-- PVD Unable to play at Global Gathering
Pages (4): « 1 2 3 [4]
eddie WAS booked in advance, this was the first initial lineup to be released, ages ago (6th line down):
he was originally down to play between PvD & mark eteson. it's obvious gods knew what was going to happen before printing the on-sale lineups, since they took eddie out & put jules in his place, when eddie never mentioned anything of pulling out. it looks to me like they wanted people to believe eddie only got roped in as a last minute replacement... when they actually knew about the change of plan before the lineups were printed. they would never have had jules play twice in the same tent unless there was a cancellation
bit of foul play by gods really... unfortunately they know they can take advantage of clueless pillheads who will only go & see PvD based on the name, stick anyone on instead and not have most of them know any different. case in point, this post on UKTA:

| Originally posted by Martyn Haha, my mate just informed me of something quite funny. He left my house in Stafford yesterday afternoon to travel back to Ipswich, and he happened to have Dave Pearce on on Radio 1, and he was talking about Global, and people were phoning in and telling him what they thought the best set was. Someone phoned up and said "Hello Dave, well I though Paul van Dyk played a blinding set" Dave Pearce said something like "Thanks for calling in, so Paul made your night did he?" the caller said "Yeah". Twats. |
god he must be in line for gimp of the year!!!

I've just got off the phone with Paul and I have the real reason to everything that happened.
Apparently, when he takes a booking, one of the demands he always makes is that they get him some thick German sausage.
GK couldn't get any, so they asked him if they could get him thick English sausage.
When he said yes they got him Eddie Halliwell.

you people trying to use this as another opportunity to talk smack about pvd just because he's a huge dj are retarded... in particular the person who made some brainless remark that pvd must have a really large family with quite poor health.
how ridiculous... have you seen how many gigs he does each year? it's quite insane how he does so many to begin with. whether or not it's something serious, he's human and always travelling on the move to play parties.... if his wife was really sick for example, not with something life-threatening, but something short term that's pretty rough, do you think he'd like to choose playing parties instead?
get real people. there's more to life than music. if you like hearing paul play than be thankful he does it this much to begin with. yes, as someone who really treasures these live gigs i'd be bummed severely.... but i'd fucking get it. it's called life. it exists beyond a dj and his fans' passion for music with birth, death and a whole lot in between.
I made this thread as a mere announcement for those who were going to GKGG on the day .
A week later, and it's still going... as a mild shit-throwing flame.
Geez...... anymore flaming TAs about getting a life or slagging off PVD for God's knows what, I'm deleting the thread.
Yes, I'm sure alot of people are aware that there is life outside music and the like. Alot of you either put this across as a mild hint or as a patronising rant. This kind of shit has been done a zillion times.
Enough.

enough is fine by me. i haven't read a thread on ta for weeks until today, i just saw so many annoying posts finally feeling the need to respond. i shouldn't i know, it's a mistake i sometimes can't help but making when i read things liek this that seem completely unfounded.
