i dont know if its because im american, but your views on rock and
r&b are extremely ignorant, shallow, and misinterpreted.
not trying to be mean.

Posted by Kapedano on Jul-07-2005 04:34:

well i think he meant rnb as in hip hop shit, and yes hip hop is shit, black girls and their pimps shakin thier ass in vedios with no meanin but violence. personally im not like this, i dont give a fuck about blacks way of life, and cant stand fuckin wiggers. im not racist but thats the truth. with rock? hmmm i think its shitty these days, but i love classic rock. trance just fits my personality.

Posted by MeRc_4_HiRe on Jul-07-2005 04:37:

because im still in high school, the school is divided into rock, goths, hip-hop/rap, and like me, well theres no trance group

thats a hip-hop stereo type.
and hard to argue against lately.
but some rap is very good natured.
i mean tupac rapped about peace and harminy and shit.
thats just 1 to name a few.
rap just has a bad image i agree.

that's because trance tunes (or tunes from any edm genre) don't TELL YOU how to dance to the song that's playing. i wonder if hip hop/rap/r&b would be as danceable if they weren't saying...shake your ass...lean back...blah blah blah...every 10 seconds

you're making the exact same ignorant comments that people who listen to non-edm make about trance. By saying that it all sounds the same means that you actually haven't taken the time to understand the music. i also like how you just grouped rap, hip hop, and r&b all into one genre that you see as "r&b." you sound like the fools that say that all edm is called "techno"

and i appreciate others opinions, but i don't let that affect my view of trance. trance is the form of music that i enjoy, and i'm never embarassed to tell anyone.

While I agree that you should never be embarassed to say you liike EDM, it sure as hell is never met with "Oh no way! I love EDM, have you heard Sasha's latest." It really is amazing how few people I have met that are into EDM, which is 1 person.

that sucks :/
when i was in highschool, there was a group of 15-20 EDM people.

Anyway, it's probably true that everywhere in the US (maybe a few select cities are different) people are very inclined to joining the mainstream bandwagon because it's the cool thing to do and point their fingeres at people that aren't on it. Too many people make judgements on ignorant assumptions, but it's great talking to those people sometimes when they make false comments like someone that listens to rap saying, "Trance is produced by geeks on their computers," when their music is produced by the exact same means.
People who choose to listen to mainstream stuff because they actually enjoy it are at no fault and are not fags or dumbshits, but the people who listen to mainstream because everyone else is and it's the cool thing are the "fags and dumbshits."
Like it has been said "Listen to music because you enjoy it, not it's status."

your not alot brotha. i always had this dream before the school starts in the morning, u know how all the students wait for the doors to open, i imagen myslef like at the top of the buildin with some decks and just playin some trance!! lol but all them mother******s dont like trance so fuck it!

Posted by Kapedano on Jul-07-2005 22:08:

or you know during the morning announcments. id put on some trance and all the school could listen to this great genre of music!!!!

Posted by fbgdavidson on Jul-07-2005 22:16:

I'm embarassed because people I know associate trance with Ian van Dahl, Ultrabeat and trance I don't even listen to.

I prefer to give people a demonstration of what I consider good EDM, Oakenfold 1999, Sasha of late 90s etc. They usually see why I think that way!

Posted by Floorfiller on Jul-07-2005 22:16:

are we talking about an embarassment with people outside of the EDM community...or an embarrassment from within?

My friends might not like trance music but they will respect the fact that I like it, and I respect everyone else choices. Ofcors you can always ignor the ignorant and narrow minded people.

As seems to be the case with most places, in Sweden trance isn't popular either. The "rave music" has a bad reputation and is connected with drugs, probably because of all the baised media reports of parties over the years.

House music is a different story though, it's much more accepted.

Yes, Contra makes you think of dicks. It's a fun game and all, but I had no idea.

Here, in El Salvador and some parts of Latin America EDM has gradually become popular that you can even hear songs like David Guetta's Just a Little More Love,Ecstasy, Traffic etc in plain mid-day on the popular radio stations. While most people probably can't identify i.e. 9 PM (Till I Come) they have surely heard it somewhere. On the clubs, local DJ's often play Tribal, House, and Progressive. From the past year or so some influential DJ's have visited El Salvador including Mauro Picotto, Tiesto, and ATB to the "less famous" like Ralph Falcon and soon the cheesier like Ian Van Dahl (ATB and Tiesto with about 5,000 spectators). Even local newspaper publish reports with upcoming DJ's and party reportys. More "traditional" genres are more popular though such as regueton and Latin and American pop and rock.

Why is it that when at a place like high school, people will be baging trance one minute but when you put it on near the end of class or whatever people would just stop what there doin' and listen. You'd see them get into it. Its soooo fuckin obvious. Then they'd ask ya what song that was.

Fuckin' dj sammy give trance a bad name.

Posted by edski on Jul-08-2005 15:20:

fuck hip hop nobody listenes to hip hop.
did anyone hear that song? that is a funny tune...

I Can't find the mp3's but here's the info:

Boo Selekta - Fuck U Up (Nobody Listens To Hip Hop).wma

I'd rather have unique exclusivness rather than "be like everyone else" on the bandwagon.

In Colorado, where Im stationed, people are more open to trance. They still prefer their mainstream crap....but usually respect and appreciate trance.

Kentucky however...lol. All the young white kids here think they are black. So trance is "that gay techno shit". I still blast it everywhere I go though. Fuck the masses.

Posted by MannyStiles on Jul-08-2005 16:24:

Where I'm from I wouldn't say people bash electronica. They more or less are indifferent to it, but never seem to develop interest in it. There have been many times when I'd be sitting in my dorm room playing some song, ex. Mindcircus, and a friend would come up to me and say "Yo that song is sick! What is it?" But whenever I try to introduce other tunes to them, they just kinda nod their heads up and down politely. Meh..I personally think that people who mainly listen to trance and electronica listen to music differently than others and favor different musical elements that aren't found in the modern pop stylizings of the likes of Lil' Jon (god I fucking HATE the so-called "hip-hop" club music). But in the end, to each his own. I'll stick to my music and you stick to yours.

Well, i'm from Texas (duh ) so I automatically get sterio-typed as liking country music, and riding horses everywhere. I really don't mind... I actually would like to go back 1000 years and live like that.
