| Originally posted by josh4 i do take the time to go out and i'm not impressed. yes the city is good, but its not spectacular and it certainly has nothing on cities like LA, NYC, or Miami. the stories i hear about from the dotcom era are crazy but when the bubble burst the law enforcement cracked down on the nightlife, hard, too hard. its less than it was before the dotcoms came to town. its making a comeback to which i give you a ... call me when it isnt "coming" back but when its back one thing it does do well is create a sense of community, people fall in love with it and will defend the city to their death which usually causes them to overlook or not admit the shortfalls. its that smug pride everyone talks about all cities are filthy, LA is filthy, NYC is filthy and SF is no exception. its a city, its dirty oh whatever, that was overrated too. in the past few months there have been festivals and parades practically every other weekend and its been great to have things like that especially with such frequency, but they're all overrated. most of them are nothing but an excuse for commercialism |

Just because it isn't packed to full capacity doesn't mean you cant have fun. Im not sure what you mean about nightlife but you can definitely have a good time in SF. Its probably one of the most relax places to have a good time. |

What I'm encountering in this thread are the die hard locals that will defend the city at any cost. Its good. I'm enjoying my time here. But. its. not. great. You'd also be the 3rd true local I've encountered since I came to the city. No one is actually from San Francisco. Everybody is a transplant, its strange. Anyway, having only spent 3 years away from home, I'd encourage you to get out more. Maybe after spending some time in other cities you'll see what I'm talking about. |

josh4 thinks because he sees a heineken float and a beatport blimp at lovefest, everything is an excuse to commercialize. what this stupid tool is ignorant of is all the city permits and insurance the organizers have to buy in order to throw the event. what he doesn't know is that lovefest is a not-for-profit organization that feeds money back into the community and makes no profit off the parade. what josh4 doesn't know because he just moved here is that lovefest cost the organizers $280,000 last year and only 230 of it was recovered from donations for a loss of $50,000, even after sponsorships. and what josh4 also doesn't know is that none of the performers in the parade were paid any money. all of the djs were given free plane tickets to sf to come spin for free. but of course, josh4 can say with confidence that these festivals and parades are just here to commercialize

| Originally posted by josh4 As much as I'd love to take your bait to argue into 5 pages that lead no where, I have to say no. My opinion is my own but I don't need to validate it to you. Living in the DC area yes I traveled to NYC often and had friends there. I'm also going to pretend you didn't just suggest San Francisco's night life can hold a candle to LOS ANGELES |

| Originally posted by lex400sc lol you're such an idiot. unlike you i make trips down to los angeles several times a year to some of their biggest club events so i can actually validate what i say. you on the other hand just make claims based on your lack of experience and believe them to be true. |

| Originally posted by L.E.N. About "encouraging me getting out to other citys"..Ive been in LA for the last 3 years...its simailar. Almost all are transplants, just more of a fake attitude with the whole "Hollywood" aspect. Ive met plenty of great people so its not all like that, but for the most part, people will act like they care here....where as in SF, Ive met people that DO care. |
please don't post nude photos.

No pedestal here...there is a difference...you said it yourself.."its like two different states". You can analyze my posts all you want...but you need to actually "live" in a city longer than a year before really finding out what "living" there is like. LA is a good time...don't get me wrong. (visiting and living in LA is two totally different things). You can have a blast in a week staying here, but live here for a few years and it gets rather old with all the bullshit. SF still has that busy feeling but still feels relaxed. LA has a busy feeling but there is also that uptight feeling that kinda kills the experience. An opinion is an opinion...and there is no real way of swaying it. Thats fine...but I disagree. |
ew it tastes pithy

| Originally posted by josh4 you believe one thread with a couple posts and a few people vaguely implying SF is a good club city proves your point? this is why i only bother to argue with you to a certain extent. What are we arguing about anyway? Nevermind. |

| Originally posted by lex400sc i offered an example. let's not confuse that with anchoring my entire argument to that one thread. for fuck's sake can't you admit that in this area i clearly know a shitload more than you do and that you're just flat out wrong? you can keep reaching and reaching for off the wall rationalizations for this and that, but in the end you're still just reaching for thin air. |
pun intended, i'm sure
