Even if it was the official language, doensnt mean people are gonna learn it. Come on they came here ILLEGALLY. There are ways to come to this country the legal way & millions have done it, my family included. So i got no remorse for these protesters whining & waving thier own countrys flags in america. Just cause they survived the bananna boat ride here or survived crossing the desert doenst mean they get to automatically be a citizen.

i feel like venting so...

listen. it's two-thousand-and-fucking-six. yeah, i'd say maybe like 40% of immigrants who enter the country by illegitimate means actually get their alien status green cards and work for what they have (and i'm willing to bet that's a pretty generous figure). but what about the rest? they burden the already overburdened system here in the U.S. there's no need to keep letting people into our country, we're full, kthxturnaroundbye. the people who are actually CITIZENS here who don't have it so well can't even get fucking help when they need it, so why should we help everyone else? yeah, i'm well-aware that my great-great-whatever-grandparents migrated here two centuries ago and that they were immigrants then. but they didn't have the problems america has in this day and age to deal with back then either. so to all you who think we should keep letting these leechers into the US to feed off my and your tax dollars when i can't even get decent fucking health care, piss off. and if someone already had this rant sorry.. didn't feel like sifting through seven pages of apologist whining for the underprivileged.

Keep in mind that most illegal immigrants are working jobs that legal workers don't want to have due to low salaries so don't get things mixed up.
Health care is a totally different matter and shouldn't even come into play here. If an illegal gets sick he will most certainly be in more trouble then you.

I feel like there's so much ignorance and confusion in a lot of posts in this thread.
In regards to wellfare food stamps and stuff you are supposed to have a social security number. If you're in the US illegaly you can't really have one.

Posted by Vlad on Apr-10-2006 23:08:

Im ok with if immigrants want to come to this country, contribute, pay taxes, and actually try to apply themselves at a real job. Instead of coming here and applying for welfare immediately, than demanding healthcare just because you are here. And on top of that, alot of the immigrants that come here purposely commit crimes so that they can go to jail because of how good convicts have it in there. And out of who's pocket does all this money come from? All of us tax payers.

to point A)
there are Americans that could use those jobs, no matter how low they pay. why should some border-jumpers who won't even end up paying taxes get dibs?

to point B)
when an illegal immigrant goes to a free-clinic, that drives up costs for the rest of us who actually pay taxes, because it's not coming out of their salary (usually under-the-table). so it's costing me. and i have a problem with that.

This is basically want we/they want, they just want to work here and live a better life than they do in mexico, if you ever been to mexico where ive gone, you would understand why.

tell 'em to get their fuckin act together and make *their* country livable then.

no one is going to change my opinion that we don't need any more people in this fucking country

How can you deny someone a better life?
seems like you need to get your act together

anyways, i dont worry about this subject cause they cant/will not get rid of all of us. We are here to stay.

If they want to live the 'better life' they should be prepared to deal with the responsibilities that go with it, i.e paying taxes.

Like this.

"What business do you have in America? Oh, you want to leech off the government to feed your twelve kids? Go to Canada, bitch."

Burlington is home to like 50-something Sudanese refugees. they all have a free-ride to college, and drive nicer fucking cars than i do. but guess who pays for it!?

it's bullshit. i couldn't go to somewhere with a better society than America, say, oh, Sweden, and demand a better life / free car / free college and on-top of that, bitch when people don't understand my native language.

You sound very confused on the subject

Ps: keep in mind that I am not defending illegal workers but you must remember that they are in no way shape or form ( for the most part I believe ) stealing YOUR OWN JOBS!

No one is denying anyone a better life, but why should they get a better life at my expense?

But that's the thing! For the most part they are not!

i never said anyone was stealing jobs from me personally. but i'm sure there are homeless/veterans/otherwise disenfranchised AMERICANS that would like those jobs that some wetback took. and if they don't.. sucks for them.

How is that when most of them apply for welfare, demand free healthcare or go to jail because life there isnt all that bad? And us tax payers pay for all of this.

One cannot apply for welfare if one does not have a social security number .....

not true.

esp. in liberal states like VT that seem to give a fuck about everyone and their mom.

What do you have to say about jobs being outsourced? Thousands of jobs lost left and right. Im a conservative, but this is just absolute bullshit - companies like that need to be taxed up the ass for doing something like that.

Its not true. Although illegal immigrants are ineligible for welfare, food stamps and other public service programs, they can obtain some of them by using false identification papers. It's a big business and not difficult to create an identity for this purpose.

para comensar,

It's rather funny to hear most of you complain about someone learning English, when some of you can hardly articulate a proper sentence, yet alone, a paragraph.
y para rematar.
furthermore, you probably only speak that one language.

it's interesting to see people come down so callously on illegal immigrants of latin origin, when it was just yesterday, it seems, that your people came here. so what, now that it's convenient for you, you can look down on someone else? it's wasn't that long ago that you were being looked down on as well. have you forgotten?

Finally, we didn't all just wake up one day and said, "gee, i think i'll go north." The situation in Central America and Mexico are at the point they are right now for a reason, and frankly, that discourse would take too long to establish here on TA.

ps. JDAT you're OK M8

Yes, my parents are immigrants, but unlike the people coming here from down below... my father started out driving a taxi cab, than started up his own carpentry business.
