Safety First

Simply put - there is a responsibility of the venue to provide a safe environment for all its patrons.

After last Friday (those of you that blame the venue & although there were issues of capacity - as in it was rammed-this is not part of my response) there were bigger issues that fell on the shoulders of the security, as a result of partiers and their inability to party safely..

Its a shame, that the drugs are so much apart of the scene that over the last 7 months, I have watched the dramatic changes required by security to ensure the safety of the patrons in and outside such a nice venue.

Last night, the seekin of substances too bothered me but its not the security that brought it in! However, it is the security that did save the life of many irresponsible partiers last weekend of which you complain.

If London is not your scene, its not your scene... everyone has a spot and thank goodness for choice! However, it always comes back to the violence and abuse exercised by a few, that always causes such reactions.

Take care of each other and your friends; the reaction is a result of the cause - and that falls on the people around you.

PS

Just some info for those that dont know.

PS- if you did go to the truth section on mistess barbaras website - she notes her last visit to London was the best night of her tour and states she wouldnt mind a residency at TIL. As well as mentioning she can count the amount of times on one hand that she has said this, in refusing many residencies throughout her carrer .

First of all...that comment about M&S and the DUI was completely uncalled for...what makes you think that they are that stupid??? Anyway....

Skipper: You can't blame the club/bouncers for everything...
I would never go out by myself to a venue where you know that half of the pple are under the influence....and as a girl it could get really scary....

The bouncers have a job to do...they get paid!!! Im not a big fan of TiL but i've never had a bad time while there...I agree that the security is tight and sometimes too much, but hey ...Its really funny how pple always trash this club and say they will never go back but yet they always do...lol

The night depends on the dj,,,and MB is a little snobby....She's not like she used to be...and getting pissed at the photographers???WTF??lol

I know I've always had fun and a lot of that had to do with going with the right crowd...try that out
p.s. Jay, nice pics

Posted by Silky Johnson on Nov-12-2006 06:23:

Holy crap, are people not allowed to have a bad time??

Why are people so inclined to try and change a person's mind about their negative experiences?? That's very noble, but fuck off! LOL

P.S. I've been drinking, excuse my abrasiveness, and FUCK OFF!

I was surprised when she named TIL one of her best stops on her north american tour back in the spring...I highly doubt she'll have the same positivity about Friday though.

We don't mind them doing their job. We mind them touching ppl when not warranted and doing what can be seen as unprofessional acts.

Being a bouncers can be a tough job. But it does not mean first thing you do is treat everyone like they're doing something wrong. Like, to get someone's attention, you don't grab someone's neck. Talking to get attention is allowed.

I agree that because of ppl trying to sneak in drugs forces clubs to take some drastic actions for the safety of their patrons.

But treat your customers like shit and they'll treat you like shit too. Words spread. (like it's happening here)

A DJ's primary job is not to pose for photos. So what if a DJ is annoyed because he/she is getting distracted by the photographers?

She doesn't want pics to be taken.

Fine. Let her go back to doing her job.

PS: I'd be 'yohan' on msn

Posted by *TiEsTo*SuX* on Nov-12-2006 16:38:

Im not trying to defend the bouncers in any way really...I know they can get out of hand sometime...All i have to say is that I feel very safe when I go there...I know most of them and I have never had a prob...

MB knows that photographers are going to come out and knows that they will be taking pictures....she's a dj right? ..........

Before she comes for her set she should tell the place not to have photographers all over her ass...and they can prob. make that happen

I remember being with Digweed for his set at Dragon Fly and thru his set pple were trying sooooooooo hard to get a pic or autograph, and he really hates the photographers...He actually asked me to go down and ask one crazy fan to stop snapping pictures, but you don't see him being a bitch over it. He does it in a professional way and doesn't let it show on the outside. And yes pple say that he's an asshole but he's allowed to be...He makes it up with his amazing sets!!! MB is not quite there yet! So maybe next time she should just do her job, ignore the things she doesnt want to see and maybe try and enjoy her nite.

oh and I seriously cant recall a night when any of the photographers were being pushy or annoying with any dj that i have ever seen....

News Flash: Everything isn't always sunshine and lollypops. We can't expect EVERYONE to handle situations with grace and tact. If she wants to be a bitch about it, that's her right. I'm sure she doesn't give a fuck either, lol.

Again, I don't understand what makes it so hard for people to ACCEPT and UNDERSTAND that some people may have had a different/negative experience than another person did? You can't change someone else's memories ffs. One person's experience is just as real and true to them as the next's. How hard is it to respect that?

Would you like someone interfering and saying "No, you're wrong!" every time you had a certain experience?? Who the fuck are we to tell anyone that??

Truly mind boggling.

exactly!
every big dj knows there will be photographers there. its not hard for her to let management know that she does not want pictures taken of herself. the message would get relayed down to me through management. but when im working for This Is London and i am asked by certain people to photograph their night, i am gonna do my job. rather than her being a total snob about it, she could've said to me "could you please not take any more pictures of me tonight? id appreciate that." and i would comply. i have had djs tell me that before and i was more than happy to let them have their privacy. but the way she was giving my attitude and dirty looks im gonna put that flash in her face as many times as i can.

But isn't your job to take photos?
Didn't you just say that every big DJ knows there are photographers there?

it is my job but if she asked nicely i would've allowed her to have her privacy. every big dj that plays in any big city knows they will most likely come across club/site photographers.

Sarah, I feel your pain

well, not really...because I had a blast at Stereo for Mark Farina this weekend without experiencing any of that bullshit. The only unwanted touch I received was from some circuit guy trying to pick me up, lol.

seriously though...I'd encourage you to formally complain to management about the treatment from the bouncers, particularly the inappropriate (not to mention illegal) grope at the door.

Maybe management won't really care...and so maybe nothing will be done. But if they do care, but don't hear about it, then it's *certain* that nothing will be done. So write a little letter or make a quick phone call.

I saw MB at Miami this past March. Ever since then I've been dying to see her spin again. Was sorely disappointed at not going out this weekend until this thread. I would love to see Sonic or some other venue besides TiL book talent like Sander and Barbara.
