Ferry is Free too, But I feel no need at all to see him.

but trance energy dont they spin for 2hrs each?

20 hours doesn't appeal to me...

lmfao

yeah i dont even think u can compare 37euros for that lineup and $40 (or $60 at the door!) for 1 DJ... just cuz it goes on for 20hrs doesnt mean u have to stay there, go for 6 hours if thats all u want. theres prob more competition there than there is here. plus when i was in europe, flights were so cheap it seemed pretty common that people would take a 20euro flight to another city to see someone spin... here its a much more take what u can get kinda of thing.

Huh?

Quivver
Zabiela
Sasha 2x
Digweed
Ferry
Paul
Armin
Holden
Picotto
Sander

+ more Jan-March in NY...

not to mention DC & Boston

All 4+ Hour sets each a different night... Yeah it may cost more. But why would you rather have a bunch of djs in 1 night, rather then a lot of the best DJs playing longer sets on different nights.

hahaahah please, go for it

lee: you're getting way off topic. we're talking about 1 night, not a span of djs you get in 2 months lol.

I'm not sure how, lol. Can someone explain to me.

Posted by AY STAR on Feb-01-2006 23:02:

i agree i would deff like to see a dj spin a 4 to 7 hour set in a club
and pay 40 bucks then go see a dj spin for an 2 hours the most at a festival
but sometimes over in europe and at ultra you will see a dj you really wanna hear who never comes to nyc and you will probly go see him
so to sum it up i wish the nyc trance scene was better in bringing in more lesser known trance djs and
i know pvd is gonna be a good set at roseland and i dont mind payin 40 bucks to see him but 60 at the door is gettin a lil steep to see a dj for those that have to pay it

Posted by ShellSh0ck on Feb-01-2006 23:15:

+1 AY STAR

what about blaming it on made events & co, i mean it's all about clever event-marketing.
you just pay 60 bucks in nyc (the states) to see PvD, everywhere else it's less than that.
10-15 as long as i went to see pvd in germany.

just my 2 cents.

Posted by AY STAR on Feb-01-2006 23:19:

tru i dont think its all mades fault
i think its an nyc thing cause even when he was at exit in like 2002 or 2001 iam not sure it was like 50 bucks
and when tiesto was at exit it was 40 bucks so its not just a made event thing
i know dam sure outside of nyc pvd is not 40 bucks
i think it has to do with pvds booking fee plus renting out roseland and plus brining in their own sound syestem
so it does add up, its gonna be a big night

Posted by ShellSh0ck on Feb-01-2006 23:26:

might be...
well they're bringing their soundsystem + lights to the
Kesselhaus or E-Werk as well and those venues are way bigger than roselands.
it doesn't affect the price tho.

Actually, PvD at Space for WMC last year was $60 at the door. If you spend much time in music discussion, you'll realize that some of the big names cost even more in other big cities. I've heard of Tiesto charging like $80 for non-Tiesto in Concert events in other cities.

That said, this was only $30 for a day or two when tix were announced, then went up to $40. I won't even be in town on that date, but if I had been, I'd have jumped on the $30 tix. People made the same complaints for Central Park and Roxy, but I think I paid $20 for CP and $20-30 for Roxy even though they were $50 by the time the event came around. It's all about getting your tickets early.

Read This!

Peter Griffin: Uhh...a lotta people want PvD; that's supply and demand, it's the foundation of our entire economy ...

If you build it, they will come. If they'll pay, might as well charge.

I, too, dislike the high prices. If you want to bring someone along, or introduce others to the scene, the price completely turns them off. (Bradley Rose / RetoxNYC / Flawless are great for this purpose.)

On the other hand, made-event does sell the tickets a lot cheaper when they first go on sale. It's a common way of capturing consumer surplus. Sell the first couple 5-10% of tickets for less to gauge demand. If the pace is good then raise the price. Keep raising the price till the pace of sales is just right to fill capacity (100 tickets a day, with 30 days to go). Websites like ticketweb and ticketmaster are great at analyzing sales patterns to predict ideal selling price.

i was lucky enough to get on the 35 dollar promotion for pvd..def wouldnt have gone if i had to pay 50-60. but festivals are worth that tag sometimes since you get to see more djs..

then again, id rather have a nice 4-5 hour set than a crappy 2 hr "best of" type set.

Posted by umes23 on Feb-02-2006 00:39:

pvd 6 hours + is way better than 1 or 2 hours each from any unlimited number of (famous) djs

Yea im saying its better to get djs over a span of time rather then 1 night.

Posted by AY STAR on Feb-02-2006 00:56:

tru it is about gettin the tickets early
i always get them early so i dont have to worry about hight door prices or the event selling out
so i got my ticket at 40 bucks plus the bullshit surcharges from ticketweb so its like 45
and its a six hour set so i think its gonna be worth the money
i just wish that there were more nights on which lesser known djs would be here in nyc
i mean i see the club one14 in philly gettin great lesser known djs to come in week after week
the last real great underground trance night nyc had in my opinion was when nu nrg, perry o neil and m.i.k.e came to town
hopefully 2006 will bring in more nights like that

The openers play like 1-1/1 and headliners play like 2-3 hour sets. Marco V had his own stage last year and he spun a 3-4 hour set, thats how it went down last year anyway.
