I haven't been listening to many DJ sets lately other than my own. I guess the only DJ that's really intrigued me lately has been Digweed.

totally agree

who ever said it was??? no one in this entire thread said anything along the lines of "local DJs are not as good as international ones"

untrue...if a DJ plays the kind of music i like, then id def want to know his name so i could go see him again (thus enjoy the music again)...nothing about that is "DJ worship" imo...come to think of it, i chose the DJ BECAUSE of the music he plays and not the other way round

@topic starter: freeland, erol alkan, 2many DJs (even though they cant beatmtach), and zabiela

hmmmmmmm......so many deejays are pissing me off by playing weak electro and just awful tech house, even some of my faves from years past.

MYNC Project probably, even tho I have not partied it up in recent months but their 2 hr May Essential Mix was pure dirtyness, esp. that Cass and Tom M remix of that Prince track.

V-sag: this guy is in a league of his own. Beautiful deep greek progressive. If I want easy listening mixes, I turn on his frisky radio sets. "epic" and "emotional" prog

Paul Oakenfold: Im really liking what oakenfold is doing lately...he is going back to his gold mine of the perfecto label. He is pushing all the artists and remixes of perfecto and at the same time playing some of the newest quality trance tracks.

Micah: the definition of melodic progressive I love his ruhnsong mixes.

those are my favorite 3 right now

Micah's great. Parks & Wilson, Michael Paesser (Probably sp), Tisto (The older sets).

Great names here!

I really enjoyed gaude, erol, and micah a lot. Kind of a different sound, but also really liked Luke Fair's programming and the 80s mixes he slips in I will have to check out some of the new names at the bottom. Keep 'em coming, very good stuff.

my favourites at the moment are niklas harding and james holden.

i think harding plays a great blend of music, throwing in various styles to great effect. i really enjoy his radio shows and a couple of weeks ago i got to see him live for the 1st time, as he played here in dublin. he played a blinder, but what impressed me even more was the appreciation he showed for the fans. was chatting with him for a while and he is a really sound bloke, not stuck up his own arse at all. he made the gig very personal for the fans with the way he interacted, it almost felt like a house party which, imo, is the basis that the dance scene was set up on - everyone in the same vibe, just enjoying good music without any egos or 'superstars' getting in the way.

the reason james holden is one of my favs at the minute is again, down to seeing him live here in dublin. i have to say that technically, he is miles apart from any other dj i have seen live. on the night we had a choice between gabriel & dresden or holden and im so glad we choose holden. technique wise, it was the best set i have ever heard. it was so diverse and weird but it was brilliant.

Currently, I'm hooked on Leama & Moor. Awesome remixes of Tranquility Base's Getting Away and Avril Lavigne's I'm With You.

dj.

I've not been remotely excited by 1 dj this whole year (not that I can remember anyway).

I've not been clubbing much and hopefully ibiza in 2 weeks will change my opinion. tbh the only person I'm looking forward to seeing is danny tenaglia, and this is purely based on stories from my brother on past visits to ibiza.

tbh everything sounds very stale to me at present, I don't think I've even bought one new record in over a month, very unusual for me.

Favorite "DJ", not producer

Ricky Ryan (check out his recent mix for digweed's kiss 100 show, he mixed 27 tracks in 62 mins and the flow was nothing but perfect)
