haha, trust me, i was a judge in the last two competitions, and no-one tried to bribe me.. i guess you're thinking of premiering this technique this time round?

anyway, i don't think i'll enter, seems like a hard track to remix.. as always, i'm up for judging, though.

hehe, well i'm not planning on entering, the track doesn't have any elements that makes it interesting to remix.. (or interesting at all to be honest).

but maybe i'll tell everybody i'm one of the judges and then start asking for bribes

Posted by RickyM on Jul-27-2005 09:36:

You can move me from potential to definite if you like

Haha, well, let me tell you how I choose the judges then..

First, they must know about music production, so just a guy who likes to rave and have a few drinks and getting high while listening to trance, won't do.

Second, they must be responsible, this is not just a contest to be the best remixer, you already know what else is in the line here, so whoever accepts to be a judge, must finish what he started.

Third, they must be someone I know and trust,I don't want someone who gets the tracks and start sharing them all around the net or perhaps steal it, who knows? this world is full of goods and bad pears, and they are quite a few here, some of them are participating so, they are discarded.

I'm afraid I'll have to ask fellow producers that don't even belong to TA.

Well I have a nasty habit of butchering my tracks when I spend more than a few weeks on them. In this case I had absolutely nothing else to do for the last 48 hours.

I'm interrested to hear this chilled version. The thought crossed my mind, but I decided it would be too risky.

I haven't even thought of starting my remix lol.. maybe i should

Doesn't matter, the last remix comp, you were allowed to send as many remixes as you want but the last version counts after the deadline passes.

Am willing to judge if i cba to rmeix, am not sure yet.

I judged last year and willing to do again if needed. I have a basic set up of my mix but hehe..am really not what i used to be with music. Finishing stuff is getting hard for me these days ;/

Put me down as well dude!!

Posted by DRM on Jul-27-2005 23:35:

question : am i allowed to use the vocal sample thats in the original or would i get disqualified for that? and wot about if i sample it myself from the film? cuz then im not actually sampling the original track

Posted by Bren-F on Jul-27-2005 23:59:

Count me in on this !

Posted by DC76 on Jul-28-2005 00:07:

Sweet! We got Bren in on it!

I'll d/l and listen to the MIDI, then I'll come back and make a decision. But expect something at least mildly symphonic if I do get in on it

No sampling of any kind, read the original post guys, I updated about this matter.

However you are free to hire a singer to do the vocals for you, since you can collaborate in this with another person. There you go.

Posted by DC76 on Jul-28-2005 00:31:

Sweet tune! I'm in. For sure.

I might not be as good as some people in this thread, but what the hell, it's music, it's potential, and it gives me a break from remixing shite MIDIs of VGM that are so far off that they barely sound anything like the original

Posted by PDM on Jul-28-2005 00:35:

COOL, THERE ARE STILL 3 VACANTS LEFT.

Thanks for the interest guys.

would really like to say that i'm in, but since i haven't finished a track in some time now i don't think i will finish a remix of this either :/

so maybe it's nicest to give someone else a chanse to be in it

That's the problem with the max entries, I don't think it's necessary. Not all 27 will deliver a remix.

Just give it a try m8

Well, I do think is necessary, but everyone can try, that is why I made the stand-by option, if someone drops out or don't deliver the remix, I'll contact the guys in the stand by.

What if this time everyone delivers the remixes, then me and the judges will have a tremendous work to do, checking out over 27 tracks.

I said I had the time, but I don't have the time to check 40 tracks or so, neither the judges, specially if they are signed artists, who also have to take care of their production for near releases.

That is why I set a deadline, a max of entries and a stand-by mode, and won't change my mind.

My Regards.

out of curiosity, why 27? i mean, 30? perhaps 25? why the uneven number 27?

On the other hand that's also true.

I'm gonna give it a shot too, since the Der Mystik remix didn't work out so well it did gave me more experience !!

[edit]
ok.. im confused, after listening the sample and the Yahel - Voyage wich I already had on my computer, Ive got a question, in the first half of the sample you hear the first lead, wich is the only lead in the Yahel - Voyage on my computer.. in the tiesto rmx (on my computer) is the lead you hear in the 2nd half of the sample.. wich one of them should we remix :s since in the sample I hear both leads and in the Yahel - Voyage (original) I only hear the first lead..

The sample has it all m8, which is from the original. It's up to you whether to use the whole package or just one of the two or some self made spin-off of course.
