Rooney did not deliberately stamp on Carvalho. I can't be arsed to argue that point any further.

The fact is that Rooney was getting fouled all over by two defenders for a good 30 seconds and the ref saw fit to do fuck all about it. if he'd given a free kick like he should the stamp would never have happened. Anyone would get riled up with that level of fouling. The portugese cheated horrendously all tournament and especially in the semi final and their progress even that far is a bad statement about the state of the game. I'm just pleased they didnt win it as they play awful football, hardly ever score and just cheat their way through everything. The prime example in the France semi final match was Postiga's 'i've stepped on a land mine' dive in the box when nobody was even remotely close to touching him.

Yes it was a free-kick because Rooney was being fouled, and yes the Portuguese r ditry c*nts but he lost his head and u cannot say that he didnt mean it, his reputation for losing his head is well known - he meant to kick Carvalhio in the balls, i have no doubt about that

I never said that he didnt mean it or after it happened it shouldnt have been a red but the fact is he got riled because the referee let the portugese get away with murder. I think they went out to rile him and unfortunately with him being a chav idiot he fell into the trap. Ronaldo's sly wink to the bench after his little chat with the ref was disgusting and i hope Rooney does stick one on him when they get back to training. He deserves that and more for being such a cheat.

Quiet now, your opinion is invalid due to bias as all irish, welsh and scottish on this matter. You'll always take the opposite side to the English rather than the side of reason. I think apart from the three aforementioned countries and Portugal, pretty much every other foreigner is of the impression that Rooney's red card was a case of unfair play by the Portuguese - nothing more. This is why Ronaldo was jeered in the France game and will again be jeered in the the Germany game today.

The Scottish even voted for Ronaldo in the FIFA young player award to try and counter act the damage we were doing by voting for someone else.

Good to see Germany give Portugal a final beating. Good to see them get a rough ride from the ref too. Saw they were still hurling themselves to the deck all game.

face facts-your team bottled it big time. there was a few good individual performances...but on the whole the team failed to deliver. blaming ronaldo is fucking pathetic. the team actually played BETTER after the red card!

The facts are Ronaldo was disliked a lot before the WC even started. Running around our league like a ballerina and then crashing to the floor like a sack of shit everytime somebody won the ball from him earned him the minor hatred.

Then his whole teams performance against Holland, France and Germany reinforced the hatred tag of a bunch of cheating, diving ******s. Just so happenes their world cup performance mashed with what he did against England topped with his antics every season in our league makes him public enemy #1.

Not to the same degree as Portugal.

Apart from Joe Cole who goes down rather easily (although there is always contact, even if it light) i know of no other England player who hurls themselves across the floor given the chance. There is a solid argument to state that if Rooney had gone flying while being hacked instead of being honest, staying on his feet and trying to win the ball then England would have likely gotten a free kick and the 'incident' would not have happened afterwards. But that comes back to your point of putting yourself at a disadvantage if you dont dive. But being English, we'd rather lose fairly than win by cheating.
