You're fuckin' right it does. There's a book by Roald Dahl called The Twits (children's book), that touches on this very subject. Paris Hilton is most definitely a Twit.

The only reason men have dominance over women is because the earliest societies were ruled by might of the strongest, the physically strongest being men. All institutions from then on were molded from this ideal until people never questioned why the institutions were the way they were. That's why men, even as society has become more rational, have always been dominant, because our societies have been molded by might makes right, might from the male species.

Not really on topic with images of women, but I think it's important to look at...

The thing is that woman are able to recognize that the way the media portrays them is wrong, and fight against it.

How many men are there protesting the way males are portrayed in the media? None. It's just as bad, if not worse. In fact the brainwashing done to men is so severe that they never second guess it.

For the media to be saying that girls have to act like sluts to please men, means that the media has already brainwashed society into beleiving that men are stupid sex driven individuals who enjoy that sort of shit.

But we ARE sex driven individuals..

I think it also has alot to do with the feminist movement being so 'in' that people are afraid to even mention men's rights. If there was a group promoting such a thing, they'd probably be labeled as sexist and macho. Same thing for the race movement.

errr, so you looked exactly the same when you were a teenager, as you do now?

...or are you 14 and simply don't know whats ahead?

Oh, and a comment on the topic at hand; I've always hated Paris Hilton. It blows me away how someone as stupid as her managed to make it past 20. You'd think she would've walked onto a busy highway by now.

I dont mind women in powerful positions but I do mind women that think society owes them something because they werent treated equally and have a feminist attitude. Granted women should still never drive.

A year ago there was a popular theory that men were going to become extinct over the course of a couple million years or so. The rationale was that the Y chromosome was steadily deteriorating over time. It used to have over a thousand genes whereas nowadays it has 27. Compare this with the 1000 or so genes the X chromosome retains. The latest study, however, has shown that while the Y chromosome among other species continue to decline, in humans it has been remarkably resilient as it becomes more efficient. I think it fits in quite nicely with the stereotype that most women are unnecessarily complicated.

So by saying this, you prove my point.

You, as an america male, feel that men are sex driven individuals (and implying that we are to a greater degree than women)
If you beleive this is the truth, than you are truly a victim of the media.

i took this course last semester for a credit about women in film and the way these people think about things is completely ridiculous. they over anaylze everything to the point of absurdity to try and justify what they want to. i'm not sexist or anti-feminist, but atleast be smart about it.

in today's world women are becoming more and more powerful and i think there will come a point in the next couple generations that women will replace men as the dominant sex, unless men get their shit together and keep up. in our generation i think women will be more educated, more successful, and socially more powerful then men whether it be dating, in the work place, whatever.

at least from what i see out there, women don't really have any worries about ads like these. true it displays female sexuality, but it does it for the most part in a powerful way. women are well aware of their sexuality in today's world and ads just increase the notion of women being desired and in that position of control.

seriously though, women tend to hold themselves to a higher standard and it's that fact that is slowly moving them and preparing them for success. we teach women these things from an early age, men however have very few encouraging factors pushing them to achieve in the same way.

bullshit.

Women just bitch a lot.

The end.

here's what i ran my mouth off to tricia on -

Aristronica: well here's the thing
Aristronica: i understand sex sells
Frenchie: yes it does
Aristronica: but what i was getting at is that women do not need to be put in a dominated roll in order for it to sell
Frenchie: yup
Frenchie: true
Aristronica: and like it's blatant and yet society doesn't see it. they focus on shit like iraq and stupid things like that
Aristronica: i don't give a fuck if a girl gets half naked - cuz a dude taking his shirt off will do the same thing. but it's these subtle things that are almost subliminal sometimes
Aristronica: but they completely undermine the whole "feminist movement"
Frenchie: " " lol.
Aristronica: well i mean that's a very broad thing
Aristronica: cuz not every woman wants exactly the same thing as the next
Frenchie: EXACTLY
Aristronica: but as far as social equality
Aristronica: ads like that completely put that concept into the toilet
Frenchie: What happened to you going to bed?

(sorry babe had to include that last line )

instead of bullshit and drama? yes it was better we actually discussed shit and knew how to have some fun. i'm hoping that what we're going through right now is just a phase and it will pass... not a downward spiral.
