sorry about the whinning. the easy answer is to go to a different label and turn the other way. i just got to look harder now.

you can put this down to the rise of software synths. 100%. available for free all over the internet... all the newcomers flock to them and rinse their presets dry. i've lost count of the amount of times i've heard RefX VanGuard leads/basses/acids in trance productions over the past year or so

whiteroom takes it for me. was able to appreciate just about any trance played by the bignames up until this came along... all seemed to go downhill after that

Perhaps I would, but how much I would "whore up" my work over the dollars would have to be seen. Take William Orbit and Madonna for instance. Ray of Light is considered by many one of the finest productions in her history, and with enough reason. Not so with N*Sync's tune/album. It was never about doing something new, only the same crap with a fancier envelope (therefore making it sound "less poppy")

Like many, instead of evolving, BT chose switching sides from "barely underground" to "completely mainstream", and not with one tune, but his whole "Emotional Technology" abomination. Someday he might be able to make it back but believe me, I'm not waiting.

Darey successfully fused vocals (often the diva sound of Marcella Woods) with anthem trance. The focus was on the clubby nature of the production, not emotional pretension. Compare Beautiful to Burned With Desire and it strikes me as a clear difference.

Emotional Technology was an album that was rushed and done in a couple of months..instead of years (like he usually does). I believe you are aware of the fact that all of his work from the "original" emotional technology was destroyed because some assholes broke into his studio and jacked everything he had at the period therefore he lost all of his work. So basically he had to start all over with E.T. Granted it did sound more commercial but I think that could be looked over because of the above fact and the fact that BT always wanted to do vocals. So there you have it. BT is releasing a new album in the end of this year or the starting of next year and its gonna be back to his MISL style and more "dancefloor oriented".

As far as N'Sync goes .. you should know when you are doing commercial music especially pop music there are certain restrictions you should follow. And if you are working with N'Sync on a title track of an album you have to have that catchy pseudo-hip vibe in the track and if you take a look at it from that perspective I'd say it was a pretty good track. Yeah it wasn't good enough or underground but you have to sacrifice things when your doing mainstream music and getting paid assloads of money just because your working behind the scenes for the title track of an album. Hell I'd do it just to say "I have worked with the likes of N'Sync". That phrase alone says a lot on your resume and helps ALOT when approaching different labels (even electronica ones) or different projects.
