Not all intelligence is based upon "book smarts." Some smart people can be lazy. Or uninspired. Or they just get lost in the shuffle and figure "Hey... it's an easy job and I'm happy with doing that, despite knowing that I am smarter than most people."

of course there are "bright" people out there with shitty jobs, but to say a garbage person is "brilliant" is kinda humorous to me. if they are so brilliant they would know how competitive our society is and how you pretty much need a college degree to truly succeed....NOT to say you can't be successful without one, but i really would be interested to see this huge cluster of genius garbage men

I never said huge cluster. But I guarantee there are garbage men and janitors and strippers etc who are leagues smarter than both you and I. To think other-wise is pretty close-minded.

For example, while my father is no genius, he knows more about histroy than anyone I have ever met. He can rattle off dates of events and people who created things and generals in wars and all that type of stuff without any hesitation. His profession? He is a printer who prints menus and posters and stuff like that.

I'm just saying that just because a person is not a scientist or mathematician and has instead chosen a more frowned upon career does not automatically mean that they are any less intelligent than anyone else.
