i also like how you just grouped rap, hip hop, and r&b all into one genre that you see as "r&b." you sound like the fools that say that all edm is called "techno"

While I agree that you should never be embarassed to say you liike EDM, it sure as hell is never met with "Oh no way! I love EDM, have you heard Sasha's latest." It really is amazing how few people I have met that are into EDM, which is 1 person.

or you know during the morning announcments. id put on some trance and all the school could listen to this great genre of music!!!!
I'm embarassed because people I know associate trance with Ian van Dahl, Ultrabeat and trance I don't even listen to.
I prefer to give people a demonstration of what I consider good EDM, Oakenfold 1999, Sasha of late 90s etc. They usually see why I think that way!
are we talking about an embarassment with people outside of the EDM community...or an embarrassment from within?

Ofcors you can always ignor the ignorant and narrow minded people. ![]() besides I find it cool to be difrent, listening to trance is kinda like being difrent with others in cool way. or thats just what I think ![]() Peace! |

As seems to be the case with most places, in Sweden trance isn't popular either. The "rave music" has a bad reputation and is connected with drugs, probably because of all the baised media reports of parties over the years.
House music is a different story though, it's much more accepted.

Here, in El Salvador and some parts of Latin America EDM has gradually become popular that you can even hear songs like David Guetta's Just a Little More Love,Ecstasy, Traffic etc in plain mid-day on the popular radio stations. While most people probably can't identify i.e. 9 PM (Till I Come) they have surely heard it somewhere. On the clubs, local DJ's often play Tribal, House, and Progressive. From the past year or so some influential DJ's have visited El Salvador including Mauro Picotto, Tiesto, and ATB to the "less famous" like Ralph Falcon and soon the cheesier like Ian Van Dahl (ATB and Tiesto with about 5,000 spectators). Even local newspaper publish reports with upcoming DJ's and party reportys. More "traditional" genres are more popular though such as regueton and Latin and American pop and rock.

Why is it that when at a place like high school, people will be baging trance one minute but when you put it on near the end of class or whatever people would just stop what there doin' and listen. You'd see them get into it. Its soooo fuckin obvious.
Then they'd ask ya what song that was.
Fuckin' dj sammy give trance a bad name.
fuck hip hop nobody listenes to hip hop.
did anyone hear that song? that is a funny tune...
I Can't find the mp3's but here's the info:

I'd rather have unique exclusivness rather than "be like everyone else" on the bandwagon. In Colorado, where Im stationed, people are more open to trance. They still prefer their mainstream crap....but usually respect and appreciate trance. Kentucky however...lol. All the young white kids here think they are black. So trance is "that gay techno shit". I still blast it everywhere I go though. Fuck the masses. |
Where I'm from I wouldn't say people bash electronica. They more or less are indifferent to it, but never seem to develop interest in it. There have been many times when I'd be sitting in my dorm room playing some song, ex. Mindcircus, and a friend would come up to me and say "Yo that song is sick! What is it?" But whenever I try to introduce other tunes to them, they just kinda nod their heads up and down politely. Meh..I personally think that people who mainly listen to trance and electronica listen to music differently than others and favor different musical elements that aren't found in the modern pop stylizings of the likes of Lil' Jon (god I fucking HATE the so-called "hip-hop" club music). But in the end, to each his own. I'll stick to my music and you stick to yours.
Well, i'm from Texas (duh
) so I automatically get sterio-typed as liking country music, and riding horses everywhere. I really don't mind... I actually would like to go back 1000 years and live like that.
