should post some clips..

because eric didn't do that much. he just touched up the track, added better percussion, made it sound more proffesional.

"Two years ago Eric and producer friends Retarded Funk were working together in the studio when they hit upon the idea of using Steve Winwoods Valerie as the basis for a dance track. Armed with a CDR and keen to test it on the clubbing public, Prydz passed a copy on to DJ Falcon during one of his UK gigs, who immediately made it a regular fixture in his sets. Eric couldnt have anticipated the stir the track would have: fans clamoured for more information, only for it to be uploaded to an internet site, assumed to be the follow-up to Thomas Bangalter & DJ Falcons So Much Love To Give and wrongfully attributed to them."

not saying thedjlist is the most reliable source, but it's probably more reliable than you.

also, for the record, 'call on me' is not cheese.

Omid (proximus) has told me this story several times and he is close friends with both retarded & mafia.

Posted by andreas1999 on Mar-14-2006 15:25:

yeah, now all we need is a sample of the original version and eric's version..

Posted by montana on Mar-14-2006 15:40:

sample of the original mislabeled bootleg

and then compare it to the released version

thanks for the sample! sounds awful compared to prydz version. i guess that could be because i've heard eric prydz version a million times and i'm used to it.. they are VERY similar so i guess it's obvious eric basically remixed it and added his sound to it.

i'm going to get those old unreleased mp3s of his i have and post some clips tomorrow.

Posted by montana on Mar-14-2006 15:51:

it's basicly the same track, he just structurally edited it a bit, used better sounds, percussion and then used zee sidechaining

Posted by andreas1999 on Mar-14-2006 16:28:

the original has sidechaining as well. it's also not as well produced. the stabs are terrible. bassline isn't as good as the prydz version. basically he re-did the whole thing, using the same sample and ideas from the original. original is out of key at a few places too.. (beginning of the chorus loop)

of course, this is a 96kbps sample so it's hard to hear the details

it's like different brand names

who's who and mode hookers and angello & ingrosso all have different sounds, i mean they are similar but they do it to differentiate.

if it was all labled angello and ingrosso the consumer wouldnt really know what to expect

angello has admitted as much in an interview, i cant remember where, mixmag maybe? maybe it was online.

Eric Prydz

Aliases: Cirez D, Moo, Pryda, Sheridan
In Groups: A&P Project, Axer, Dukes Of Sluca, Groove System, Hardform

It seems to me that Prydz is releasing most of his stuff under Pryda (Aftermath/The Gift) these days, well, the tunes that consist of his usual sound. Like, what was the last release he had under Eric Prydz... Call On Me??? Cprrect me if i am wrong. But under his alias Cirez D he is shitting out hard, techy, electro type house non-stop. Like Scolomon siad, I agree that alias are used for different sounds.

A Eric Prydz album is in the making, probably with a little more comercial touch ..

Posted by iLL on Mar-14-2006 22:43:

didnt know that, maybe thats the reason. How the hell can he have time for an album, the mafia spits out new tracks every hour. My idols

yeah he's good at sampling, especially italo disco, he did a nice rework of woodpeckers from space with hoodpecker

his influence in moderne electro clash/ tech house was a good upbringing, sorta helped me realize that the 80s were a great year for basslines

I see. But it seems to me prydz would be far more successfull as far as being known with the mainstream if he had one or maybe two names. He doesnt even have a website for gods sake. I dont think the majority out there know that Moo is Eric. Same thing as that I dont think that the "mainstream" knew that the Moonman was Ferry. There is a song... say "nyana" and then there is "traffic." Both very different songs but under Tiesto. Why doesnt Tiesto feel the need to have so many names? Because he knows it will slice out how popular he is. To Each his own opinion....

The difference there is that maybe as "Eric Prydz" he'll be the commercial producer/remixer that some, not all, djs can respect and play out. But as Cirez D or Axer or Pryda he'll just be a straight non-commercial producer/remixer that all djs can play without getting that dirty feeling.

Whereas Tiesto sold his soul about 4 or 5 years ago for all the money he can fit in his teeth.
