argh.. that kind of stuff makes me cringe. You think there's some kind of magic button in a DAW that reads "epic melody"? Lol

I don't understand why you people insist on belittling a genre that you supposedly like? I love this music so I have a high regard for the people who make it and know that it is extremely difficult to do. I'll admit being talented at classical music obviously requires more skill that producing trance... but I hate how you depict producing a good trance tune as some easy thing that anyone can do if they want. It's simply untrue and reflects badly on this style of music.

Yes. The button is called A-D-E.

Standard chord progression for any dutch trance CHOON.

Red face

Ok, I give up. The fact that I have to defend trance on a TRANCE forum is too much for me to bear... Good on you Ishkur

Posted by Aiwendil on Nov-18-2005 20:08:

He defends trance more than you do.

Man, he's not even attacking Trance. He's defending "real music", or music that takes real talent to make, which you are insulting.

there is nothing to defend
trance has defeated itself

Lol, or Eminor-C-G-D for an emotional dutch trance CHOON. (Kamaya Painters "Endless Wave"

Urban Train also runs off the same pattern with some changes I believe.... Tiest0r loves that sequence!

Ill tell you why white people dominate the trance scene. When you goto parties theres always like good looking, clean cut people. People who listen to EDM i believe have higher standards. They have a higher standrd of living...and i higher standard of music. Thats why i think trance is the best

jezus... it's not dominated by any kind of colourd people.. it's origins are just in country's where more white people are living then black people.. anyway... quit stupid thread for me

Na i think this guy is completely right

Have you ever been to a rap/hip hop night?

I have, and all it did was remind me we evolved from apes.

thats a joke btw so dont get all shirty!

but it isnt

Posted by Sykonee on Nov-20-2005 16:42:

Strange. I went to a hip hop night, and it was mostly dominated by white Backpackers.

That's Del for ya', though...

I suspect that it's just a cultural difference. Black American culture is dominated by dick-swinging egotism, which is anathema to the ethos of original trance (not to be confused with the Barbie-crack that big name dj's spin these days).

Originally, trance was more in tune with the Eastern philosophy of transcending the self, which is the antithesis of the swaggering self-glorification endemic to American popular culture in general.

Either that or white men can't dance

Posted by tranceDJ on Nov-21-2005 05:44:

Funny because black people pretty much invented EDM...there were many black people doing disco records in the 70s...disco evolved into house which trance and techno eventually came out of. Same thing with rock n roll, black people invented it but how many rock bands have black members?

Pretty much they invent the music then rich white people take it over and exploit it.

it's not about race, its about how you live your life
trance and other EDM listeners tend to be very liberal living
look at where most EDM producers are at.... Europe.
America is dominated by consumerism, and to the brainwashed, trance is "strange". Unacceptable.

Aaannd....that's where trance was invented. By white guys. Though techno and house and rap were invented in the US and they're "dominated" by "black" people. If it wasn't for liberal living black americans, very likely you wouldn't be here right now. And there are more "white" people in america than other races. Therefore, assuming you're right, even if america was more "liberal", "trance" would very likely still be dominated by "white" people. So in the end, what the hell are you going on about?

You see, it is about "race" or rather, about cultural music origins and their influences on different EDM styles. How so? It has been explained in the thread already.

Posted by mndeg on Nov-21-2005 06:27:

american isn't liberal at all. evangelicals have control of the government right now. the whole country moved right after Reagan.
black people listen to rap because THEY HAVE TO. a black person that doesn't live somewhat by the hip hop lifestyle is looked down upon by other black (until they reach a certain age of course)

btw practically all the white people at my university listen to country, rap, or rock.
some frat people are into cheesy IvD stuff

.... Mike Jones! who? Mike Jones!

It doesn't matter.

No, they don't HAVE to do any such thing. I doubt they would live a hip hop lifestyle if they did not like and choose to live it, or if they preferred another lifestyle. There are many "black" people who do not live the hip hop lifestyle, and I fear you are probably succumbing to the stereotype of "all black people like rap and live the hip hop lifestyle" based on what you've seen on MTV and the relatively few black people who you have seen around you...

Yep, my fears are correct. "All(not all) the people in my tiny corner of the world are this way, so that's how everyone else must be as well".

That has to be one of the most heavily edited posts I've ever seen.

Posted by Axolotyl on Nov-21-2005 06:41:

I cant be arsed reading the whole thread, but I'm at a loss to see what america has to do anything of this. Aside from the huge racial divide in the country, how is it relevant? Its not like trance is really represented there by either whites or blacks.

You could go even further and ask why is trance dominated by the dutch? Because they were the pioneers at the time and defined the sound... simple really. And furthermore, why has it been dominated by just a few dozen or so producer/dj's, their friends and their numerous alias's??! Tis just the nature of this wicked EDM club scene I tell you... Got nothing to do with skin colour imho...
