what they need to do is get acts that are already playing mixed format in miami to come up with mix shows for the radio stations. instead of paying for radio personalities as much as they do, it would profit them more to bring in new blood with a newer mindset on how music is heard by the masses.

I'm not downing the radio stations because although they recieve flak day in and day out by the likes of hardcore music lovers, they manage to keep the ratings up and in reality, thats all the executives care about when they day comes to an end.

what they hsould focus more on is finding talented dj's who can take different genre's and find a way to blend them in together. i know it can be done because there are already radio stations doing that in Chicago, where i was booked to play for NYE. and to be honest, it sounded really good.

In Chicago? What commercial FM radio stations in Chi-town blend mixshows or Dance music in regular rotation?
Chicago has a long history with Dance music and Dance friendly radio, starting with WBMX in the 80s (the first station to play House music), then B-96 in the late 80s to mid 90s, and finally Energy 92.5 & 7 in the first couple of years of the 2k. Ever since then there hasn't been a whole lot of Dance offered on Chicago radio sadly. The weekend mixshows on 103.5 Kiss FM (Chicago's version of Y-100, or CHR/Pop radio) are mainly Hip Hop and a few Dance remixes to Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey and the like, and the same is true for B-96 (Chicago's version of Power 96, or CHR/Rhythm radio). Shame really b/c B-96 used to have some decent mixshows, and its compilations were distributed nation-wide.

yeah but 107.1 was an underground station...with $5,000 it can be brought back...107.1 was the best dance radio station BECAUSE they didn't have to fulfill the needs of commercial & mainstream cry babies. I personally liked it better that way.

No other station has been able to match it...sad enough I don't think one will be able to.

i was definatly in sao paulo for several weeks, and the stuff they play on engergia97 100% reminded me of 93.1. nothing but lasgo, pop dance remixes and eurodance.

Yeah but late at night, and especially on the weekends, they also have some really good mixshows (even of Psy-Trance, which is big in Brazil)
