyone and their mother knew tiesto, whether you liked rap or rock or whatever. Now people hate him because of that. Thats why when you read retarded posts, you see stuff like "OMG tiesto SUXORZ" And "TIESTOR SUX BALLZ HE IS TEH WORST DJ EVER". People are just going along with trend, going with the "I hate tiesto" flow.
BUT there are other reasons people hate tiesto!!!.
People who actually have standards might stray away from the trend of hating tiesto, and dislike tiesto for his performances and abilities. I have to say that in the passt couple of years, tiesto has dissapointed me a bit. I think the last track that I liked alot from his was flight 643. After that, his productions did not do it for me. Adaigo for strings did not impress me that much either. Its not tiesto though, its me. I have been listening to alot of prog house lately, so my style is changing. To tell you the trush, when i saw tiesto play in nyc, he was incredible, his mixing was off a bit, track selection was predictable, but he got people moving and the energy was unbelievable.
I don't hate tiesto. He is a good dj. I do enjoy listening to him a bit. To tell you the truth, i did somewhat fall into the "I hate tiesto because he got commercial" group for a bit, im not gonna lie. But the real trush is that over the last couple of years my style of music went from trance, to tech-trance, to progressive trance, to progressive house.
So this is my OPINION on this situation, it is what I SEE as facts in MY eyes. Please... and i beg of you please.. dont assault this post.. just read it a bit and see my point of view.
Thanks,
Damien
Dear Damien,
It was really perspective and useful for us to have a comment and write like this in this forum..because almost everyone thinks like you but since they want to be on a side, the either choose to Hate and blaim Tiesto or defend and respect him...I am also in the situation as you..The popularity and attraction that Tiesto has made can`t be ignored but it is changing..the world is changing...Anyway, I am really wondering about this year`s best dj award!

Damien:
I really appreciate what you said and how you said it.
Regarding this year's DJ award, I am very curious myself... I still want to see Tiesto at the top, though. I think he is still the best (at least for me); and might be you were right when you said that Tiesto's music for the past two years was little different than before, but I think the reason for that is that Tiesto constantly trying new things (he deserves a lot of respect for that)... And usually people are not very responsive to something new.
We might see Sasha at the top actually because his last mix compilation `Fundacion` is really good. Besides, I like Sasha`s mix compilations more than his artist albums..We would probably see Tiesto on top again but this time followed by Armin Van Buuren. PVD is a great producer but he might hold a lower number this year. I did watch Armin live and he was brilliant. Anyway, we will wait and see..Does anyone knows when the chart will be published?
If so many people think Tiesto sucks, then why was he #1 in 2004? My conclusion is that most of the people that vote probably pick a bunch of famous names because it's easy to do that. I mean everybodys heard of Tiesto, just like everybodys heard of Adolf Hitler, but that doesn't mean he was a good leader, does it?
This is a good comparison dude but everybody says that Tiesto did great jobs. He might not be the number one right now but he was. Which dj can you show as number one instead of tiesto?
AVB
AvB is good but we will see..When will the chart be announced?
what should it be judged on? Mixing ability? producing? re.mixing? I mean look at Guy Ornadel for instance, one of the best trance DJ's on the planet, but does not like producing music. Does that make him a bad DJ?
I think it should be down to all the DJ's to vote for their favourite. It would be funny just to see who Paul Van Dyk picks!!!

, he was an idiotic leader. He was a genius in persuading people.
pvd
actually I saw pvd 3 times once in BErlin ohh man this guy
is the crowd. Unlike many other dj's he surrounds himself with people
and his dj booth was lower than the people around him .
We got to talk he signed shit loads of stuff he was the nicest
guy. He's known for that ...
So maybe u got him on a wrong night
Probably...
unlikely
Tiesto not my favorite dJ but he is an awseome one..people are saying he sux just cause i guess everyone thinks its more mainstream n everyone knows his name..he was #1 for a reason...but my vote goes for ZAbieLa
Saying stuff like people do about Tisto is obligatory if you're that famous.
But it's still not right. I'm only 14 years old so I haven't been to any party at all =P But through simple math, logical thinking, I understand that Tisto (and any other DJ in that division) is stressed and all. I can never ever believe that he stepped on your vinyl and stared at you, never.
the reason why he's stressed and having a hard life in a way is obvious, because he has to travel ALOT, he barely gets any spare time I guess, maybe that's a reason why he MIGHT not sign a vinyl or shirt or whatever.
I'm definitely not as experienced as you guys.
But for example
Live @ Pinkpop 2004, crowd goes completely insane
Dutch Dimension, what a killer play. MAN! Crowd seems to be enjoying it too.
That's only two examples, but good ones too.
I've never ever seen anything like Tisto or ANY other DJ stepping on someones vinyl or being a total jackass, I can't even imagine it.
hey guys..I am going to see TIESTO live tonight!!(In Cyprus)...I hope it will be an incredible night...I will tell you my report after party....
