Techno wanna makes your booty shake,
whereas trance wanna makes your arms lift up the air.
(And Scooter wanna makes you vomit!)

Goa originated in Germany?
Techno is short for techno-house?
Talla 2XLC is the godfather of techno?

You learn something new every day.

you gotta be kidding me. that site is just full of mumbo jumbo. and all those "references" are written by various random visitors of the site with no knowledge of EDM.

For example the explanation of trance is totally wrong. It seems to explain only the early 90s hardtrance. Not a single words about the first trance labels such as Eye Q Records, MFS, Superstition. And not a single word about Sven Vth. LOL!

And when you read about the goa trance part it says "Goa was born in Germany..." and then it say "Trance was played on a lot of beach parties and because of its warm climate of goa vinyl would melt."
LOL! I laughed when I read this. The guy who wrote this obviously got no idea that Goa is a place in India. A place where lots of hippies and djs went in late 80 and early 90s to go to beach parties. Even Sven Vth went there and was influenced by the music there which gave him inspiration for his Eye Q label.

also: " Goa trance is played all over the world and the public seem to enjoy it more because it is more relaxing and easy-listening style than other types of trance".
The style goa trance doesn't exist any longer. It almost totally vanished a couple of years ago when most of all goa trance labels disapeared. Most people would refer to psychedelic trance when refering to goatrance today.. And no it's not the easiest style of trance since uplifting with the strong use of vocals and melodies is far more popular than goa trance.

And the description of techno seems to been written by some affiliate from Suck Me Plasma. Gee there were loads of techno djs besides Talla 2XLC.

in australia if you ask the average person techno is EDM as a whole, doesnt really bother me. To most people (even those in EDM scene call stuff by scooter, dj alligator, brooklyn bounce etc Techno, and people like Rank 1 etc 'trance' where as the techno the yare reffering to is actually hard house i think.

armin van buuren / dj tiesto / paul van dyk / menno de jong / ferry corsten

what MOST germans call techno isn't what MOST of other people call techno, style such as mauro picotto, marco carola, chris liebing end so on, when they mean style like talla2xlc. which is so called "german trance" to me (not to be confused with euphonic label and other brilliant german trance acts) which doesn't really have any of the flow, massive soundscapes, filters or anything known from (read: real if you will) trance, but hard edge bouncy 1 2 3 march feel.

i'm not saying i or anyone else is right or wrong, but obviously whole lot of different sounding styles are called with the same name.

and what comes to scooter, they indeed startted with trance, not many people know that, check tune "Rhapsody in E" for example, that's actually more trance than what trance is nowadays (if trance is suppose to be what it was when it was born in 91-92)
clip: http://mp3.juno.co.uk/MP3/SF185663-01-02-02.mp3

but i think their early days are more known from their happyhardcore/rave songs. and some people call hardcore as "hardcore techno" so that "scooter-techno" combination has came somewhere from there..

not to get too lost from the topic, here are what i think is trance and what is techno:

Techno (Faster):

That's somewhat of a crappy example of what oldskool Trance sounds like. Here are better:

yeah your examples are more what most of the oldskool trance sounded..
but crappy? you call "humate - love stimulation" crappy? that's one of the rare old trance songs that still today sound as enjoyable as the day it was released.
i actually spotted only 2 of those clips, one was age of love - age of love, and one was energy 52 - cafe del mar (cosmic baby remix)

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Nov-15-2005 16:58:

Well, one was Acperience.

Posted by RebeL9 on Nov-15-2005 17:21:

that clip is from Caf Del Mar (Oliver Lieb club remix) which was released in 1997.
THIS is the Cosmic Baby impression from 1993.

why do you think Hooj Records had the Hooj man smoking weed on their vinyls back then?

And not a single word about Sven Vth. LOL!

Maybe Talla made a much bigger contribution to the whole scene (maybe even invisable, on the background, maybe just by grounding the Technoclub).
The discography of Suck Me Plasma, to me, is much more impressive then the discography of Eye Q.

TallaXL2
quote:
Talla founded the "TECHNOCLUB" established in 1984, located in the legendary Dorian Gray (R.I.P) @ the Frankfurt Airport.

Sven Vth
quote:
1986: Still DJ in the Vogue club, he starts making a name for himself on an international level as a party master. He works in Ibiza and following to his return to Frankfurt he produces his debut project, OFF and the Stan Ridgeway-inspired single "Bad News" (on the Bellaphon label), with Michael Mnzing and Luca Anzilotti (later to form Logic/SNAP). This makes Sven the first club DJ in Germany to produce and market himself. It also lays the foundation for the "Sound of Frankfurt". In the same year, he and Mnzing/Anzilotti produce the second single, "Electrica Salsa".

I can understand why they just talk about Talla and not Sven, but also would understand when another site just would mention Sven.
There are different ways of viewing at something. Both could be OK.

By the way, I think the site shows a nice overview. Maybe not 100% correct but at least a good try.
Since it seems that you know it all maybe you should give it a try to make the perfect overview instead of just shoting at others.....

Suck Me Plasma may have released more than Eye Q but the latter made a much greater impact on the trance scene and paved road for many future producers. And the amount of classic releases which became all time trance hits are way more on Eye Q such as:

Zyon - No Fate (1991)
Energy 52 - Caf Del Mar (1993)
Cygnus-X - Superstring (1993)
Cygnus-X - The Orange Theme (1994)
Vernon - Vernons Wonderland (1993)
Odyssee of Noises - Firedance (1994)
Brainchild - Symmetry (1994)

these are tunes which have been rereleased numerous times.
Off Suck Me Plasma I can only think of Sunbeam - Outside World and the early Dance 2 Trance releases which were important.

Posted by Aiwendil on Nov-15-2005 20:33:

Sven Vath had nothing to do with the founding of Eye Q....

indeed he had.

Between summer 1991 and spring 1992 Sven Vth founded the label "EYE-Q" together with his manager Heinz Roth and Matthias Hoffmann. It was divided into the two sublabels "HARTHOUSE" (for a techno/house style) and "RECYCLE OR DIE" (featuring electronic instrumental/experimental/ambient music) and the the "EYE-Q Main Label" (for everything that doesn't fit into the other catagories).

I believe it depends to what you were listening in the 90's.
These I still remember from the 90's:

Final Fantasy = Komakino
Rodd-Y-Ler
York
Kai Tracid

Also, after Talla founded the record company Music Research many sub-labels appeared:

quote:
Bonzai Germany, Bonzai Trance Germany, Chaos Records, F-Beat Records, Fetish, Future Recordings, Influence Recordings, Komatunes, Metamatic (Germany), Mindworx Records, Music Research Special Products, New Zone, SFX, Sound Of The Supermarket, Suck Me Plasma, Tetsuo, Tripomatic Records Germany, Unreal, XTC Germany, Zoth Ommog

Especially Bonzai and Tetsuo had some famous producers. But enough about labels, producers jumped from one label to the another and back.

http://www.discogs.com/label/Music+Research

That's why I said Talla maybe had a bigger contribution. I didn't look how much succes the tracks had. Other labels lateron probably had more succes.

Posted by Aiwendil on Nov-16-2005 20:53:

Alright, Talla was bigger and earlier than I thought. However, I question what was actually played at Dorian Grey and "technoclub" up until '88-'90; how much of it was actually techno.
