And I never said that ONLY my life has special meaning. Not once. I said it gives people hope, and from MY experiences, in MY life, I CHOSE to believe in fate & destiny. Silly! |

He spazzed out and went off on a tangent about how there are billions of people and species in the world, how dare I think that my life is special... way to attack someone for simply saying it gives people hope. Believe what you want - but there's never any reason to knock on other peoples beliefs... especially if A) they aren't even remotely trying to push their beliefs on you, and B) it makes them happy. What the fuck do you care what I believe in? Focus on yourself! |

wow. Ignorance hits all people at one point or another.

Originally posted by mezzir i see where both of you are coming from and i'm somewhere in the middle the answer? instead of describing him as bitter and unhappy...try cynical then everything's solved cause he is cynical, but its not a negative word by definition, i'm cynical and i know it

gloomy and untrustful doesn't necessarily mean you can't be happy
trust me, i'm a cynic
and yes, cynicism(sp?) can lead to bitterness, but is not necessarily related
idk i guess i just don't take it to have an implicitly negative connotation

Originally posted by pkcRAISTLIN not a spazz out. just thinking your position lacked credibility or forethought is all. then whats the point in having a discussion at all then? this thread is about the existence (or lack thereof) of fate. if you cant question, learn from, debunk or refine somebody elses position, why bother ever having a conversation ever?
I've never been one of those people who feel the need to "prove" why I believe the things I do. What happened to make me believe in something, is none of your business.
quote:
keep your beliefs to yourself then. by posting on a forum you make your beliefs an open target for anyone. if you cant handle a discussion that is critical of your position, then dont post them.
quote:
now, justify your belief in faith and destiny. tell me how they work, how they intermingle and relate to concepts of free will. im all for different opinions, but i want to hear logical and well-constructed beliefs when dicussing immeasurable notions like destiny.

ok guys, there's only one way to say it
rock, paper, scissors
both of you pm me with your choice, the winner will be declared correct, the loser banned from refuting any statements anymore in this thread
agreed?

Originally posted by pkcRAISTLIN frustration, amusement or annoyance with people's gullible nature or their tendency to believe in fantastic notions devoid of any evidence does not make me bitter.

Originally posted by jennypie Why should that bother you though? Other people's beliefs have no effect on your life. Basically you're admitting how weak you are by choosing to be intolerant to things that have nothing to do with you. Way to go.
I'm done talking mezz, I have nothing left to say.
I'll be the bigger person.
