Splitting hairs really.

Goa is just old skool psy. Electronic music that came out of the Goa party scene (which is now largely dead and has been for years).

Psy is just a continuation of Goa Trance, but outside Goa. Its kind of world wide almost. Its different and its moved off in a different direction but I wouldn't say one is more 'spiritual' than the other. Thats a personal thing. How spiritual you find a certain type of music depends on the emotional weight you place on it. Hell, pop could be a spiritual thing if you were really into it.

Exactly. Though i won't say that goa and psy are that different. Same thing with "minimalism". To me it seems like people are just going back to really old school rave music when trance and rave first started. The tracks then were extremely simple and "minimal". Its just one big circle that makes everybody think that they were the first to discover something that had been done years before.

But one must understand that music made back then was different, so yes goa and psy are different.

This is probably the best, most succinct way of describing the difference.

Music is always changing. Its just a necessary progression.

djs play whichever music accomodates the crowd at a particular event. this doesnt mean they dont play trance anymore. pvd would play more techy stuff at love parade but it wouldnt be received well at cream so there he would play trance. djing is about diversity, any dj who sticks to one style wouldnt be very popular.
