Of course, on your first won contest, you get to host the next

I think Sand Leaper chairs a committee on this exact topic!

My suggestion a few months ago I still think is the best. I'll rework it a little so that it comes out like this:

Every 4/5th Round is a "Fun Round" where everyone gets to submit 3-5 tracks (depending on how many different people submit) into a group ID pool. Some sucker then gets to run it. (You can't submit IDs for your own tracks to keep things simple). The winner just gets bragging rights. I think this didn't take off because of inertia. Oh well, if inertia wins again, it don't bother me.

As for normal rounds? Well they should stay normal. If the same people win, then the same people win. I think this would be a problem if there was strong evidence that for instance 2 people with identical taste were just passing the victory back between each other (because they could easily identify each others tracks), but that doesn't seem to be the reason why people win. ID + SL just seem to go naturally together

Did I mention that ID + SL just go naturally together yet?

Exactly.

Common people, it's just a game Just participate and try your best, and if you win, you run the next contest, if you don't well better luck next time, there's always other tunes in each contest. I can't see all the fuss about this.

I can't be arsed typing up all the titles, so you're gonna have to figure them out yourselves

Posted by GroundLine on May-23-2006 17:20:

I hope Floorfiller is happy now as I passed on my "free" 3 points so that he could beat me.

And Sand Leaper wins with a whopping 33 % marginal, better than Lordi!
But I must admit that Christine Guldbrandsen is prettier.

Sorry, inter-european humor.

Oh God. 15 marks I pissed away there. I reckon that sometimes you should really sample a more obvious part of the track, because it's easy to recall a central hook, riff or vocal to mind but much harder to associate a less important part with the track it belongs to.

Posted by Chris.CSC.AS on May-23-2006 23:08:

less trance would be da shit! ;-)

Well the point is to identify tracks from only a short sample. If you make the sample of a minor part of the track your brain won't make the connection.

The concept is to sample a track with very obvious parts in a not so obvious part of its composition, so that it'll be harder to get them. For instance, Haak sampled Beck - Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime in instrumental bridge part. Had he sampled the vocals it would be easy as hell to ID it right off the bat.

Well my mind just doesn't connect some tracks because I don't recall the less important parts unless I play the track a lot.
