Alitalia had some gorgeous flight attendants, both male and female. their outfits were pretty awesome too, they just looked a lot classier and fashionable than other airlines i've been on, but i guess being an Italian airline that's probably to be expected.

haha, and one of the flight attendants on one of my flights home from Greece had the same last name as me. i showed him my ticket stub with my name and he just looked at me like ... so i said "you could be my cousin!" and for the rest of the flight he kept telling all the other flight attendants when they walked by "look, she's my cousin!"

im sorry to disagree with u myra but here at least alitalia has a pretty bad reputation .....i know a lot of people who travelled with alitalia and they told me to never book a flight with alitalia because they all made the worse flight ever .

I remenber when i just landed to cairo in 2004 and in the airport began to chat with these 2 aussies who lived in london. They told me they took alitalia and would never take it again and wanted to use an another compagny to go back to london.

but maybe u was in 1st class?

I've only flown on Alaska and Southwest. I really like Alaska. Southwest, not so much. For starters, decorating the inside of the plane brown doesn't make for an interesting flight.

I haven't had any real problems anytime I've flown with either airline. My only beef is with security, as my trip to San Francisco last month was a hassle; I tried walking through the metal detector with a clear bottle of Root Beer that was half empty. I was moving the bottle around enough for anybody to clearly tell that I was hiding nothing in it. However, they refused to let me hold it and demanded that it be sent through the x-ray machine for "security purposes."

Dont know if anyone said this but I heard that Delta is getting rid of Song in July I think.

Best airline is probably Delta or United. Ive never been significantly delayed with them so theyre fine.
The worst is definitely US Airways. Holy flying fuck they suck at life. First I get delayed a day cause they had a problem with the plane I was on. Then all they gave me was a hotel voucher. No meal tickets or flight vouchers or anything. After I bitched at them for like an hour on the phone they gave me a $125 coupon to use.

So I wanted to use that this weekend to go to Vegas.

Well a few weeks ago I checked the prices of tickets one way from Vegas (driving there, flying back) and it was $94. Then a week later when I went to make the reservation it went up to $230. I was like fuck but it was my own fault for waiting a week til the flight so whatever, I still have that coupon to use. And since you cant use the coupon over the phone or on the internet, I had to go to the damn airport to get my ticket. So I drive an hour away and when I get there the guy tells me he cant get my ticket and that I have to go to a real US Airways ticket counter not Us Airways Express. Meaning I would have to drive another 2 hours to LA just to pick up the damn ticket. I said fuck you, fuck that and booked a flight with the cheap airline that flies into my town from Vegas. So,

Cheap small airlines ftw.

Edit: Ohh yeah Southwest is good too. I love picking my own seats and usually no one will sit next to me cause Ill put my shit in the seat next to me and kinda lean over. Awesome.

Took 3x longer to go from Springfield, Missouri to St. Louis, Missouri( a 3 hour car drive) than it did to go from St. Louis, Missouri to Baltimore, Maryland. Stupid storms and tornadoes made us stay up in the air for 3 hours circling and then we had to land somewhere to get gas and then finally got to the airport so I could catch another flight to Baltimore.

nope, i was in coach. it was my first international flight outside the US though, so i'm sure that because i was basing it against my experiences flying within the US, it had an impact on my opinion.

Flown with Aer Lingus a few times, the Irish one. No problems to report... would definitely recommend them. Fairly cheap too, except for the skyrocketing airport taxes.

Flown Ryanair twice.. bit of a cattle market and everyones hand luggage got squashed in the overhead bins (not mine, I hid mine under the seat). Dont like their no-seat-reserving policy tho. The flight was bumpy and people on the plane screamed when the pilot brought the plane down really, really hard landing on the runway at Kerry Airport. Was funny

Wouldnt fly Ryanair again unless they were much cheaper than others or unless I had to.

Jetblue FTW. I flew it twice to southern CA (Burbank and Long Beach)...great experience plus. Also a bonus that they don't fly out of LAX and deal with the nightmarish traffic out there.

Flew Song twice to Tampa, which is pretty much like Jetblue except you can buy food from the plane....both pleasent experiences

I've flown frontier from LAX to Denver. Almost like Song and Jetblue except you have to pay $5 to watch TV .

Airtran is ok in coach, but business class in great....it's definitely worth upgrading to business class the day of flight for only $35-$75 more

Continental is OK. Nothing really special about it

Best airline I have been on was British Airways.

Worst was Delta and Air Canada. Lost my luggage (more like never put them on a plane)

Best service I ever had was on Asiana, a Korean airline... Shaving kits, variety of cologne, tooth brushes, tooth paste, real china, real silver ware, nicely prepared, hot meal of Korean food and the highest quality attitude in flight attendants i've ever experienced... ALL in COACH...

