thats the funniest thing i've ever heard. tiesto for 4.5 hours?? more like 2.5 if you're lucky...

*edit*

oh yea, also for all those wondering a cheap way to get to a.c. try the chinatown buses. they'll take you there for free. actually they PAY you to go down... lol. you'll make like 8 bucks by taking the trip. just a suggestion for all you tiesto fans.. =).

pretty much.

tiesto went from my favorite dj quickly down the ranks. not just cuz of his trainwrecking and all that fun stuff, but mainly because of the length of his sets. when i first saw him he would start at like.. 2 and would go till 5:30, which is decent. slowly but surely his sets began shrinking in length. the next time was 3 hours and the one after that really killed it for me was when he gets on late at 2:20 goes till 4:45ish. that completely wowed me. didn't know anyone could be satisfied with a 2 hour and 25 minute set. maybe its only when he comes to nyc, who knows...

tiesto's shortest set ever in nyc was avalon 2004 - which was 2.5 hours and it happened once.

i can give you set lengths for every set he's ever done in nyc (which aside from avalon, are all 3.5 hrs and up) but here are the last 4:

(05-05-06) - 4.5 hrs
(04-05-06) - 3.5 hrs
(27-11-05) - 4 hrs
(26-11-05) - 5 hrs

lay off the booze and check your watch...

The World - October 2001 = 3.5 hrs
Exit - December 2001 = 4 some odd hrs
Exit - February 2002 = 4 some odd hrs

one thing i cant complain about was his set lengths.

i know for a fact they were not that long. every single time i've seen him, he's left early. never past 6 oclock. i'm referring to his gigs at roxy and yea, most notably the one at avalon. the longest tiesto set i've seen in nyc was my first with him at roxy which was approx. 4 hours.

anyways.. i'm not trying to get into forum arguements. i'll just leave it at that. sorry for making you angry.

no one's getting angry - i'm just correcting snide mischaracterizations.

as far my times not being correct, at least for gigs during the past two years, i can give you set lengths down to the second.

the ones prior to 2004, i remember in general terms, like brooks said:
exit gigs were around 4 hours a pop; the roxy gigs were slightly shorter.

you guys should stick to photoshopping the dude - it plays better...

i asked because i didn't see a point in going down to AC from NYC if the entire event will last less than 4 hours. although it doesn't matter anymore because i can't go

you must have tiesto confused with oakenfold, who has made the two hour set into an artform, i swear the guy wont go over two hours give or take a minute. im definitely siding with nick on this one, ive seen the guy everywhere and never for less than 2.5, excluding Ultra of course.

so why waste your time and even comment on the subject?

Posted by edubbz on Aug-04-2006 18:13:

tiesto? whatever, BT..niiiice! but $50, def not worth it...hmm altho being the "degenerate" that i am...i could win my entree to this event by going all-in in a hand of roulette. $25 on RED

damn, altho i know i cant just play 1 hand n walk out. lol

at the time i cared because i was going to go. now i won't even be in the area so i can't go; i wouldn't have started this if i knew i couldn't go in the first place.

I guess I am an old man if I still recall Oakee 8 hour sets in NYC. I cant remember Tiesto spinning more then 6 hours on East Coast. Although I have seen PVD spinning 10 hour sets and Deep Dish going at it for 14 hours straight.

F*CKING GOOD TIMES!

for gods sake, can we get back to the main point here, WHAT TIME IS TIESTO GOING ON AND WHAT TIME DOES THE IT END????????????

I hope it NEVER ENDS!!!!!!!!!!

I hope BT tears up the place for hours, and Tiesto comes on waaay late. But from my experience, BT isn't going to play that long (under two hours). With BT's new release coming up, I want his set to be huge.

As for the length of Tiesto's set, I dunno. I checked out Tiesto's web site, but couldn't glean any info. If I were to guess, I'd say that Tiesto will come on around midnight or 12:30. How long he plays is anybody's guess.

If it ends before 3 am, I'd be surprised and disappointed.

Just went to Borgata last nigth and got into the Mixx to check it out. Here's some intelligence:

1. You won't hear shit unless you're in line directly outside the club. While in line, I could barely hear anything that was played in the club.

2. Once in the club, the music is obnoxiously loud and very painful for the ears - kinda like Crobar on a bad night. Bring ear plugs.

3. Speaking of Crobar - similar dimensions sizewise.

4. Drinks are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive. Even more expensive than NYC. Red bull and vodka - $15. I suggest get early to the tables, get blitzed for free and catch up in the club.

5. Bathroom is outside of the club AND RE-ENTRY IS NOT GUARANTEED (AS it states on most of the club signs.

6. New NJ law does not allow smoking in clubs - I didn't see anyone smoke and would imagine that smoking in there is not permitted (under threat of fine). So, you'll have to go outside to smoke and remember RE-ENTRY IS NOT GUARANTEED.

7. Crowd control absolutely fucking awful. Line of about 50 people took about 30 minutes to get in - and club was not even packed. Bouncers were creating artificial wait.

My advise - save your money. Given the venue, this is an event to miss. I know I will...

dUH. I didn't see it and had to wait in line to re-enter for like another 15 or so minutes.

yeah ur right, it IS at the Event Center...did not get a chance to check it out when I was at Borgata this weekend...all i saw were three sets of escalators leading up to the Center...it's supposed to be 30,000 square feet -- not bad for a venue. I guess it'll have more of a TIC feel to it and also the sound will most likely be better at this concert-type hall.

MIXX looks small -- how Tiesto was held there previously is beyond me

^^Tell me how in the hell we were both in Atlantic City this weekend and didn't know about it????

From NYC, Greyhound Bus seems to be the best way to get there. They have buses running almost every 30min throughout the whole night. It's about $25 each way, discounted if you buy a round trip package.
Bus picks you up at Port Authority Terminal (41st Street & 8th Ave), and it's about a 2hour 30min ride.

They seem to have buses coming back at all hours of the morning, so if you have to get back home after the show, you can probably make it home about 3 hours later than usual.
