DC SUCKS The DC Metro Area SUCKS Everything about this place SUCKS I have lived in the burbs of DC all my life. The people here SUCK. Its a bunch of white house, picket fence, golden retriever, American dream suburb, FATASSES who have too much money and are pissed off and confused on why they are still not happy. GET A CLUE! If you live in this place too long it'll suck you in and warp your sense of reality. Its hella clicky and its hella hard to meet people. There is a lot of stuff to do but you have to go out and work your ass off to do it. Its hard as hell to get in the door, you have to force it open, because everyone's afraid to let you into their little private world. If you're willing to put in the work to show people they can trust you (and it takes a LOT of work) then maybe you'll be alright. Everyone in this area is afraid. They're afraid you're a terrorist. They're afraid you're going to judge them. They're afraid you want to rape them and all you did was ask to dance! What a miserable existence they lead by walking around afraid all the time. Anyone who says its not hard to meet people here is either a (hot) girl or in their mid tweenties and still hangs out with their high school friends. CLICK-EY! You're going to die here you pansey. Even a lot of you in this forum are guilty of a lot of this. Many of you click to a certain TA group rather than make any effort to meet the general TA population. I've even messaged a lot of you about local events and you've given me the snub. (Before you go and quote me with your reply, its because you're a snob and thats all it is.) The people here are in a daze unaware of the world outside the beltway. I fucking hate this place, I've always fucking hated this place, I will always hate this place, and I need to get the fuck out of here before I loose my mind. If you want a minivan and several kids one day this is probably the right place for you. If you're young and just want to have fun, this is NOT the place for you. |
Here are some pics of the get togethers that we've had this year. In case you didnt know, nearly all of the DCTAs are on InnerDC.
01.07 | iDC Party #1
05.14 | iDC Party #2
08.05-07 | iDC Getaway at Bryce Ski Resort
For our next party I am trying to book James Holden to come to DC and a lil private boat party for all of us.

Wow, this thread is full of some jaded people.
DC has advantages and disadvantages. To me the main advantage is that it's a small town. If you really want to get involved in the scene, it probably only takes you a year or two to meet everybody that's important.
The other cool thing about DC is the messageboards for the clubs. Very easy to meet cool people that way. I don't often meet random people at clubs, but I've often hooked up with mesageboard folks there, and most of my best friends I've met that way.
I've always thought Glow's vibe is really 'off', but I think Nation and Five were decent places to meet cool people. I think you guys are just going to clubs with really wrong expectations. Just go there with some friends, dance and have a good time. Why try to pick up people? That shit is annoying, anyway. Be genuine and people will generally respond genuinely here.
Anyway, if you all are looking for a nice laid back edm party in DC with friendly people, for the most part, check out my party every Wednesday in fairfax:
Info is here:
http://www.giveproductions.com
We get about 100 people a week, and everybody knows everybody else. Oh no, I guess that makes it cliquey. Whatever, introduce yourself, and people will talk to you. It's really that simple.
I feel your pain all. CT isn't the best place for meeting people either. we've got a lot of stuffy people out this way too... it sucks sometimes, especially when you love meeting new people. the other thing that sucks, is there seriously are barely any hot guys with personalities in this state... what happened to personality??? a bunch of stuffy duds, slackers, players or mama's boys I tell you, around here at least... (no offense to the one's who aren't that, I obviously have not met you if that's the case)
I love meeting new people! I'm going to armin's show in sept. at crobar with some friends! if anyone's going we should all party it up!
that's my soapbox!
otherwise, it's all good!

| Originally posted by tatgirl Its true, dude. DC is a really tough city to meet people in. Believe me, I didn't have a lack of people in my social circle by any means, but as far as dating or making friends, its really hard. I moved to Toronto almost 6 yrs ago, and on a typical night out at a club, you could come home w/5 new friends phone numbers. I think I only made 2 friends in the 5+ yrs I was going to Buzz. People are WAY friendlier here. Dating on the other hand was even tougher up here. DC was full of dogs who wouldn't commit, but at least you got laid. It took me 4 yrs to meet anyone here (and lucky for me he stuck around ). |
Someone asked about VA
VA is even worse than DC and you realize this as soon as, and I mean as soon as, you cross the border into Alexandria or Pentagon City or Fairfax or wherever the fuck you're going.
Kinda hard to describe but it's the vibe in the air. Suddenly you find yourself in a very conservative place where the South begins.
I lived in Charlottesville VA and it was the WORST experience of my life.
As for NoVa, one guy I know summed up living there as follows (and I agree completely): "Living in Northern Virginia feels like bathing in a dish of sterilization solution."