I've flown, Delta, American, US Air, Northwest, Alaska, Eastern, Asiana, KLM, Ryan Air, Easy Jet, AirTran, ASA, American Eagle, and Aerolineas Argentineas....

Worse service was always US Air...

Eastern was pretty good back in the day... Delta use to be, when they weren't broke...

SAS has been good and bad to me. Good: Chicago -> Stockholm on a plane about 1/3 full and very hot flight attendants. Bad: Copenhagen -> Chicago 5 hour delay causing me to miss my last possible connection for the day.

Air New Zealand was pleasant. Los Angeles -> Auckland (18 hours or something rediculous)

But nobody beats Air Emirates. It's like flying in a limo, almost.

i find that people often attribute delays to the airline when it usually has more to do with the airport.

i try to avoid connections in certain airports. like i won't fly delta because connections thru atlanta are really unpredictable.

i prefer to fly american because their staff tends to be polite but since they have no direct flights from SFO to EWR i don't have a lot miles with them anymore.

usually i fly continental because they have the most direct flights to EWR. i really find their staff to be snobby but in the end the only important thing is getting a flight that meets my schedule. usually all the direct flights are pretty close to the same price for the places that i fly.

in general i've found a lot of european airlines (on international flights) a lot nicer than american airlines. specifically, air france, swiss air and virgin atlantic. i flew lufthansa but it wasn't anything special. the only exception was i flew iberian air once and it was a nightmare.

first class on both emirates and singapore airlines

Posted by Vlad on May-05-2006 04:06:

Ive never had a bad flight...

Than again, most of the time Ive flown first class or business... unless Im in a smaller plane, than I really dont care - but I usually get hooked up with seats near the front of the plane.

My dad has worked for QANTAS my whole life so i get to ride up the pointy end of the plane for free/cheap

ive made out with chicks i just met on a plane.
as in sat next to them, talked for 5, then engaged in some tongue action.
i havent flown sober in 6 years.
ive crossed the atlantic 6 times, all drunk.
i cried to the latest peter pan in-flight movie (because i was drunk).
ive met 4 girls via air travel.
unfortunatly none resulted is sex, so far.
ive thrown wheelchairs down the escelators that go up on the international wing of one of the jersey airports.
ive slept in said wing by placing two 4seat benches next to eachother.
ive woken up in said airport, said wing, to the sounds of fukcing mexico.

ive completely forgot a layover i had.
drinking in jax, landed in cincinati.
found a bar, watch some baseball.
next thing i remember is being on a payphone at a baltimore airport.

ive danced thru metal detectors.
ive hit on guards.
ive had bottle taken from me at the gates.
almost been in 2 fights.
one with a british dude in france.
other with someone i know.

thats most of what stands out ... for now.

Dude, the plane we were on out of Dhaka didn't even have business class. I swear to god it was falling apart. The first plane we were in, we had to wait on the runway for 2 hours while the sorted out a "problem". We ended up switching planes. Shit airline with the worst track record for crashes. I believe thats a guiness record as well.

yet another reason to feel bad abt my country

Posted by DarkAngel on May-16-2006 00:20:

Thumbs up

Well, after my recent trip to Toronto, I had no problems whatsoever with Northwest Airlines. Everything went off without a hitch.

Posted by jdat on May-16-2006 00:26:

Well most companies are kinda the same in a sense ... I am pretty immune to travelling so I don't pay attention to minor differences.

The only thing that truly matters to me is getting on time and good stuff. I am usually lucky.

Worst flights ever on were
Tower air ( went out of business )
Air India, getting on the flight on a passover from India and the plane wasn't cleaned and the bathroom was the filthiest thing ever.

Best
British Airways
Jal
Singapore
Swissair
Air France ( it kicked ass when I was a kid I got to go in the flight cabin so many times too bad you can't do that anymore ).

the airport i'm closest to and use the most often is t.f. green (providence, rhode island). it's really good, everything usually seems to go well there.

worst is by far, w/e the fuck the one in newark, new jersey is called. what a piece of shit airport that one is. the flight we were catching out of there left 5 minutes early (when we were delayed from our flight down from providence as it was, so we had to RUN), and then when we explained it, they bitched at us. what the hell? and this was with continental airlines - the shittiest group of planes compiled ever. continental express is even worse!

Posted by jdat on May-16-2006 01:14:

^^^^ lol

plane leaving early that's the first time I've heard that ... but in Switzerland trains ( which are a very common means of transporation that everyone uses ) leave early all the freaking time.
