Switzerland is playing fucking great, they're in the lead with 2-0 against Canada.

What a fucking save by Gerber right now, No one in could believe it!!

The referee is checking if that was a goal right now!

I think it was..

Posted by zoric on Feb-18-2006 16:02:

No goal!

Switzerland!!!!!!!

Posted by partyhopper on Feb-18-2006 16:58:

Switzerland beats Canada, 2-0, and continues its Cinderella story!

what a difference the goalie can make
amazing show by Gerber, withstanding 26 shots in the 3rd period, whereas the Swiss had only 1, for a total of 49 saves in the game
the last time the Canucks were shutout was in the Olympics was in 1988, by the Soviet Union

the Swiss do have an advantage of being able to train more together as a team

Posted by zoric on Feb-18-2006 17:05:

They still shouldn't be winning against Canada, Look at the differences on the players.

I think it's more like they're far more even as a team, and play very much like a team. I'm really impressed by the Swiss.

Now, Valon would add extra skill to the team

Posted by metalgearsolid on Feb-18-2006 17:10:

I don't expect the Swiss to go anywhere. Just wait and see.

Posted by partyhopper on Feb-18-2006 17:12:

The Swiss have Italy and Germany remaining in group play
It would be more amazing if they don't advance

Finland vs Czech Republic later today - could be a 4-way tie for 1st place in Group A if the Czechs win
A win or tie for Finland would put them in 1st, followed by SUI, CAN, and CZE

Posted by zoric on Feb-18-2006 17:20:

Switzerland is impressing many of us, but do they have the capacity of going further?

I hope so.

Anyways, Sweden has a 5-0 lead against Latvia with 5 minutes left of the second period.

Czech Republic vs. Finland will be very interesting and I hope for a entertaining match, certainly.

what the fuck

Posted by partyhopper on Feb-18-2006 17:33:

there's probably going to be at least one pairing of pre-tournament favorites facing off in the quarterfinals

perdiction: loss to sweden tie to Russia which will be enough to see them through and Latvia out with Kazakstan

Posted by zoric on Feb-18-2006 22:04:

Peter Forsberg is back on track and will be playing tomorrow. He also played earlier today against Latvia and he scored at least 2 points, 2 assists..

Sweden looked pretty good today and I hope they can get out of their cold streak that they're having atm.

Finland beats Czech Republic, 4-2
Completes a day of surprises
They and Slovakia are both undefeated

I'm surprised US kept up with Slovakia... they were in the whole game... right up until the end...
