He probably will close it, It's more politics now..
I heard fastmp3 doesn't know how to close threads though.
Sure, He can.
fast is secretly keeping it alive because of all the teams that could be kicked out it could possibly be Iran or maybe they will withdraw themselves who knows but he knows the best nation to replace him is
MOROCCOoooooooOOOOOooooooO!!!!!!

ban england for teh w1n!
If Iran is banned it wouldn't be replaced by Morocco.
Get your geographie lessons!
Iran comes from Asia and for sure a country from asia will replace them if they are banned.
Morocco is from Africa!

Iran is not getting banned, so far. I for one hope it stays that way.

| EU seek Iran World Cup ban European Union lawmakers will urge political leaders on Friday to back a letter to Fifa calling for Iran to be banned from the World Cup finals because of controversial remarks by the country's president. Members of the European Parliament will send a letter to the head of soccer's world governing body, Sepp Blatter, and EU leaders citing statements from Mahmoud Ahmadinejad calling for the destruction of Israel and denying the Holocaust, as well as Iran's refusal to renounce its nuclear activity. It was not clear how many MEPs would sign and Fifa has said it has no intention of banning Iran's team, which kicks off its campaign against Mexico on June 11 in Nuremberg, a city associated with Nazism. "We have cross-party support for this and we will now go back to our governments and opposition parties and send them a letter, asking them to back our call," British Conservative Party MEP Chris Heaton-Harris told Reuters. "We believe a precedent has been set in the past, in particular in cricket and rugby with South Africa and Fifa needs to do the same." Ahmadinejad has called for Israel to be "wiped off the map" and has referred to the Holocaust as a myth. Denying the murder of 6 million Jews by the Nazis is a crime in Germany punishable by up to five years in prison. German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said the remarks were unacceptable and likened Iran's nuclear plans to the threat posed by the Nazis. However, she said she would not seek to ban Iran from the finals, which kick off in her country on June 9. Iran faces possible UN sanctions unless it halts its nuclear activities, which the EU and the United States believe are a cover for developing nuclear weapons. Iran says its nuclear programme is a civilian one to generate electricity. Heaton-Harris, a former referee and Secretary of the Parliament's Sports Intergroup, said the letter to Blatter urged that Bahrain, who finished runners-up to Iran in qualification, be given the Iranians' berth. "This would also send the message that we are not against Muslims, but just against Iran and its policies," the British politician said. |

i see no reason to involve football with politics..
It isnt enough for Bush to fuck up the world. Now he is trying to ruin the World Cup by banning Iran for no goddamn reason. Football and politics are different things goddamit. A good quote from South Park: "Are you high or just increadibly stupid?...I can assure you that I am not high."

Ok Ben, and the rest of you. Its not just Bush on Iran. Its almost the whole world, even EU included, so dont make this about Bush. Yes he is againts it, but most of you will blame him because you allready hate him. So look at the big picture. Although football and politics are two different things, in times of war, and with a govt like Iran..we shouldnt just do whatever they please.
True that. I mean this guy is trying to influence a countries participation in a tournament when he himself doesnt know the status of his own squad.
I cant find that article but basically there was one on soccernet about the us team with bush stating that "The team this year is very good or atleast thats what i have been told".

| President Dubya is up for the World Cup BERLIN, May 7 (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush said in a newspaper interview on Sunday he did not even know what a soccer ball looked like when he was young but a new generation of Americans was catching up with the rest of the world. 'As a boy I never even saw a soccer ball,' Bush said in an interview with the Bild am Sonntag newspaper. 'Where I'm from soccer wasn't played. The sport just didn't exist. So there is a generation of Americans who really aren't soccer fans.' Bush said a lot of Americans did not even realise until recently how important the World Cup is. Germany is hosting the tournament from June 9 to July 9. 'A lot of us grew up without any connection to soccer -- me, for example,' Bush said. 'But there is a new generation that has grown up with soccer. They obviously have a great interest in the World Cup. 'And some of us older fellas are starting to understand how important the World Cup is for the whole world.' Bush said he had also learned the United States have a good team that qualified for the World Cup finals this year after reaching the quarter-finals in 2002. 'Of course the U.S. is my team,' he said. 'I've been told that we have a good team. But who knows whether it's good enough to win.' |
