the basis is his discography

hes done italo, eurodance, house, techno, trance Successfully

lets not forget early 90s house as well

im not sure if hes the greatest producer but he certainly has the greatest pallet out of any trance producer in existence

I know what he's made. However, I've never heard anything to suggest that he's "revolutionised" or been "fundamental" in the rise of any genre.

his techno is very abstract

his eurodance and dance remixes are more progressive (RAF began in the early 90s)

look at his remix of iguana. where it just builds up into a standard beat and bassline. Im sure alot of trance producers like katana (in silence and aquarius remix) and outback (turtle beach outback remix) for example use this style for a different type of trance.

His regular trance Proxiums was extremely uplifting, komodo topped the charts with its unique sound and so forth.

this is all just from the top of my head but im sure i can dig up more examples if i had his music in front of me. It just occured to me his significance in expanding the sound of trance.

Diversity is this man's middle name.

No, that's a load of rubbish. He didn't revolutionise anything. Those aren't even very good examples of minor innovation.

That's every discussion not related to statistics.

Ferry Corsten
Armin Van Buuren
Fred Baker
Tiesto
Andy Moor
DJ Taucher
DJ Sakin
Solar Stone
Riley and Durrant
Sander Van Doorn
Thrillseekers
Lange
Pulser

To be honest I could go on all night..

if you're mentioning andy moor & riley & durrant at the start, I'd rather you didn't

Posted by UniversalNation on Jun-21-2006 12:54:

Riley and Durrant are fucking brilliant!!!!!!!!!1

They are not in the league of Mike or Airwave, Corsten etc but I really enjoy thier productions.

ATB has produced some really great trance music.
I quite like Jonas Steur aswell, and a lot of Paul Van Dyk's older stuff was really clever, and subtle too, instead of having massive breakdowns and too many layers

i dont know what the hell your talking about.. thats a good example

so maybe he isnt a huge innovator in the music.. but his production style is unique and CREATIVE. and all over the place.. he can produce anything. and has followed the times quite nicely

lieb would probably be the greatest since his production list is huge and he has made tons of quality tracks i agree

but picotto falls into another category of greatness. Being unique and diverse.

Posted by Sykonee on Jun-21-2006 18:07:

Bill Laswell is FAR more diverse than Picotto. Where's the respect for him then?
